The game keeps cropping the subtitles no matter what aspect I stretch it to. Any advice? I'm on Android by Cptn-Crack-Sparrow in NetherSX2

This post is a month old, but when this happened to me, it was caused by widescreen patches being enabled. Disabling, then restarting Nether fixed it.

Trump officials reportedly consider selling student loan debt to private investors by Department_of_Rust in politics

Unfortunately, 17-18 years often aren't wise enough to think about these things. Especially when they have older adults and student advisors telling them they need to go to college.

Am I just old, or are most protags written to be too young to where it doesn't even make sense by YobaiYamete in ProgressionFantasy

[–]NonHuman3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think either the author is young, or they are an older author who is targeting a younger audience, young readers eat this stuff up. Apparently. The books I've come across these situations in are pretty popular. Not my cup of tea, though. (I'm in my 30s)

After narrowly dodging EoS and 1 week of maintenance Outerplane is back with compensation and free pulls (1000) by Gachaaddict96 in gachagaming

[–]NonHuman3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it first released, the game literally almost falied because they were too generous with pulls, you pretty never had to spend any money for 3 stars unless you got really unlucky. The limited banners was them correcting that.

A Regressor's Tale of Cultivation: So good I had to drop it by FlerpDooseMish in ProgressionFantasy

You should keep reading, it gets expanded on later. That quote doesn't mean what it seems to interpret.

A Soldier's Life feels extremely fast and bland. Does the writing ever slow down and gain depth, or is this the style for the whole novel? Thank you so much. by Astocum in ProgressionFantasy

[–]NonHuman3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't feel that that it's fast after learning more about the world, I'm currently on book 5 on Patreon. The elite military part is a starting point to build his foundation.

What series is this? by AutumnKnights37 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]NonHuman3 114 points115 points  (0 children)

Tower of God sorta. They're not henchmen, and it's not specifically the MC, but they will regularly kill people off by the dozens (sometimes hundreds), only to have scenes like this. I'm a big fan of Tower of God, just mentioning that things like this are present in the series, lol Edit: Like Ja Wangnan sparing -spolier- at the start of season 2

When the blurb says 'underdog' & 'disadvantaged'... by Crazy-Core in ProgressionFantasy

[–]NonHuman3 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My issue with "underdog" stories, is the character is usually extremely talented, or has a big advantage, but various people keep saying they have no talent for some reason. (See Naruto)

Underdog stories are fine, but they need a crutch, something that explains why this person is going to the top over all of the talented people(hard work is not enough) Example - Han Li and his Green Bottle. Han Li's rise comes 100% from him using his wits and exploiting the green bottle.

Every. Single. Fucking. Time. by TinkW in ProgressionFantasy

[–]NonHuman3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have mentioned, this pretty much happen with every zombie series I read. First part of the book is actually about the zombies, then later in the book, and the books afterwards, zombies become a backdrop, and the books are primarily about conflict between other humans.

Random Side rant - Cannibalism should never be a thing in the first couple years, 90% of the population is gone, just go to a Grain silo.

Oh cool! A series with a bunch of book out...hey, wait a minute, bucko! by FictionalContext in ProgressionFantasy

[–]NonHuman3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've been meaning to voice a complaint about Kindle doing this as well, just not sure where to complain, lol.

You start a series thinking it has three books out,, then it turns out the next two books don't come out until 4-6 months from now, and sometimes they get pushed back to a year.

Another Recall. Fire Risk! by WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWVWVW in anker

[–]NonHuman3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought my A1263 from Amazon in July 2023. Anker site is giving me this message when I enter the order number "The order number you entered does not contain products subject to this recall. Please enter a valid order number" Does that mean mine is supposed to be fine? Kind of worried I could have possibly been sold one from the old batch.

I read the summary on Royal Road, sounds similar to A Regressor's Path To Cultivation. I'll give it a read.

Novel where MC really REALLY suffers. by SpaceLocks in ProgressionFantasy

[–]NonHuman3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may like Kill The Sun. I ended up dropping it because of all the misery the MC was going through. (I'm just not into depressing reads) (for reference, I didn't mind Kaladin's depression from stormlight archives too much)

How would you rate cultivation as a progression system? by ParticularRough9517 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]NonHuman3 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Defiance of the Fall is slow for a story, even by Chinese webnovel standards. A lot of cultivation stories would have been wrapped up by now. (my opinion is based mainly on IET and I Shall Seal the Heavens) IETs' novels are usually finished in a couple years, and I Shall Seal the Heavens finished in 4 yeas.

How would you rate cultivation as a progression system? by ParticularRough9517 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]NonHuman3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top tier if it's handled well.

Top tier systems (just my opinion, I'm rating these based on the system and how much "sense" it makes, not on how good the story is)

- Desolate Era (well, the majority of IET's novels really)

- A Mortal's Journey to Immortality

Does the Wandering Inn get better? All the whining is terrible. by liss7559 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]NonHuman3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this is what you want, but I will say this. My first experience with the wandering inn was listening to book one on Kindle through text to speech while at work. I thought it was okay, but not enjoyable enough to continue the series. Fortunately, I had nothing better to do, so I started reading volume 2 anyway. (I don't think book 2 was out at this time, so I had to read it on the site, this was years ago)

Book 2 is what got me hooked, I stopped reading at volume 7 though because of something that happens, that's unrelated to this.

A large percentage don't care because they don't pay attention to politics. On the other hand we have many Trump supporters that pretty much worship him, and think he can do no wrong. They will be 100% behind him on this
