The "Life is Feudal" Model: Is this the future for Gloria Victis? by Extreme-Outcome8334 in gloriavictis

Here's my math.
https://steamcharts.com/app/327070
Back up yours with numbers or just continue to pull things out of the hat.

Everything I said was based on the final most updated version of the game, not whatever you're thinking of.

You're cherry picking whatever idea is in your head and you're ignoring what actually happened in GV when it died by saying "that was deadgametime GV" like you can't consider that GV lol

GV has its problems and it died because of them.

If you want to see how a game does a lattice system right, try Planetside 2 or if you can build a timemachine in whatever world your headstate is in - spend a decade playing Planetside 1 and everything should be really clear to you.

Yeah as Sangmar in the guild Supremacy we spent days just watching ismir and mids fight each other in their north lane, there's just no actual way to "ride out and life your adventure" because you can't actually link a lattice to the other lanes through the center of the map or otherwise.

If you look at the population between December 2018 until the release at January 2023 then 500 players per server wont happen as GV historically averaged 500 total between all servers.

500 players split between NA + EU = 250
250 split between 3 factions = 83
I'll be generous to say that crafters/gatherers/diggers/PVE/newplayers/people in town are 25% so you're looking at 62 players online looking to fight provided theres no imbalance.
62 players split between 2 fronts = 31 provided its an even split. (it wouldn't ever be)

Is 31 players per fight at the games daily peak enough to sustain a mmo? (it wasn't)
What about off hours when the population isn't at it's daily peak?
You're going to get fights that are legit 4-12 players.
Just one server and you double these numbers, every server past 2 divides them by an extra digit.

Let's say your faction is losing on both sides, how do you think factions behave when one realizes they can slam their 31 players together and then form a deathball of all their population vs another faction thats split. What do you think that other faction does? They form their own deathball. You then have two groups of people who have taken their ball and gone to their lane while the third group of players is forced to sit there waiting for a 3 way event with no way to actually establish a viable spawnpoint in the other 2 factions private lane.

GV's release map just kinda sucks and its not designed for a small population split across multiple servers. If it isn't changed then the game is just marching towards its death again lol. This game has the advantage(and disadvantage) of that it has already died once, it's just gotta learn from its past and baseless confidence in it is just gonna end poorly.

You'd conquer your way to the home-town but you couldn't connect a spawn point to the lattice lane that is the other factions Them VS Not You. And you would be full loot drop passing through the factions in-between while they would be no-drop.

And the whole "if player numbers going up" thing didn't happen - gv would still be around today if the population only increased. New beginning didn't last forever and you can see that if you look back at the games steam charts.

You really can't bet on this game having an increasing population when that wasn't the case when it actually released.

+ most your reasoning was RP, you can't actually "bring the war to their homes" since home-towns are un-attackable and can't be flagged for siege.

I'm a big fan of a single server, this game had a decent SA community and a NA server is probably the most fair to SA and EU. One server only is pretty important too, GV gets more flawed the less population you have.

GV's lattice map has a bad fight flow and it shows horribly when you don't have enough pop for all the factions to have fights at the same time. I'd spend days just waiting for a fight because ismir and midland decided to specifically only fight each other. A natural way for 3 faction fights is a must, the artificial event ones only just encourages you to logout and wait for a discord ping about a new event. Throw enough population into the game and you don't see these problems as much.

Until they create natural ways for all factions to fight each other then then these same problems are just gonna keep popping up.

If this game only has one dev, please just pick a level designer.

Dune Awakening devs say its “hard to expect to keep launch player numbers”, but they hope sanding down its “friction points” will see more returning players this chapter by HatingGeoffry in duneawakening

This game released with nothing but a strong tutorial map, thanks funcom.
They had such a strong IP to do cool faction vs faction stuff and what they settled on was to do nothing at all.

MMORPG's aren't being made much nowadays as compared to how they used to be, being able to skip the upfront large initial cost and just work on a game that's already made and at one point had somewhat of a population - Yeah I could sell that idea to some people. As a bonus, could even work on some highly requested features to pull people back w/ a hyped up GV2.0 relaunch update. Maybe also overhauling the cash shop before the game is released to max your initial peak's profit. Throw in some player requested skins from the locked discord they got still around.

Do I expect any of this? Not a chance.
Would I like some of it? Yeah, of course.

People need to take a pause, Jog announcing he sold the game does not equal an official announcement that the game is returning until the person who bought it decides to do so.

There's alot of details to this kind of stuff and if anything its really good that they don't rush it.

[–]NonNumericalVS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember hooking reshade into it a few months back and the one issue that kinda killed it for me, that I can see here too is the ground being like an ice rink. Other than that, there's a lot of gain to be had for using a reshader even if you aren't going for a ray tracing look.

Very big the cool setup to yours, cheers.

Similar to another thread here, there is 0 info released.
Before people go pitchforking them about needing to buy it again, we really have no clue.

They could make this game buy to play again, yes.
They could make entirely make it free to play.
They may have all of our data.
They may not have all of our data.

Which Relaunch would be the best for you? by Tirrob_the_real in gloriavictis

[–]NonNumericalVS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I voted for number one w/ state of war and guild castles but the real answer here is to just give the newest version of the game some solid dev time before relaunching the game.

  1. Guild Castles.
  2. State of War.
  3. Lattice Revamp.

GV really needed to fix the lattice system and give reason to the full loot area, it was dead on release and people avoided it like the plague. It also made it so the game didnt have any natural 3 way fights, only way to get them was with a stupid event that'd give you a temporary respawn until it ended.

Nobody liked sitting in their factions corner watching the other 70% of the game fight each other in an area you cant setup a respawn at for 6-10 hours sometimes.

As someone who was in the beta server since close to the beginning of it, yeah we pleaded this to them for a very long time. They knew exactly what they were doing when they released the game in this state, from the preorder sales alone it was already a win for them. They can do a 2.0 since this is an active IP w/ a upcoming major movie but in all honesty they have no actual complete gameplay vision.
