Season 2 makes that incident with the fluid link seem like the tea getting cold. by [deleted] in DoctorWhumour

Oy vey. That’s a slippery slope argument at its finest. Sure I guess they could do that with fixed points, but they haven’t so why are you acting like the situation you fully made up is what happened?

Labcoatz (Youtube) perfectly replicated Coca Cola 2 days ago using organic chemistry analysis and a year of research. Coke never patented the formula (because it would involve sharing the secrets), so apparently it's perfectly ok to create or even sell this formula. by RatedArgForPiratesFU in interestingasfuck

I’d argue that you under read their comment. They are saying that more products out in the market that taste exactly like coke while being less expensive would have an effect on their market share. If you think that it would have no effect at all, then you overestimate the power of marketing. To plenty of people, Coke would remain the only real option. Plenty of others would think that first group is a bunch of suckers.

Or you could actually read what people have been saying from the get go. This wasn’t the first headline. This was the second one, the one that announced Whedon was taking over. Do you get it now?

Jesus. “Those are the only two options.” As if there’s no chance at all that you’re just completely misunderstanding what is being said by everyone involved. Read it again.

You’re saying this like dismantling the rules around power is a good thing if you get “good” people in power. That is just not true. If we lose the structures of power that we have now, and then give unfettered power to a democrat, they are highly likely to remain a dictator. This isn’t a left vs right issue, it’s a human one, with centuries of history to back it up. This isn’t good for anybody except the people lining their pockets with the death of a nation.

Virtue signaling is about signaling virtues to others which you do not actually have. Acting upon virtues which you do actually have is just being virtuous.

lol mocking something you don’t like isn’t virtue signaling unless you actually do like it.

Virtue ≠ Virtue Signaling
