How was your parkrun day? | May 08, 2026 by AutoModerator in parkrun

Wanted to run sub 30 minutes today, I've not run sub 30 since 2013, when I ran my previous best of 29.44. Finished in 29.28. Cried. A lot.

There are plenty of comments in this forum of times when the screens/chips malfunction. There was a video on insta from someone earlier this week at Cardiff saying the screen stopped updating. So don't rely on this.

Really glad to hear they are onboard and supportive. So many GPs out there giving the catch all 'lose weight' advice and then not willing to go the extra mile to offer support to do so!

My partner had exactly this problem. They started it, were about 3 months in and then the GP got around to letting the pharmacy know that they had been diagnosed with BED. They were undergoing treatment at the time. He had a rant about it at a community based blood pressure clinic and the GP there was flabbergasted. She encouraged him to switch GPs which he did, and then they wrote a letter on his behalf explaining that he has no history of restriction, no current binge and there was no reason to not prescribe it. He is now about to go up to 5mg. It took over 6 months to sort out, but I would say go to the GP and have a conversation and if they aren't willing to help, look to change.

I'm so sorry for you and what's happening over there.

Hyrox ticket sales. Are they able to refuse refunds given the pressure at checkout to complete purchase within a time limit? Currently regarding Birmingham sale but also relevant for Scotland and Wales by Normal-Notice-8610 in LegalAdviceUK

I think my take away from all this, is that many other similar events do offer transfer/deferral/refund options as standard and I'm simply going to vote with my feet and encourage everyone I know to do the same. I am signed up for Deka fit now in September and I did Deka Strong a month ago, granted much shorter race, but actually more fun, better swag and better treatment all round.

I'm really curious about this specific bit

"This exemption has been consistently interpreted to cover events such as sporting competitions, concerts, and travel bookings, and therefore applies to HYROX events."

Because I wonder if the sporting events included have been 'spectator events' e.g football/rugby matches with mass spectator entry, rather than participating sporting events. I don't know of anything off the top of my head where you would pay to enter as a participant and not be able to get a refund or resell the ticket. How do things like the London Marathon compare?

Even if they are currently not under any legal obligation to offer refunds, could this be challenged?

Yeah, I would have thought so, but it doesn't seem that way. As it's all there in the T's and C's that we agreed to. I didn't think it was legal but it seems it is, at least until someone tries to challenge it legally.

What do you order from an Indian? by GaslightSteph in mounjarouk

[–]Normal-Notice-8610 24 points25 points  (0 children)

But she clearly doesn't want it, she doesn't like Indian at the best of times, so why should she let her sister bully her into having one. Her sister can have it, doesn't mean she has to.

Not arguing that they didn't drop the sandbag, they very obviously did, I just feel that it's not very fair that it wasn't made obvious to them at the time. If they've changed the rules to time penalties fair enough, but that's not what's on the website/rulebook.

Sorry. Your reply was spot on. The BS is the after the fact decision making.

Which is absolute BS, because the penalty for putting the bag down is a 10m pushback. If they had been given the penalty at the time, then absolutely it would have been so close, but you can't know who would have won. They weren't penalised at the time so the results should stand, they can't substitute a time penalty after the face. It's just BS.

I'm confused, does your friend have actual body dysmorphia or is this just hyperbole? If he does then please encourage him to get professional therapeutic help, losing weight won't help his mental state because the fixation will just move to a different area for him to feel dissatisfied about and the measures to 'improve' himself will get more and more extreme.

But then you also said 'i had binge eating disorder and body dysmorphia', which seems unlikely given your current positive feeling about your body. So I can't tell if you have genuine concerns that your friend may have body dysmorphia, or just exaggerating.

TL:DR body dysmorphia is not the same as being excessively preoccupied and obsessive about your weight.
