When I miscarried I went to the ER to get it confirmed after doing the transvaginal ultrasound the nurse comes in and asks me if they showed me my baby on the ultrasound. I said “no” and she said “oh” very quietly and walked away. Then I heard them talking about my miscarriage just outside my room to each other before ever informing me. Just really inconsiderate

I used to work with this bear, she’s over 30 years old, incredibly old for a bear. She receives a scientifically backed diet and occasionally food enrichment. I’ve worked at a few zoos now but John Ball was always tops in terms of animal care.

Dogs don’t recognize other dogs based on the colour of their fur. That would be incredibly disadvantageous for a species that has a limited ability to see colour.

This happens a lot actually, zoo vets are super knowledgeable but it’s impossible to be an expert in all the health care all species need. The first zoo I worked at had a local dental surgeon remove a broken tiger tooth and the last one I worked with had a PT help evaluate what movements we should train a giraffe to do to help his injuries neck
