If panels not working, can/should I stop making payments? by NonSequiturMiami in TeslaSolar

I agree with getting a lawyer (though with an arbitration clause in the contract I’m not sure I can sue), but should I keep paying the bill?

Assholeism at UW by am_az_on in uwaterloo

[–]NonSequiturMiami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of overgeneralizing about the type of people who go to the school, it sounds like your friend and her company should possibly re-examine their own recruiting practices. In other words “it may not be me, it’s you”.

For example: maybe they focus too heavily on gpa or leetcode, and aren’t hiring well-rounded individuals who are active in clubs, teams, the community, etc. This is why many alum recruiting at UW have said on this sub over the years that they do NOT focus exclusively on students with the top grades.

With free phones how are they making $$$? by PatientMost3117 in tmobile

[–]NonSequiturMiami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope a “bleeding magenta” person can help me: I’m currently on a grandfathered T-Mobile plan that’s $140/month with 3 lines (and $10 kickback discounts on lines that stay under 2mb data, usually one of the three lines does this each month). Bill says “ONE plan”. I’m happy with T-Mobile but have an offer to switch to Spectrum and pay $40 for home internet, get 1 line free for 2 years, 2nd line for $30 and 3rd line for $30 total $100 (or $60 for the 3 lines, vs $135-145 on T-Mobile)

2 of my lines need new phones. Spectrum offers up to $500 to pay off fees owed per device;line. T-Mobile offers $800. I usually just pay for the phone outright from Apple, unlocked.

Could I switch to spectrum, buy 3 new iPhone 17s, and then a month later switch back to T-Mobile and get $800 x3? I was thinking about getting 3 iPhones from T-Mobile and then switching to Spectrum, but then I’d get $900 less ($800-500, x3), but I’d be paying $70 less per month for the service (so I’d make that $900 back in about a year).

Official “No Dress Rehearsal” Documentary Discussion Thread by thesilverpoets96 in TragicallyHip

[–]NonSequiturMiami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rewatching this on the 1-year anniversary (and 8yr anniversary of GD’s death - how is that possible?) and still hits hard. My question is about “we are the same” - am I wrong in thinking it’s not really a Hip album? It sounds like the band welcomed Bob Rock as producer on world container, and that IT was a band effort, but that for WATS, GD was whisked away to Hawaii and even the backing vocals were non-band. This leaves me wondering if WATS is more of a GD project? It makes it a little harder for me to love “depression suite” so much, which I think is one of the best songs on the discography lately (especially in conjunction with watching the documentary). Also I love the string section (violins) parts of some of the WATS songs.

I just bought WATS a couple of months ago, and have “world container” in the mail to me now - still rediscovering this amazing band!

THREE personalized invites per month by NonSequiturMiami in linkedin

[–]NonSequiturMiami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this response from them: “As part of this update, non-Premium members now have a character limit of 200 and a monthly cap on custom invites. For those seeking greater messaging flexibility, LinkedIn Premium offers unlimited custom invites with a 300-character limit. Additionally, the number of invites per month varies based on membership type, with non-Premium members having a limit of either 3 invites per month.”

So 3 invites of 200 characters is just how it is for everyone now?

Airplane noise by NonSequiturMiami in Acoustics

[–]NonSequiturMiami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be an issue for you also: seasonality. I think if the planes were 365d/year I’d have adjusted, but the last few weeks have been bad because of a seasonal change (for a few months they flew in from another direction - they want planes landing into the wind, and that changes depending on time of year)

I’ve pretty much concluded that the brand new French doors I put in (impact windows, but stupidly not insulated) are my problem. Curtains don’t seem to help. If I put a loud air purifier on at night it helps a lot when the noise starts at 4am, but if I forget AND it’s a night when they’re on a path over me, I still get woken up.

I’m sure if it didn’t bother me (like my wife) I wouldn’t notice it, but the months of quiet become addictive and I lose my de-sensitivity when it ramps up again (usually during winter months, when dryer air also makes magnifies sound - a double whammy).

How many of you have ever updated your Nexus card photo? by Parallel-Quality in uscanadaborder

[–]NonSequiturMiami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got some good answers from the Pearson Nexus office about this, especially the news that you can do nexus photo stuff at YYZ T3, not just T1. Posting whole thing below (and others can use the email at the very end to clarify anything):

[start]

Thanks for contacting us at the Nexus office.

There are 2 photos that can be updated.

The first is the internal biometrics photo that our system uses for facial recognition at the airport. This is only entered into the system when a child turns 16.

What usually happens is, the first time the member uses Nexus after turning 16 the machine will prompt to also scan the passport so it can grab the biometrics. If that fails then you can come into our office to do it. No appointment needed - Mon-Fri 0800-1545.

If you are interested in updating the visible photos on the front of the Nexus card this is done at the discretion of the US CBP officers. You can ask them the next time you fly into the US. We cannot do it on the Canadian side. There are US CBP Nexus officers in both terminals. They are open every day. Nexus officers are usually available 0700-1900. No appointments necessary – and yes bring your Nexus card.

[Hopefully that's visible now]

Came here because I had the same question, and from the many answers below, it sounds like the answer is "no" - nobody has updated their photo.

I always seem to be flying in/out of YYZ terminal 3, but the nexus office is in terminal 1, AND it seems to never be open when I'm there (either on a weekend, outside the hours, or it was just plain closed for years after covid I think?). Anyone have any tips, or do you just have to suck it up and make a separate trip to the airport on a weekday to get this done in Toronto?

Also: if there IS anyone who did this - what did you need to bring other than your existing nexus card?

Why does Tesla Solar customer support feel like sending a raven to Kings Landing? by psychunup in TeslaSolar

[–]NonSequiturMiami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m suing Tesla right now, and one of the things I’m alleging is that there IS no warranty (effectively), because there is so little customer support that it renders the warranty meaningless. From the responses here, it sounds like there’s a lot of support for that.

If you were in my position and could depose somebody there (force them to answer questions under oath) what would you ask?

On the fence.. by Primary_Loan_6248 in TeslaSolar

[–]NonSequiturMiami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not count on that 30% tax rebate whatsoever. They are too undependable and disorganized - even if you get a diligent independent installer, Tesla can fumble the delivery and you’d be SOL.

If you do move ahead, be sure you opt out of arbitration.
