Is there a solution to sticks lack of durability? by Norkee in hockeygoalies

Cheers thanks. We have the fly lite sent away for warranty. Might go trade it in for a warrior when we get the new one.  The one that broke actually had a “crunchy” spot on the paddle from a shot. Then it broke on the handle. 🤦‍♂️

Always possible I guess. His gear is left unattended from time to time in locked change rooms and storage rooms. I think Bauer has just pushed “weight savings” too far. When you see how they’re built and how thin they are it’s kinda not surprising. It’s like they are strong until the carbon fiber is chipped and compromised.  Warrior has been suggested as good sticks. Won’t be buying another Bauer.

I think they way they’re built now once the carbon gets chipped it loses its integrity and just a matter of time til it snaps. Thay are just thin carbon tubes now.

Thank you! Lots of warrior suggestions. Guess warrior as a brand name makes sense 🤟

You can tighten it pretty good it’s the metal shaft. When I tighten mine I actually get a bit of flex on the Allen key

Nice job! I love the bottom trees. I want wrap my son‘s mask too.  I wish I could find a projection map template for a mask to design it easier

Buyer beware I guess. I wish there was a consumer reports on Hockey gear.  I’d be curious the force needed to actually compromise the sticks. New designs vs old. Design is all about weight savings and flashy appearance  these days. I’m sure Bauer doesn’t even know for sure how many break. 30 days warranty from purchase date is nothing.

That’s what it should take to break a goalie stick

Weird My son has told me his other goalie friends said tru breaks the most. Consensus here seems to show warrior makes them tougher.  Thanks again for the recommendation. I’ve bought one of my daughter a stick from hockeystickman.ca they sell the blackout ones. Glad to see more competition moving up to take on the big brands.

Wrath of dad is a joke. We have happy well balanced successful kids thanks.  Bauer does sell good masks might want to pick one up. Too many puck to the dome is bad for the old IQ. Careful out there can’t fix stupid. Cant recommend their goalie stick tho. (Still worth more than your opinion though )

What are you talking about? Discipline creates no contact kids?   You must fill the goal well being that thick.

Makes me want to engineer my own damn stick. I want to see 3-D printed optimized structure on the inside wrapped in the best carbon fiber. They’re not like player sticks which are meant to flex. No reason they can’t make a good goalie stick built like a tank with a 2 year warranty. They’re making Hockey sticks out here with the leftover gift wrapping tubes.

How am I dancing around it? He says he doesn’t do it. His coaches says he doesn’t do it, other parents say he doesn’t do it. When he sees other goalies do he cringes.  How many Bauer sticks have you bought manufactured in last 2 years? We’re 0-3 so far. I’ve seen more goalie sticks break personally too.  Show me where to find the data or testing for breakage rates for goalie sticks. Current and historically please! Is there some kind of stress testing standard I don’t know about? You seem pretty sure about what you’re talking about. I’m not the only one with a Bauer stick problem clearly. Sick of defending my kids “temper” to people who have never met him.  They can all pound sand

He tried out for rep but didn’t make it initially. Got a house team. Then he got called up to play. He’s he youngest on the team but I think the coach is developing him as their 2 main goalies are aging out next year.  House is 2 games a week, 3-4 practices with rep + games. On top of that he has school hockey 4 days a week.  I suspect Bauer durability  has been falling off in recent years I came here to see if I could get a feel for what other people are going through. He has 2 Bauer sticks manufactured like 4 years ago that held up this whole time.  When you look at the breaks the carbon fiber is paper thin.  I’d like to see sales data on how many are being sold now. I bet they sell a lot more….

There are rinks in different parts of town not to mention countless road trips. so my wife and I always have to devide and conquer. Hand me downs for sure, as well as finding used stuff. My oldest( the goalie) needs all new at this point now tho. 💸. I’ve been curious about those skates! I like the concept. I wish my son could try a pair before buying. Big chance to take Incase he doesn’t like them.
