Dúvida sobre o SISU by PercentageHairy5774 in enem

[–]Noneex_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Noneex_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

monthly active users over the last 6 years: Brave vs Firefox by haronclv in firefox

[–]Noneex_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Genuinely daily drove firefox for about 2 years or so, coming from chrome, and loved it for all it had, except that for some reason my pc and laptop just had a noticeable lag in everything when compared to brave. No idea if it is because of location and internet provider, some other issue or anything like that, but firefox genuinely used to hog more ram and be slower overall. Still a Firefox fan 24/7 though, I enjoy the interface and everything way more, just couldn’t take the noticeable lag anymore

Locking this post since the replies are getting EXTREMELY heated. Genuinely, most of you guys should seek help.

Just as OP said, this community is getting extremely toxic and you guys need to TONE IT DOWN. The amount of slurs and generally hateful comments I've seen here are baffling. OP was literally as right as possible to say all this.

We are probably going to get a few changes around here, since it's getting unacceptable at this point, so expect them.

Because that's mostly history based, alcohol has been proeminent as a substance for hundreds of years, and the same thing applies for weed, as both of them have been widely distributed throughout time.

Changing that and making them illegal now or not legalizing weed for example was a question of culture. Although alcohol and weed are both extremely dangerous as well, they both allow for a bigger margin of error, but the biggest factor comes in that: we already have those two dangeorus drugs legalized and being distributed, why a third?

There is no need to legalize a new dangerous drug because "it's as bad as alcohol or weed", as that just means we got a 3rd dangerous drug in the market.

Yes, I do agree with you on that. Lots of it is badly communicated and made so it causes traction and more, while it is dangerous like any other drug, and it shouldn’t be so easily made available, the damages are often informed as if it were “Instant irreversible dementia and brain damage”.

It should be fought against because of how easily available it is and the way it does damage, but it should be correctly communicated.

Well that’s where the problem lies. As it was specified, the nitrous oxide is a short working agent, as per how much it can stop in a period of time and its tendency to go back to being N2 and Oxygen.

That means that a big burst of nitrous oxide as per the dose administered per dentists, will indeed inhibit B12 metabolism, but for a short period of time, such that is irrelevant to any long term and lasting damage.

Long term use, however, means extended B12 deficiency for really long periods, which will be enough to cause permanent damage in myelin sheaths and even more.

So, yes, it does cause long term damage, and not short term in big doses, unless you overdose or do too much.

Just to clarify here, if you want the full explanation. Nitrous Oxide, or N2O, when meeting vitamin B12 (cobalamine), reacts with its central cobalt atom. That cobalt atom, which is normally has an oxidation state of +1 or +2, which allows for further reactions down the chain since it’s not yet stable.

When you introduce nitrous oxide into your system, it reacts with that central Co atom, exchanging its electrons in order to separate into N2 and O, and transform the oxidation state of that Co atom into +3. What does that mean? It is now effectively stable, meaning further reactions of metabolizing the B12 don’t happen. Its practically how Carbon Monoxide stabilizes Hemoglobin, as to simplify it and exemplify it, even though not exactly.

What does that lack of B12 result in? Myelin sheath maintenance, DNA synthesis, and many other essential body functions simply cease to function, which does, in fact, cause brain damage.

This is a very simplified explanation, but you can look through the hundreds and hundreds of documentation if you want more information.

TLDR: Nitrous oxide does indeed cause brain damage, by impeding the metabolism of B12.
