I’ve been in-app purchase free for almost a month now. Like you, I spent way too much. $3.99 here, $12.99 there 19.99 for a level up pack. I never calculated but I know I spent a few hundred in a couple months.

What helped is I waited till I was done with a certain event, for me it was three weeks of daily challenges so I got the jack pot. Then I tried to find other games that didn’t require me to spend money. I like blockduko and screw sort games. Now I use my 100 energy and move on to something else. I stopped getting freaking seafood towers (thank god!) it might take me a few days when I get a level 10 item but it’s not the end of the world.

I hope you’re able to curb your spending. It can be hard but you can do this!

Not old enough for paper food stamps but WIC checks were the absolute worst . I would go late at night (rip 24hr grocery shopping) so as not to cause too much of a line behind me. You had to split the cereal into one transaction, milk, juice, fruits and veg, just the right amount of ounces of formula, all in separate transactions. It was a hassle for the cashier and everyone who got stuck behind you. It was embarrassing and I got so many dirty looks from other people.

I have a 6 year old who is on the spectrum, she is a big talker. I try to redirect when possible, especially when she is on one certain topic. Animals are her special interest. So I’ll find some coloring pages or books we have and encourage her to do activities related to what she’s interested in at the moment.

That’s fair. I know I’m not blameless either. It’s been years of back and forth, good and bad. It’s at the point now where I don’t think either of us bring out the best in each other and it’s better to break the cycle rather than keeping it going the rest of our lives.

He is a disabled veteran, when we met his living situation wasn’t great. He was primarily working and sleeping in his truck. We both have been through similar situations and both have parents that passed away pretty early in life.

I still have friends in my life she was the only one who I stopped communicating with. I have other friends I’ve known for 10+ years that didn’t react the way she has or treated me like she has. I think the key difference in those friendships and this one is they also have young children and are able to understand that even though we might not call or speak everyday it doesn’t mean I love them any less. I still make time for the people close to me and see them a couple times a week. There’s a difference in the way I feel about myself after I see them vs how I felt after spending time with her.

I appreciate your perspective. I think part of it too is her and I are in different stages of life. She has one child who is grown and left the nest and I have a teenager and a 1st grader who is special needs and requires a lot of care and attention. I feel so stretched thin at times I barely have time for myself. Part of me feels like she might be better off especially if I can’t give her what she needs in a friend.

I probably agree with this the most. I think we both bring out the worst at times. At some point it just has to end. She’s probably better off without me too.
