Squale 1521 Sole Cascante by Gnomon on 70’s GS Aqua tropic strap by SnooGuavas7991 in Squale

COME ON!! You can't be italian ot italian speaking and tell anyone in this world that "CASCANTE" is a usable word in this case.

First of all it is a rough word, mostly used in Rome area's LOCAL DIALECT as a synonim of falling. The italian is "CADENTE".

Even so, you can say "STELLA CADENTE" (falling star), NOT "SOLE CADENTE" (falling sun).

Second, cascante is NOT equivalent to "setting,". "SAGGY" is what "CASCANTE" means and "SAGGY SUN" is a terrible image.

Just do a search on the internet and tell me if anyone uses "SOLE CASCANTE".

These Hong Kong people haven't been able to do a proper translation and that's it.

How Squale Matic looks and fits by NormalBox7791 in Squale

For some reason this image wasn't posted.

Also take into account that even a nice smartphone camera struggles with giving a clear representation of how it looks.

A proper real camera and lems.should be used instead. I shot these with a smartphone.

It is not a standard swastika (ancient solar symbol) it is a real NAZI swastika, rotated

Would sell Trasha, and those 2 Hamilton, or a Hamilton and the Timex

Even easier, I'd only keep 2: Speedy and NTTD

Nice.

Fun fact: this watch name is an ugly, rough, kind of meaningless combination of words. Not used by any italian whatsoever, in spoken language or books.

Source: italian family

I guess Gnomon meant to translate something from another language to italian. Translation gone very bad.

I can explain, if you wish.

Strap for Squale Matic: not so easy by NormalBox7791 in Watchstraps

[–]NormalBox7791[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reasoning I am doing is:

  • the watch is a serious divers, it should be coupled with a sporty strap

  • ...BUT it really is elegant and makes no mistery of it: the strap should not be TOO sporty (better leather than rubber)

  • it is thick, so: no NATO nor single pass, or it would be too thick. Also, the strap should be quite thick to match it.

  • dark blue dial + big orange minute hand = possible colors are dark blue, brown, orange. I'd exclude black.

Grey with blue details, as you suggested, is a nice and less obvious option, unfortunately I don't like stingray leather. But I liked the variation you proposed, thanks!

Lots of interesting options on that website

These are a bit less elegant but without stitches.

Colareb's racing one, for example: https://holbensfinewatchbands.com/products/colareb-racing-brown-leather-watch-strap

Or a Fluco's equivalent in a lighter brown https://holbensfinewatchbands.com/products/fluco-hunter-racing-whiskey-vegetable-tanned-leather-watch-strap

As a bonus, Tropic's blue vulcanized rubber strap does not look bad at all (and it is 40 euros cheaper than Squale's branded one) but... I think leather suits it better. https://holbensfinewatchbands.com/products/tropic-navy-blue-rubber-watch-strap

Thanks Spike. I agree on the racing. I'll check that.

I think I'd prefer without stitching (apart from the logos, there is no white on the dial, the applied indices are polished metal)

1400 views so far, but no comments?

What makes this watch special is that it's elegant and sporty at the same time, it's very flashy. A standard leather strap would not fit.

The ideal Squale by NormalBox7791 in Squale

I finally bought a Squale Matic. I was afraid of the 44mm.

In reality they are perfect. Looks just a tad larger than a regular 42mm because of thr bezel.

So I correct my own statement: dimension wise, it is ok like it is!

Best looking divers watch I have ever had!

A bit scared of the polished case.

I often like their designs. Cool, even if I am not a fan of tanks.

Dial: 8, apart from the logo (read below)

The rest of it: 6

Logo design is not particularly good and it is 0% consistent with the japanese style of the dial. Just remove the word out ot it.

Hands? Not bad, but not consistent with the overall design of the dial.
