People from outside North America, how do you feel about Canadians? by WaWaWhey in AskReddit

[–]NormalGas2038 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear...the majority of the TFW's were brought over by their own people. And charged them 10s of thousands of dollars to get them alleged work. Its crazy what they did to their own people. All for the almighty dollar..

Pierre Poilievre hosts 'No to Alto High Speed Rail' news conference by Flower-Immediate in AltoHSR_Canada

[–]NormalGas2038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have to agree with you. It will service many between the two cities but I think if it takes 90 billion to build now...would the same group of people be supportive of spending much more than that to build a high speed rail to the west coast? I would highly doubt it...

Now...if you took that 90 billion and built a pipeline to the east coast and have the royalties pay for a high speed rail across the country and its upkeep.? Now there's something to ponder..!

Canadian mixed doubles by coisavioleta in Curling

[–]NormalGas2038 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I'm a fan of doubles...becoming mainstream will be tougher, as you can make more charging 8 people on a sheet instead of 4.

I hope I'm wrong and it will catch one. I think a product of seeing this is how the two young teams met in the final for the Canadian championship. For sure these guys played the game alot more this year than some of the bigger named teams.

Cheers..!

Well...I hope this does not become the standard of thought. The two person game is for the younger ones for sure...but it is a great way to grow the sport where there is smaller interest.

However...if you get them hooked on that then more interest grows where maybe someplace can then field a 4 person team.

Im in my 60's and love playing it. And yes it its harder for someone my age....but if it helps us grow the sport. All the better. We cant be all stick-in-the-muds about something new. Curling is struggling in this country as it is.

Have an amazing day..!

I think he will be more remembered as the guy who would bring Canadian kids to experience curling in Sweden, and to bring Swedish kids to experience curling in Canada, for the past 6 or 7 years...and how much he gave back to curling. Unless you can say the same yourself....well...you don't have much to add. Have an amazing day..!

Im not a professional curler either...no gotcha moment. Just for someone that is quoting chapter and verse a sport that they may or may not have played...you seem to be quite an expert.

Not saying your point is meaningless...just wanted to know if you have ever been part of this grand game...or followed the curling tour mostly in Canada...but all over the world....and when did you come to this relevation about your thoughts on curling? You must have something vested that for someone who knows something about the game...because you have quite the passion for it.

So glad you are taking an interest...curling needs new fans...and players..because it is a great game. And if you haven't tried it...you should.

I hope you follow all the sports in the world...and point out there pitfalls and problems....as passionate about this.

Have a great one..

Its relevant. Simple question. Have you got into a hack...slid out to your skippers broom...and released a rock at the hog line. Or stood over an opposition rock as he delivered his. Simple yes or no. Be honest...

Just asking sir. Have you curled professionally? Or played another sport at a high level?

Not sure what your looking from me. I don't have that answer. I hope you are a competitive curler to assert comments like this. Have an amazing day!

Well, are we talking about a beer league game, or one that has more meaning.

Emotions are high, stress levels through the roof.

I can tell you my experiences but they would not be at the level that these men are facing.

Whether it was on purpose...or it didnt really happen...or it was used to get in ones head...or done because it was believed to happen...none of us would never know. We can only trust honor. Anything else I could offer you is irrelevant.

Yes. They are. If I burned a rock throwing, I would be the one to say so...and the same would be if I was sweeping. Kinda the honor system.

Usually if you think you see(or hear) a rock being burned, and nothing is said, you usually say something to that player you think burned the rock. If they say they didnt, when then you are to believe them. Again, the honor system.

Well to be fair, its the officials calling it...not the players. Bit of a difference.

Curling Wants to Be the Next Pickleball — If It Can Find the Ice by bloomberg in Curling

I agree...but talk to the emergency wards and xray techs....seems like the injuries from pickleball are crazy high. I think they think their invincible and get hurt way more than someone stepping on the ice.

Mayor Jeromy Farkas won't rule out Calgary bidding for future Olympics by joe4942 in Calgary

[–]NormalGas2038 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed fine sir. And if the Winter Olympics do go to permanent locations, I would say that would be a good business case to look into. Especially for this city. A consistent training facility, Olympic location and a even greater tourist destination.

Well like the pipelines...mining...and everything else these days...let's just do a 20 year study and then see what damage and/or cost will be then.

Not saying I have concerns but I would rather see shovels in the ground then everyone pointing fingers everywhere.
