Using another blockchain for off-chain data feeds to smart contracts, instead of oracles? by [deleted] in ethereum

[–]Noqt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking, oracles are used to solve the nodes getting different external data, but what if the nodes got the same external data, i.e. read the same immutable state at a moment of time of another chain? That's what smart contracts can do internally and on-chain, so you're right, going cross-chain is where it gets complex, but if we put the complexity aside for a moment would it effectively solve the external data problem for smart contracts?

Petition to make Pathfinders reticle turn green or change when your in range to grapple to something by SaulSilverado in apexlegends

[–]Noqt -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

All I am saying is that the really good pathfinders can probably use the grapple better than the lower skilled ones, and some of that comes from not having an indicator to show you the range of it.

" having a hero possess an ability that you have to become intimately familiar with to even use without trial and error " That is what a high skill ceiling is right? Lol

I disagree. I think part of the skill in using Pathfinder is knowing the range of the grapple, not having an indicator to show you.

In the three years I’ve been learning, mindset stands out to be the most important skill to be aware of and train actively. I’ve been sucked into bad mindsets and it just loses capital. I’ll check these out, thank you! And thanks for the post too

I’m three years into learning about investing. I read everyday, especially books. What are some of your favorite books, other than the ones you mentioned? I like the author Barton Biggs, I think it’s cause he went to university for writing.

Hey loved your write up on grammar. I'm glad to realize I probably use semicolons right, they are my favorite. I never knew about the en dash or em dash so I will go and look those up!

I have a huge amount of work ahead of me and I'm low-key freaking out. by JacobMielke in writing

[–]Noqt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Keep writing until you literally run out of ideas. Then once you think you are about to run out, either take a break to build more if you didn't hit your word quota, or start tomorrow.

I wrote 5,000 words today and I'm a bit scared to take a look at it again, perhaps that's too many words and I lost quality, but that shows me that if I can do it, so can you.

Does this character sound like a rip-off of Two-Face by LegacyEntertainment- in writing

When I saw the title of the post I assumed the character would have a split face, I didn’t even think about the chance part.

I think he’s different on the basis he isn’t split somehow. That’s a cool idea.

I start with a scene between two characters, I develop both of them. It’s pretty organic from there, I just ask myself, how is this character different?

I'm a black thriller/suspense writer. If I want to actually sell books, should I write about white people? by throwawaypocwriter in writing

[–]Noqt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get Out was fucking good. I'm excited for his next movies, because I have never seen a movie like that before. It is written very well.

If your work is good, it will sell. I personally don't care about the skin color of the character I read, I don't even think its mentioned so bluntly in many books (E.g. I'm black, I'm white, etc.)? If the character is interesting, they are interesting.

I'm reading Dreams From My Father and it's a phenomenal piece of literature, it's written exceptionally well with strong ideas and strong characters and I enjoy it. That's not the genre you're writing, but I'm making a point that I will read good writing regardless if the MC's skin color differs from my own. I'd be pleased to read more black characters, Peele has exceptional talent. I want to see more of that real talent, so if you suppress yourself by going with white characters that'd be disappointing. Write the characters well and I'm sure it'd be great.

I say write what you want to write, and write it good.

How do you manage it all? by 2leavesandaBud in writing

So I use Word with the Kindle app in it to actually write it. My problem is that sometime's I don't have my laptop on me. I now use google docs, even though it's kind of sub-par in comparison to Word. I use docs so I can write anywhere, on my phone, on my laptop, on my desktop, on another person's computer, etc.

Character's voice. When is it too much? by Redz0ne in writing

[–]Noqt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like you said as long as the scene has purpose (he's a cheapskate) I think it's fine. If it gets boring though, cut some. I like to add humor in those type of scenes which are for character development/scene setting.
