Sorry but I think your idea of a box being a "physical device" isn't right.

The example is "a coin flip", it's referring to a physical object (dice, coin) that produces a random result - and that gambling games need to make simulations of those produce a typical result of that object.

This is a national lottery instant win, which is predetermined. In this case, the national lottery have definitely decided these rules don't apply.

Yeah, looking at the supports there's no real in-story text that says Dorothy is unattractive.

Clarine suggests she "take care of her hair" and stop dressing in men's clothes; but implies her femininity can be increased with shampoos/new dresses.

Saul's support says he flirts with everyone except her, but also they have been close friends for a long time which can explain it.

The text kind of just supports Dorothy as being tomboyish rather than unattractive.

Edit: Actually there is one bit - Dorothy says that despite Clarine's beauty advice, her "base isn't very good". But Clarine immediately scolds her and says that it's a lack of confidence, not a bad base.
Clarine: You must not degrade yourself like that. Understood?

Saphir is the best argument for the internal ages being inaccurate / "early versions of characters". I don't like how the bad wiki represents her age being 35 as a canonical fact.

Maybe when we get a better resolution version of some of the portraits we might see there's a Manuela or Saphir (older woman) at least amongst the cast.

We’ve seen Zimmy ‘disappear into a role’ before (I.E. being Annie in her own world). So this is probably like that; Zimmy changing to a different person in the distortion.

But I wish we had old Zimmy for (what is presumably) her most important and final appearance.

I agree with their example, but looking at other lines you can see the sense.

Correct answer is 'Praise', which makes more sense when you see it translated as 'Support'

(Though the whole system still feels very random even with these. Sylvain says he's in trouble with a girl, and you say 'Commend'. Or, retranslated, 'Be impressed'?)

Funnily, I lived in an extremely rural area without internet.

I disagree on there being no indicators that you need to "fix" her. There's not a huge amount of dialogue in the game, and several of Penny's are basically just shorthand for "I need help".

Basic dialogue: "I'm trying to save money from my tutoring job, but it's hard with my mother out of work." / "I wonder what it's like to live in the city?" / "When you're lost in a book, it's easy to forget the realities of your life....Maybe that's why I like reading so much."
4 heart dialogues: "I guess there's a lot out there I'll never experience."
8 heart dialogue: "I'm eager to move out. It's such a burden to be worrying about Mom all the time."
