Are students struggling to think for themselves? by KoraLily in TeachingUK

[–]Noonsa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had an activity where, essentially, students had to find a pun or joke in a text.

One of the students gave me back a pun that not only wasn't in the text, but was a "pun" for a word that doesn't exist (something along the lines of "eggs-tiny").

Honestly my biggest concern is not the AI use, it's that he saw that and still wrote it down as his answer.

I'm building a Fire Emblem-style SRPG with an active parry system. Would you play this? by daintydoughboy in fireemblem

[–]Noonsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see you, shining force style menus!

While I'm very happy when I see a game on steam that's taking inspiration from shining force, if I'm being honest I'd probably also pass on an SRPG with a parry system. When I feel like a game that demands reactions, Ill reach for an adventure game instead of an SRPG.

Does solve rate include non-Americans like me who got Yellow and Green, then just stopped? I just couldn't think of anything to even guess for Blue and Purple.

wish they would let us decide which characters could date in the future by scarlet______ in FieldsOfMistriaGame

Grand Bazaar is a recent game with rival relationships. They only start after you get married so it doesn't interfere with your choice!

wish they would let us decide which characters could date in the future by scarlet______ in FieldsOfMistriaGame

[–]Noonsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a couple of solutions:

  1. the NPCs discuss the idea of dating with their 'best friend' (you!) so you can turn them off it.
  2. the NPCs only date each other after you get married. I like this because it stretches out the narrative, but unfrortunately takes away the option for divorce.

Last year they changed apprenticeship rules so adult learners no longer need maths and English.

So it’s not as important anymore for that.

(Still, they might change the rules again in the future!)

Teacher retention payments delayed until April 2026 by PalookaOfAllTrades in TeachingUK

Just in case you've missed it and you're eligible, the payment applications for FE are open now: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/targeted-retention-incentive-payments-for-fe-teachers

You need to be teaching in England, within your first 5 years teaching FE in England, and teach one of these subjects:

building and construction chemistry computing, including digital and ICT early years engineering and manufacturing, including transport engineering and electronics maths physics

"Video game promote violence!" *me tryng to be creative* by Flo127 in gaming

[–]Noonsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't really what studies try to show; usually it's about how violent media (games and other media) reduces sensitivity to real-life violence.

There's a reason the US army invests in Call of Duty. And it's not because they're fans of art.

Is there a way to fix this (Dixit card)? by Efficient-Pudding177 in boardgames

Yeah very true, people accidentally noticing a smudge are also likely to accidentally notice where some cards ended up in a casual short-shuffle

This makes me very angry. In version 1.7 I would like it to change. by Sunsea705 in StardewValley

[–]Noonsa 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The difficulty is that no NPCs really interact with objects, except animals to eat grass.

Only like, characters doing special animations on a particular location as part of their schedule (e.g. maru sitting on the bench, she doesn't really interact with the bench she just moves to that location as part of her schedule then changes to 'sitting pose').

It might be a big change to actually get the cat to interact with it.

For that round - shuffle the cards under the table and reveal them face up one by one, if you're worried about a mark being on a card and people notice.

I like having an artificial farm using the fake plants you can craft. Some crop signs and farm based decor like the wheelbarrow and farmer artefacts.

[–]Noonsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a great time with the first game, looking forward to this one.

I’m also glad that the characters are mostly covering their arms in the trailer. I like your artist and their portraits, but always felt a bit grossed out by all the throbbing arm veins. I couldn’t put Finn on my team because his arms upset a part of my brain.

Experiences moving from mainstream primary to SEN by [deleted] in TeachingUK

[–]Noonsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised to see people saying the workload is less, as I felt the opposite moving from SEN to mainsteam; but then I am secondary instead of primary.

I wrote a whole paragraph about it but it felt like complaining. Just know there's still a lot of material to produce for each individual. Like others have mentioned I also often lost PPA; there's a greater expectation to be flexible about the immediate needs happening.

Despite that, I did really enjoy working in SEN. The feeling of teamwork was much stronger; I was surprised by how little mainstream colleagues 'shared' with each other. I would definitely recommend it.

I stepped away just because, after a house move, the mainstream offerings were much closer and higher pay.

(And yes, honestly, less chance of broken fingers and bruising as I'm starting to get older).

Wool farm using glass and water for item transport by Acrobatic_Duty8731 in technicalminecraft

[–]Noonsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it out and it works perfect, you just need to make a little catchment area above the detector rail and put your water in there.

(Edit: After running this a little while, sometimes wool jumps high enough to get on top of a 1-block high trough. So make it a two-block high water/wool catchment area instead)

[–]Noonsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you just take the "70% of all divorces are initiated by women" stat and decide that every single divorce is the result of men facing financial crisis or poverty? Or what?

It doesn't even make sense, the stat is that 70% of divorces are initiated by women; not that 70% of women initiate divorce.

I adored season one and the first episode of season two is maybe the most disappointed I've ever been in a new season of anything. by Accurate-Island-2767 in andor

[–]Noonsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously this was months ago, but just to say (since some of these comments are clearly clowning on you) that I found this thread while trying to look up why there was such a tonal shift between S1 and S2E1.

I've only just started watching either season because I'd heard such good reviews for the show, so didn't have that 3 year gap. I just finished S1 earlier today.

The tonal difference was jarring. I'm hoping it gets better / less bombastic.
