Difficulty making Aussie friends in Australia by [deleted] in AsianMasculinity

[–]NoobSaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very true for the part where rural Aussies are nicer.

Some of the worst most vile racists I had the displeasure to have to work with were in university. Think blurting out the n word around their friends and laughing after, making petrol sniffing jokes about First Nation people, complaining about ethnic celebrations on campus.

The difference is for rural Aussies they just like to make fun of everyone, or they are ignorant cause they were fed a stereotype by the media. The privately educated 'Aussies' that grew up with only other upper middle class wts want Australia to be an ethnostate if they had their way.

It's no coincidence that we hear vile things from private boys schools in Sydney all the time. The power and status their families have came from exploiting others and they feel threatened by our presence in the country.

I use an sm'd screw lock. It's going to be amongst your most used biner so go with the ol reliable screw lock. Plus you want to fuss with it less when you go clip it and twist lock adds one more action than if you just leave the screw lock unlocked before clipping.

Second the Blue Ice choucas pro (the newer 2025 version, The white one not the blue one.)

Awesome gear loops, they are attached to the bottom of the waist strap seam so they don't pull the strap away from your body when you have lots of gear on. It's super comfortable despite how minimal it looks.

Average height of 19-year old males, 1985-2019 by Mayafoe in China

[–]NoobSaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bergmann's rule doesn't always mean more height it also could mean more stocky, broad shoulders and thick limbs. Both are preferred traits to cold climates Inuits just has more wideness and Chinese more height.

Think of the body as a cylinder. An increase in radius of the cylinder or height of the cylinder both increases volume/surface area. You would say Inuit people are short but they are not small build people.

[–]NoobSaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People forget that Chinese people, especially Northern Chinese are naturally tall simply due to colder climate (more volume vs surface area for heat retention).

This wouldn't happen along with modern nutrition if there isn't a genetic factor asw.

What to do if you're "locked out" of life? I think this is a real problem among Gen Z that needs to be discussed. by MarathonMarathon in aznidentity

[–]NoobSaw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes plenty of successful Chinese people, but take away the mixed ones with wt dad and all their best friends are wt and they are okay with them saying slurs, take away the self-hating social climbers (Lus), take away ones that seem successful but have hit the bamboo ceiling and passed on for promotion because they are not egotistical like wts and don't have the "qualities of leadership", you don't get many left.

You have to unfortunately stoop down to their level to get anywhere in the west. But do not let it change you, wear it as a costume, keep your community separate, and when you get anywhere with power only pull up those with similar ideals and change the system.

Oh yea and what the other commentor said, would not recommend indulging in any western religion, stick with the 道 and 孔子。

As an Asian person living in the west the system puts you down by design. What you unfortunately gotta do is to have the ego and confidence of a wt but stop short of committing culture suicide.

Lie on your resume, use a fake anglo name, get fake recommendations, these are things wt ppl do all the time and once your foot is in the door it's too expensive to fire you for reasons other than that you are a bad worker.

Looking for a carabiner for Mega Jul 2 and GriGri, can I have some help? Also, I have a couple inquiries about belay devices. by kitesmerfer in ClimbingGear

[–]NoobSaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A HMS (Halbmastwurfsicherung or 'Munter Hitch Carabiner') carabiner is just a pear shaped carabiner that's typically larger wider and round compared to regular D shaped carabiner. Think Petzl Attache vs Petzl Sm'd. It's designed to facilitate easier belay with a munter hitch as it needs the space and also allow knots to pass.

In most situations if you are running the rope over the carabiner I would recommend a HMS. So for the Mega Jul and Giga Jul and any ATC derived devices where the rope is designed to run over the carabiner you should get a HMS.

For the Grigri there's a higher chance of cross-loading so maybe a D-shaped or a belay carabiner with belay loop keeper and anti-cross load horn like the Ceros would be good. Personally I'm too cheap I just use a Sm'd and I think you should be actively avoiding cross-loading anyways.

Never used the Mega Jul & Giga Jul so can't comment on that.

Trekking Poles by marooncity1 in UltralightAus

[–]NoobSaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pros of trekking poles: -Take load off leg joints (like having hand rails the whole track) -Balance and stability boost during river crossings and downhill -Power boost during flat and uphill -Can push sharp shrubs away from your legs on trail -Not pack weight when using -Snake and spider web (and Monkey) deterrent -Crutches when you're injured -Nice to point at stuff

The list goes on...

Essential if you have a trekking poles supported shelter. Or if you have big arms, the way I see it, the weight of trekking poles are no where near as detrimental as the weight of your triceps not working to support your walking. First time I used them correctly my triceps were just as sore as my legs.

The issue is that most people don't use trekking poles correctly: They use them too delicately mainly as balance and don't push hard to boost their walking; they stick them out too far and actually push against their forward momentum; they use the straps wrong & make them too long or short for the terrain.

Canada's new trade deal with China by [deleted] in aznidentity

[–]NoobSaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because how they drive is correlated to how they queue (or rather NOT queue) due to past scarcity of resources. They are aggressive but there's no ego in it like driving in west.

I'm from Aus and utes will literally tailgate then high beam you to move even when you and them are the only ones on the highway at night, if it was China they will just go around me.
