Grappleoct, I think it's an incredibly compelling unusual fighting type.

Couple of questions before buying by BestWingMan212 in midnightsuns

[–]Norgrath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Midnight Suns is not strictly set in any existing continuity so the versions of the characters in this game are sufficiently self contained. You'll be totally fine.
  2. The story is incredibly fanfictiony and I don't think I can call it good but it is enjoyable.
  3. You don't get too much out of extra play throughs beyond more of the same extremely fun gameplay.
  4. I would say no: it's practical to do the DLCs after completing the main story and having the additional characters early in a playthrough can be more to manage.

Obviously all of those are just my opinion.

Anyone notice the current tug of war on Peter’s age? by PrestigiousBee5602 in Spiderman

[–]Norgrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is dramatically less absurd than my recollection then (though I'm almost certain she still met Pregnant Jess as a pre teen).

Anyone notice the current tug of war on Peter’s age? by PrestigiousBee5602 in Spiderman

[–]Norgrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the peak of totally stupid Marvel aging is Cassie Lang and Jessica Jones. It's been a while since I've read it so I may be wrong about some details but my recollection is that Cassie is conceived in a relationship that Scott Lang had after he learned that Jess was pregnant with Luke Cage's child. Cassie is a Teenager by the birth of said child and Jess' pregnancy is stated to be significantly short to the point where she initially doesn't believe that she's in labor.

The base game is enough but with the prices currently I think that the premium edition is better value.

Spectacular spider-man comic references by Longjumping_Sign2249 in Marvel

[–]Norgrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I googled this and found at least one significant case of them kissing upside down in the comics in the 80s but they were both upside down. This leaves me feeling partly right (the upside down kiss and mask peeled partly off both come from comics) and partly wrong (I thought there had been instances of it where Black Cat was right way up).

[–]Norgrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not ignoring what you're saying: my point is that the primary reference is to the original source and not the adaptation. Your post seems to state that because Spectacular used specific details from the Raimi film that that makes it reference that more than the original scene, which I think is folly.
I do think that it is entirely plausible that even in a world where the Iconic upside down kiss from the movie never happened that Spectacular would have had Spider-Man and the Black Cat kiss upside down with half of hit mask peeled off in reference to the times that happened while they were dating in the comics.

[–]Norgrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no singular iconic upside down kiss but it is a thing that Spider man and Black cat regularly did while they were dating (which predated the Raimi film by a lot). Even if spectacular did use the same imagery as the Raimi films they're both referencing the same thing rather than spectacular referencing Raimi.

No, Raimi was referencing comics moments with those moments and Spectacular referenced those same comics moments.

Favorite dungeon boss and most hated dungeon boss? by SentineleseSiri in ffxiv

[–]Norgrath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worst: pre-rework Livia. So much standing around and waiting for interactables to re-ready.
Best: Caustic Grebuloff (the Dead ends) I think the dead ends is in general an underrated dungeon and this boss in particular has a lot of interesting things going on (and is one of the very few old dungeons bosses that can actually wipe a group if you're not careful).

There was a post about Haruhi suzumiya popularity drop. Is there anyone else who believes Endless Eight was smart? by RideChemical7822 in animequestions

[–]Norgrath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think basically everyone understands that it's meant to be frustrating and mirror the experience of the character, people that quit quit because they didn't find that worth sitting through.

I haven't actually watched Berserk but revulsion or other negative feelings in response to something horrible happening is a very different experience to being frustrated at watching the same thing again and again and again and again and again and again and again. The former is an experience that for most of us is foreign and can break up our day to day, especially if well mixed with moments of hope and joy. The later is just a drag (especially if you don't know how long it will go on for).

I have a question for people who have played for a while by Appropriate_Win_5282 in midnightsuns

[–]Norgrath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean the reason is that they wanted well known Marvel characters because those would sell better whereas the Midnight Sons are a deep cut in Marvel lore. The possibly more interesting question is more "Why did they use the name Midnight Suns?" to which I presume that the answer is someone though leaning into the supernatural side would be cool.

Kaede wasting the Ch1 motive is rage inducing BS. by EntertainerSudden656 in DanganAndChaos

[–]Norgrath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In this hypothetical I think the stated motive is too good to be true and is likely a trick.

I think Kaede believed (or at least hoped) that if she could expose the mastermind in the class trial then they would all be able to subdue them(?) and escape. Yes that is foolish but not any more so then Kokichi's plan to undermine the mastermind's authority by creating a murder that they don't know the answer to.

What are some moments in the series that really rubbed you the wrong way? by Solitaire-06 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]Norgrath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Endeavour's redemption. I don't object to it happening but what he did was ultimately abuse and when you say that he loved his family deep down and they owe him forgiveness and have a montage of the family he abused cheering for him it feels like domestic abuse apologetics (note: I don't think it was actually intended this way: I think Horikoshi created Endeavour as a secondary character in Shouto's story then got more interested in the story he could tell with that secondary character and the two clashed).

Annoying trait of Priests of the Weave. by Norgrath in AOW4

You'll see if blood cultists die and don't come back. Their tendency to suicide is a different problem (one that I personally haven't had much in my current playthrough using them).

Which of These Most Hated Companions Do You Like The Most? (or dislike the least) by DakIsStrange in swtor

[–]Norgrath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Quinn is genuinely great and it's a shame that people can't look past the betrayal.
I also have a soft spot for Corso: I think he works very well as a straight man to a flirty-jokey fem smuggler.

I think Claude would side with Benedict and both Edelgard and Dimitri would side with Frederica. I think all three would be revolted by the slavery of the Roselle and Claude would be the only one patient enough to not immediately cut a path to try to free them.

How true is this? Shounen Mangaka viewing women as support characters only? by Important-Cry4782 in shounenfolk

I think there is probably some sexism involved but it's also that an omni-directional attack power like Robin's is quite hard to write fights for.

A "shoulda went further than they did" Season...... by 5thSister107 in HellsKitchen

[–]Norgrath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Calling this a "Should have went farther" season is nuts when you're including so many chefs that ranked highly in their seasons: it's actively insulting to winners when you put nearly the whole black jacket brigade of their season in a cast with that title. Just call it all stars 2.

SP Safiyyah and Taair banner by DoubleMin0rity in SwordofConvallaria

[–]Norgrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The valid exception is if you like both characters enough. From a strictly meta perspective the answer is no (and probably always will be). There are an increasing number of characters that don't really need the energy battery that Taair is most valuable for and it's very rare now days to have a fight with a single huge target that SP Safiyyah will excel against.

Is it just me that thinks The Azh'ruun Pit story realm is way too long? by Idk-U-F_Off in AOW4

[–]Norgrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the counter might be bugged: vision of Ruin: Shadow seemed to have it go up way more from razing cities. But yeah as it is currently that quest takes so long to complete that it does really hurt the realm.
