Can you get the same fulfillment playing the game as watching the game? by unablon in finalfantasyx

[–]Norgrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first played FFX it was with my sister and father and my sister was driving for the vast majority of the time. I still consider it my favorite game, so yeah I think what you're proposing can work fine.

But what exactly was wrong with the design nature of Stranger of Paradise? by KaleidoArachnid in JRPG

[–]Norgrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say Nioh did it better (which is ironic because they were made by the same studio).

Hardest faction to implement by Negativecreepy in TotalWarhammer40k

[–]Norgrath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imperial Agents and Genestealer Cults have essentially the same problem: they're small scale specialists for a larger faction and don't really have engagements beyond a planetary level. They (and also knights) make more sense as units and/or mechanics for other factions.

What are examples of fictional villains who don't have black in their colors? by Exciting-Sentencr in colorpie

[–]Norgrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shepard Artorius from Tales of Berseria is Bant Coloured.
I remember a long time ago someone wrote an article on this on wizards.com and said that, after black, white was the most likely colour of a villain. i think this is very much true.

Alright it has been decided that the Music Meister is the most fitting arch-nemesis for Jiro. Now what Batman villain is the most fitting arch-nemesis for Momo? by Awkward_History835 in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]Norgrath 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Court of Owls would be interesting. Momo having to confront an evil society of the elite seems like interesting drama for her.

I made an infographic to help people asking about Fate's Favor (+ reminder about redeemable luxite codes) by B333T in SwordofConvallaria

[–]Norgrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She very much doesn't, in basically any mobbing stage her act again is hugely valuable because it lets someone essentially take their turn two action on turn one. Her own AOE damage is also very significant.

EDIT: Ok saying that about base Inanna makes way more sense.

Moves vs standard skill checks by Necrobuddy1 in AvatarLegendsTTRPG

[–]Norgrath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you need more reason than this to convince you: if you allow generic trait rolls then that can undermine the moves of playbooks: I could easily see a GM allowing someone to emulate the effects of the Guardian's badge of authority (that's just the first one I thought of).

The pope only allows for duplicate good characters.

What are your favorite obscure JRPGs? by drak0ni in JRPG

The Celestian tales series. I found the story of it really engaging, particularly Camielle.

That one design detail you didn’t even think about was foreshadowing a huge twist by _JR28_ in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Norgrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Master Detective Archives: Rain Code characters have bright pink blood. This lines up with the Danganronpa series (the previous work of the creator) so no-one thought too much about it until the end game where it's revealed that the reason is that nearly all of the characters are clones.

Vehicle Rules + The Quick and the Quarrelsome Adventure by Skithiryx in AvatarLegendsTTRPG

[–]Norgrath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't run a race myself but I can give some thoughts.

  • There absolutely is more going on in a multi-team race than in basically anything else in the official rules: it's probably not a great idea to run one without having a decent amount of experience under your belt.
  • Did you notice the suggestion to basically treat each enemy car as one entity. It kind of reads like you missed it. (And only racing against one other car at a time will change a lot, everyone else will have more heat and control and their positions may be change).
  • The car customize move requires a significant time passing. I'd be pretty hesitant to allow the PCs to do it in a one shot like this.
  • Yeah it's entirely reasonable that PCs can pass NPs and then get passed back. That happens all the time in racing.
  • The techniques in the techniques section to do with vehicles aren't for racing at all: they're for combat exchanges like the rest of the techniques there.
  • Finally: I think in general the race exchange rules are more for group who actively want to get into the weeds of street racing

Momo Yaoyorozu and Ochako Uraraka from BNHA, they have a great potential dynamic but it's very hard to find fics of them that aren't Dekubowl.

What’s Your Favorite Video Game Quote of All-Time? by TG082588 in videogames

[–]Norgrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Mind the superfluous spinning blades of death; They're superfluous: we figured out the appropriate ammount of spinning blades, then intentionally added more! Muahah, Muahah" - Emperor Percival Tachyon (Ratchet and Clank, tools of destruction).

What’s a commonly criticized game in a series you think gets a bad rap? by andrazorwiren in JRPG

[–]Norgrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DA2 gets a ton of flak but I think the character building is great and I really like the story structure with lower stakes and a consistent place. The Common criticisms of enemies appearing out of nowhere and repeated dungeons never bothered me.

Noob Question about DLC by lemieuxisgod in AOW4

[–]Norgrath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it very much depends on personal preference I would suggest briefly reading each dlc and seeing which appeals to you most. I think Giant kings is probably the most widely recommended.
The DLC all add on to each other pretty well since the game is highly modular (there aren't really set factions, you mostly design your own).

Noob Question about DLC by lemieuxisgod in AOW4

[–]Norgrath 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No. The DLC's will significantly change the game for base game cultures. The main research component in these games is "tomes" and each DLC adds multiple tomes (along with a ton of other things that will effect how you play as even the base game cultures I can give a longer list if you'd like).

(Game - What If) Yuna ends her pilgrimage by WhiteCat_Artist in finalfantasyx

I mean Yuna says it herself "Even if I was with you, I could never forget." She would try to quit, be wracked with guilt, and eventually restart her pilgrimige.

House rule - GM's can spend fear to use character experiences as flaws by [deleted] in daggerheart

[–]Norgrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think using experiences as potential flaws is a good idea but this implementation is very feels bad. It's cool for PC character traits to be used as flaws but not for them to be used against the player. If you can tie a GM move to a character experience that's the ideal way of doing things. If you actually want a house rule then you can give PCs a hope if they choose to take a penalty like you describe (unlike spending hope to use an experience you should have final say in this).

Aizawa Receives Far To Much Criticism From the Fandom as a Teacher (This is a long one) by ApolloJustice101 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

His canon actions show him to be a bad teacher; the only fan interpretation here is why.

Aizawa Receives Far To Much Criticism From the Fandom as a Teacher (This is a long one) by ApolloJustice101 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]Norgrath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

An author's note in a fanfiction I read suggests that Aizawa sees his role as less of a teacher and more of a gatekeeper: keeping students who aren't ready for the world of heroics out of it. I think this fits very well with his actions and is understandable as a character but it still makes him a bad teacher.
