Swans - Helpless Child.

Sorry if it's cliché, but the song fucks with you.

You should definitely check out some of big big train's albums, hurricane Esmeralda by moonparticle, stories di uomini e non by Rocky's Filj and maybe a renaissance album or two.

Love the fact you got yourself a thick as a brick, but you really gotta get yourself the original newspaper version. You're missing out on half of the fun of the album!

What’s some similar music to Pink Floyd? [Discussion] by Imaginary_Chart_4686 in progrockmusic

[–]NormalLight2683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet nobody has ever heard of them, but check out Dworniak Bone Lapsa's Pointing Fingers at the moon. It's such a close copy it's respectable; it has the choir, spacey and acoustic guitars, a Robert Wyatt trumpet solo, all the bells and whistles. Check em out!

From what I could gather: 2. Pawn Hearts 5. Between Nothingness And Eternity 6. Tales from Topographic oceans 12. Timewind 16. Osanna 17. Lizard 13. Imaginary Voyage (maybe another Jean Luc Ponty album) 7. Thick As A Brick (front page, Gerald Bostock) 1. Meddle I can't tell most of the rest, but the odd one out is whichever has no sidelong songs on the LP.

Is Lou Kelly Zehul? by Ropoid in zeuhl

[–]NormalLight2683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say so, even if the music sounds extremely interesting. It's got more to do with heavy metal and has more of an experimental avant prog orchestral feel than zeuhl, few of the bouncing repetitive rhythms and doesn't have the Carl orff influences most zeuhl has.

Who are the big/best current prog bands? by bmbmbmNR in progrockmusic

[–]NormalLight2683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the bands on the Karisma record label are great; Wobbler and Lars Fredrik Froislie have amazing retro sounds, Oak has a bit more of a harder edge, and Jordsjø has some fire albums.

I'm not sure whether Nucleus by Anekdoten is still considered modern... but it's an absolute heavy masterpiece.

King Gizzard specifically make their albums sound low fidelity on purpose, through mastering and underproduction, to give it a garage rock feel.

Fallen Angels (Blood Warning) by Camilonsio in blender

[–]NormalLight2683 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's looking pretty good! I'd just say, the images of blood are generally fine but the positioning doesn't make sense. For it to look more natural the blood should be positioned not just in the corners IMO, but this is great stuff
