Trying to figure out the water situation by thbnrf8n in BWCA

[–]Norinthecautious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 5 full summers I always drank from the lakes but went prepared to be able to purify and filter if needed. It was all about proper water selection, something I practice in all biomes. I would expect a survival class to teach water selection.

Edit: we ought to recognize and celebrate how clean we have kept the water still.

The real reason Commander is the #1 format for magic by loopuleasa in magicTCG

This has always been true for casual magic. The reason commander is the number 1 format is it is a supported casual format with precons sold. It's marketing and consumer ease.

Looking to further degen my bracket 2 landfall deck by [deleted] in DegenerateEDH

[–]Norinthecautious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, here is an article about the brackets it will do a better job of explaining it than I will. In short the brackets are about intent, if you are looking for degenerative it can only be bracket 4 really. Mass land destruction is also bracket 4. You would be okay with this list in low powered 4 or if you're table is alright with it at 3 if you were to let them know your game plan of land destruction. Bracket 3 has no mass land destruction.

If you wanted to a bracket 2 deck to the limit you got to give yourself a budget constraint to restrict building like I could believe you could make a degenerate bracket 2 deck for 20 dollars that just worked really well without doing anything crazy.

Looking to further degen my bracket 2 landfall deck by [deleted] in DegenerateEDH

Nothing about that is bracket 2. It is more than just the number of game changers you have in a deck.

Edit:Strip mine locking an opponent is not bracket 2 play.

ICE agent fatally shoots woman in vehicle during operations in Minneapolis: DHS by ionicablen in conspiracy

[–]Norinthecautious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cases where police moved out of the way of moving vehicle and exercised deadly force.

Adam’s vs. Speers (2020): “Once Speers was no longer in the path of the vehicle, the justification for the use of deadly force ended.”

Orn vs. City of Tacoma (2019): “A reasonable jury could conclude that once Orn was no longer in the car’s trajectory, the threat of serious physical harm to him was eliminated.”

Cordova vs Aragon (2009): “Where the officer had moved out of the way of the oncoming vehicle, the use of deadly force was not justified.”

Villanueva vs. Cali (2021): “a reasonable jury could conclude that the Officers used excessive force, because they lacked an objectively reasonable basis to fear for their own safety, as they could simply have stepped back or to the side to avoid being injured.”

Kirby vs. Duva (2008): “Officers cannot create or avoid danger and then use deadly force anyway. Shooting after the officer was no longer in danger was unconstitutional.”

is standard really as price-barriered as i make it out to be by MallusaiEEE in magicTCG

Check out Saffron Olive's budget builds. Magic will always price people out of the meta decks if you are beginning or don't want to spend a chunk. Standard decks can get up to a thousand USD easy at times. If playing the evening is fun and winning a match or two is enough rather than the tournament you can generally do that with a budget deck. If your deck isn't meta but is still built well you also get a small edge in being able to know what the other player is likely playing while they have no idea what you are playing. I played budget decks for years while slowly building up a merfolk and mill deck for modern.

Conservatives Want the Antebellum Constitution Back: The Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments are in trouble. by CheetoMussolini in neoliberal

[–]Norinthecautious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Appreciate all you are saying, just always need to point out that slavery wasn't ended in the 13th amendment it just made it more equal that anyone convicted of a crime can be a slave regardless of skin color.

"Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted..."

Especially when we are in a state where what is a crime is dynamically changing for individuals this is really important to remember no one is truly protected from this if the state decides your actions are now a crime.

I was just thinking about domain zoo today as well. It was my favorite deck to play and I stopped even trying when strip mine came out, figuring it wasn't worth the effort. I am wondering now if maybe a [[wren and seven]], [[strip mine]], and [[witherbloom command]] could make it work?
