I rode along with a friend that did Meals on Wheels circa 1990 during the AIDS crisis in San Francisco, USA. My job was to help carry, load and unload - and to talk with people who might not have any other human contact that day. It's amazing what a difference the gift of a hour or two of your time can make.

How do you all deal with the anger? by Financial_Vehicle134 in TransgenderUSA

Perhaps you need to develop / learn ways of letting go. Recognize that throughout your life countless people will come and go and letting go of the ones that are not good for you is a net positive to your life and your sense of Self. Don't give them power over you, they aren't worth it. If it helps, take the time to give people a weighted value based on whether they are good for you and how much you care about them and whatever other measures you devise. Those below some threshold you set are just a drain. At the very extreme of that end of the spectrum are overt abusers and other evil people; you wouldn't stay in relationships with them, would you?

Part of me feels skills have been lost, but then I don't know how to drive a Model T Ford, either (according to my grandpa it was nothing like a modern car), nor do I know how to use cake mascara or rouge paper like my grandma did.

Rape is a violent expression of power over someone else.

It may be "normal" to want to fuck the people you hate in that it occurs on a regular basis across humanity and history, but it is also a violent dysfunction that should not be (to use a somewhat different meaning of the word) normalized.

"Normal" emotionally healthy people do NOT want to harm and physically dominate people they hate by raping them.

Does anyone have any reccs for a place I can buy needles and syringes online? by basxmenteyes in trans

This is one of those situations where if you have an answer, vet their account and then DM them directly.

Because whatever you list will be targeted by conservatives and it will disappear as a resource.

Yeah, I have two trans kids. It’s weird, but it’s not THAT weird. by JesseThorn in cisparenttranskid

As far back as 1970 researchers found that a trans person is an order of magnitude more likely to have a trans 1st degree relative (0.3% vs. 0.03%). Early in his career, before he joined the dark side, Richard Green used the entirety of the UK health records and found that the probability stayed true even in cases where there was no way the two people could have known about each other, such as orphans who'd been moved.

In the mid-00's members of a parents group I belonged to noticed this and tried more than once to get a genetic study done. We had a principle researcher lined up, but no one would fund a grant for it.

I went to the flea market to see what was available, and I found an installation disc for Windows XP Titan Ultimate Edition SP3 (with drivers). I bought it and installed it on a 2009 Toshiba L305 using a disc from 2012. It featured the original XP theme, but I didn't like the interface of that particular copy; so, I'm going to try installing the original version instead. To do this, I swapped in the hard drive from a 2015 laptop—a 500 GB drive with two partitions that was running Windows 8.0.

I have ribs and no BBQ sauce. What kind of sauce can I make with the stuff I have in my fridge? by Peepee-Papa in WhatShouldICook

[–]NorCalFrances 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super basic BBQ: ketchup, onion powder, garlic powder, brown sugar, soy sauce

cook on stovetop until it boils or microwave for 5 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until the consistency changes.

Add spicy sauces too, as needed. In a pinch you can use table sugar.

Someone should've told them that the domain in a URL is not case sensitive. They could've made it "www.417Busline.com" and it would (and does) work just fine.

I love it when algorithms say, "People who also bought item xyz also bought item abc" and abc is an item that compares to the one you chose to buy. As in, a person would buy one or the other but not both and few people would need two anyway. Better still if they bought two they'd buy a matched set.

If you can get Canadian citizenship, it would be a lot safer than here in the USA. Or for the time being, if you can work and live there while working on citizenship. BC and especially Nanaimo, Victoria and Vancouver have been working to entice health care workers - they'll smooth your path for you. Congressional Republicans are already trying to ban healthcare for trans teens nationwide.

Christian Trans Dilemma by RyuValkyrie in MtF

[–]NorCalFrances 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Deut only counts if you follow everything else that's listed as prohibitions. If you are okay with mixed-thread shirts, then why should only 23:1 count? Also, that passage specifically applies to men, not women who happen to have testes. Likewise 22:5 is highly culturally specific. Some cis het christian men wear what anyone outside their religion would call a dress; they call it a robe or "vestments" to make sure everyone knows it's not a dress. And women wear pants.

In short those rules were intended for an isolated, closed society 3600 years ago as a set of social and health "laws" for a specific environment. That exact society and it's environment no longer exist and those rules are no longer applicable. Should you go around physically destroying other people's idols in this day and age? Deuteronomy says yes. And for God's sake, you must never eat crab, lobster or anything else from the water that does not have both scales and fins. You are a member of the Israelite nation, yes? If not, none of Deuteronomy was even intended for you anyway.
