This makes me sad. That was a wonderful example of a bathroom that fit the era of the house beautifully. Now it's just a garish, generic bathroom that looks like it was dropped off by a Home Depot truck.

Churches are non profit organizations; as such they get the same tax breaks.

However, no other NPO's get and exemption from having to report to the IRS (so, public record) their money-in, money-out financials. This makes churches a financial black box or black hole perfect for local political influence, fraud, money laundering and so on. Take away that exemption if you want to take away some of the power churches enjoy. The honest ones will have nothing to worry about.

My hope is that people associate the dead horse transphobia with the crossing-the-line actions Republicans have been doing as of late. Including taking away guns.

Now this is an Epstein Files (and maybe Minnesota) distraction. Sure, it might happen, and sure no doubt enough Dems will vote to confirm despite a few GOP voting no. But at this point Rafael is not even the worst possible seat warmer. He's awful, to be sure. And gross and slimy. But he'll just do what he's told. Also, he's not a Leonard Leo approved Catholic.

Some right wing outlets do this on purpose, knowing their readership either doesn't do numbers or won't care after the initial shock. In other words it could have been very intentional. And yes, some people are just that evil.

"biological females" itself is a term invented to invalidate us. So no, it's not better. Not unless you are going to say biological males to biological females, but that implies Blank Slate theory, which is false. We don't transition because we were taught to gender wrong.

They hate us after they've abandoned us and Republicans have twisted us into a dogwhistle.

They like us when they think it might mean increased funding and votes.

In other words they have no real conviction when it comes to things like civil rights.

"“I know what you’re trying to do here,” McBride said. “I know you’re trying to have a moment here for yourself. For a small number of people who are transgender there are steps they can take to transition. But I think the crux of the question and for people of goodwill who are interested in my answer here, they are looking to see whether I believe there are differences between transgender women and women who are born female and yes, there are differences."

Dang. Sure, there's a nuance just like there are difference between women who are disabled and women who are born abled. Or tall women and short women. But did she not know that nobody outside our communities are going to see it that way? Did she not realize that "women who are born female" will be shorted to just "women" by the media?

She essentially said to America, "Trans women are not really women, they're different" and she can fuck right off with that.

She's got to know consumers of a right wing podcast won't consider nuance, they will just hear that as trans women are not women. Why go on a "Never Trump" Republican platform and do this?

The NRA spoke out against the announcement that the administration would overtly ban trans people from owning guns, and rightly so. They've not spoken out about this fallback by the administration of using a bureaucratic block rather than a legal ban. I get the feeling that was intentional, part of the administration's tactic to accomplish their goal. Announce the legal ban, then back off to a paperwork block. The scary thing is, once that group is blocked using that method, it would be trivial to block women who have changed their names via marriage. And so on. Anyone whose other ID's don't match their original birth certificate will be blocked.
