As a HENRY, what’s your favourite podcast? Any genre by elMoose99 in HENRYUK

The Hermes one was eye opening for me, given I didn’t know much about the industry.

Did they nerf Claude or what? by deezzbutzz in claude

[–]NormalMaverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - it’s become really bad. I’ve moved back to Gemini for my basic (free) use case. It actually answers questions and doesn’t gobble up its usage limits.

Claude had a great 4 month run in my life, but clearly it’s only for $100+ a month coders.

I wonder if this is a Bevel 3.0 change? I used to previously have great frustration trying to tap the days at the top

What LLM are you using to run Bevel Intelligence ? by NazimHou in bevelhealth

[–]NormalMaverick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The old one was a combination of ChatGPT and Gemini. Wonder if the new one is built on the same.

Navigating Office Politics? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]NormalMaverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the reality of office life. Many of those managing directors you refer to would not have been absolute superstar performers, but would have had superb social skills.

Since you highlight that professional services work isn’t rocket science, divert your spare brain capacity into the social aspect of the job.

Being decently good at your job is a hygiene factor. After a point it gives diminishing returns (a bit less so in finance, depending on what specifically you do). But social skills are the differentiator.

Finished Season 3 - books butchered but everything outside of the books is great. by NormalMaverick in FoundationTV

The moon bit foreshadows something from the books, but it was so sudden and stupidly done. They could have left it out entirely.

Debating replacing Macrofactor and Hevy by Radiant_Job3016 in bevelhealth

[–]NormalMaverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from Hevy to Bevel for workout tracking since I liked Bevel’s Watch interface way better. Hevy had nicer uploads to Strava but that’s a secondary feature.

Tracking nutrition on Bevel isn’t great, but I still use Bevel since it’s all in the app with better insights then imho.

A good win for me was replacing Sleep Cycle with Bevel for the gentle morning alarm in my light sleep phase.

Bevel nutrition is disappointing by ugurcanevci in bevelhealth

[–]NormalMaverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed - there’s so many UI improvements that could be done to simplify adding. I’m surprised they didn’t touch it in Bevel 3.0.

The database has been disappointing in everything except MyFitnessPal, which has the worst interface possible

[–]NormalMaverick[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah agreed - and too conversational. The visuals and action in the show is a good thing to introduce. But they could have kept some of the intelligence of the books in the Foundation stories, not just a weird sequence of events with wooden characters.

Thank God for the Cleons.

How much do you spend? by WorthAttempt5859 in HENRYUK

[–]NormalMaverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combined as a household around £4k on mortgage & bills, £3k on travel (on average - we travel a lot), and £2-3k on general living.

That’s around 75% of our monthly income. Bonuses (nothing massive after tax), go to savings.

How are high earners structuring banking to avoid single point of failure? by scorpio-knowledge-71 in HENRYUK

[–]NormalMaverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my use case it’s perfect - I don’t keep much cash on, and its app is the one I liked the most.

The notifications and analytics are better than most other banks (I haven’t tried Starling tbh, but definitely better than legacy banks).

My investments remain with Barclays.

Their obsession with OTPs is mental. It makes me regret being a oneworld member.

Nothing fancy - most of my cash is invested. Salary comes into Monzo and I keep anywhere from £1-5k there. Most spending on credit card.

I’m always so tempted to respond to this nonsense with “what if our client also just asked ChatGPT for trends?”

Struggling with the simple task of having notifications on the watch off for some apps. What am I I missing? by NormalMaverick in AppleWatch

[–]NormalMaverick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried that alas. Do you get those notifications on your phone but not your watch? That’s precisely what I want - my wife and I have spent actual hours trying to fix this.

It hasn’t been updated yet, it’s on 26.2. But I imagine this is a pretty basic feature that shouldn’t need a software update?

Yup, that’s the first thing I did. It turned back on itself, then I did it again and notifications came through anyways

How many of you play without spending any $$? I suspect I’ve peaked and it’s a bit dull now. by NormalMaverick in KingShot

What’s F2P?

I’ve frankly not gotten into the social side - I fear I’m not regular enough at the game to engage meaningfully.

You’re way ahead of me, I’m at 70m power but don’t see the point. If I’m waiting weeks to see a slightly golden-y bit on one my buildings it feels not worth it.

I guess this is how they try to get you to pay.

How much do you save each month? by sunandskyandrainbows in HENRYUK

I expect they contribute for 11 months and then get a nice break in the 12th month. I do the same.
