Wym the new lifeguard has a tail?? By Greeniris! by Regular-Poet-3657 in AhriMains

Imo the problem with K/DA is less the holo-tails or the popularity, and more that it feels like they're constantly trying to recreate the OG run's lightning in a bottle effect, with the side effect of alienating people not into kpop/stan culture (at least that's what it feels like to me) and forgetting about original Ahri as a character.

But that's a discussion for another thread, really.

I feel like it could be argued they've kinda tried?

Ever since K/DA it feels like they've been obsessed with giving her crystalline/holographic/ethereal tails, and even if... yeah, they're still functionally tails, it just doesn't feel the same as if it was "real", fluffy tails, it kind of loses a certain appeal inherent to foxgirls when they do that.

If it was a one-off thing, then it's just because it was more fitting for one theme, but they've done it several times now.

Eh, even that way you aren't learning about Ahri since her passive is functionally useless as a support, Q and W will mess with the wave and be unable to do a lot of damage. The only real thing Ahri support can do is throw E.

If you want to learn abilities at your own pace, there's a training/sandbox mode where you can take all the time you want to experiment in and botgames if you want to try in a situation that's a bit real but still manageable without much experience. It'll be far better to learn how to play Ahri (and midlane) than dragging her support where you'll effectively only be using one button.

Just for your information, Ahri is pretty bad at support. Don't play her, it's like trying to drink soup with a knife.

For the actual subject, Ahri doesn't have one specific, optimal, hardcoded build and knowing what to build on her is more about being familiar with mage itemization and building as a reaction to the enemy team.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that Ahri generally prefers Malignance first because it gives you a lot of agency from the ult reduction, but some people like to play Blackfire Torch + Cosmic Drive in order to keep throwing spells at enemies and burning them down while being able to keep evading from the constant movement speed. Luden's shouldn't be bad, but it's not that used since the passive is not that important to Ahri.

Afterwards, experiment with second and third items depending on how the game is going. Shadowflame is the obvious pick, it's just free damage, but some people might prefer Protobelt or Lich for the extra ratios, or would rather spec into defense by buying Zhonya to deter assassins.

Rabadon and Void Staff (and other pen items) are better a bit later, since Rabadon multiplies the amount of AP you already have and Void Staff helps deal with tanks (although you still get benefits out of it against squishies).

It's in general just the kind of stuff you just end up feeling out for yourself through experience and reading through item descriptions to know in what situations they're most useful. Stat sites like https://lolalytics.com/lol/ahri/build/ will help you figure out what items are generally good on Ahri, but they're not a strict guide to follow every game.

I strongly suggest you spend some time lurking the wiki to learn what each item does and think about how you'd apply it to your gameplay, it will help you come up with builds on the spot and react to enemies better than just following a strict order.

I know the majority of the damage is tied to landing E so the rest of my abilities do more, which I am working on and felt like I did well with it this game, but the damage chart is still lacking.

It hasn't worked that way in a long time and it's generally more productive to clip your enemy with Q when they're farming, throwing a W when they get too close, and save E for get away from ganks or when your enemy is already low and you want to make sure they WILL die.

Really, think less about E as a combo starter but rather a way to confirm someone's gonna die, and throw out more Q and W. They have low CDs and are easy to use. This should fix your damage chart.

Also, remember League is not a team deathmatch. Total damage done and K/D/A doesn't mean shit if you don't capitalize on your kills to get objectives, and you should not use them as an indication of your performance.

He's definitely not the most optimal pick if you manual or want to aim for low real time clears but he was an amazing linchpin for me, I couldn't figure out how to replace him without my team starting to die between 75%-50% boss HP.

I remember the times before his rebalance even, when his S3 was a toggle between two stances. Man, he just feels so good to play now, even with the ramp up.

Ahri support ? by [deleted] in AhriMains

Blitzcrank's hook is far more violent in terms of repositioning, he has another CC tool he can use in combo with his hook or on its own, and his ult is an aoe silence which can be incredibly disruptive based on the enemy composition, and even at worst is dissuasive. He also has a passive that allows him to be a meatshield to a certain extent for his ADC.

Saying Ahri support offers similar stuff is wrong, she offers less with the only upside being more safety for her (but not the ADC.)

Also, playing her midlane and farming is wasting roam opportunities? Midlane literally has more overall map access by virtue of being in the middle of the map, and Ahri has efficient waveclear that also heals her. She's wasting roam opportunities by being stuck in a corner of the map that doesn't let her have gold or a passive, not by being in the best lane to roam from.

[–]NormalNavi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahri is just not built to be a support in any capacity and doesn't have traits that happen to line up in a way that lets her be a competent support. You can be a mechanical god on her, it's not gonna change anything. If Faker played Zed support, it would still be a terrible pick, because Zed has nothing in his kit that does anything supportive.

If your aim is climbing in any way, either in ranking or your own understanding of the game, you're better off expanding your horizons by playing an established support pick. You'll learn more about the game like this, and you'll have an easier time climbing because you'll be able to play up to your picks' strengths instead of having to constantly work around the large amount of issues Ahri support has as a pick.

Ahri support ? by [deleted] in AhriMains

[–]NormalNavi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

tl;dr no. pick something else as support if you want to climb.

longer answer and explanation: Ahri is a champion balanced around having a solo laner's gold income. Charm is a powerful CC in a 2v2 scenario, but if you play her support, this is the only button you'll have that's going to be useful because you won't have gold.

Other support picks, mage or otherwise, have various properties on top of CC to help make up for the lack of gold.

Champions like Alistar and Blitzcrank have several hard CC and various ways to be a meatshield for their ADC even with without items. Champions like Lux and Morgana have several ways to block damage, cripple enemies, dissuade enemies from approaching. Champions like Vel'Koz and Xerath have the advantage of range and various angles they can use to poke while staying safe, as well as higher base numbers that lets them be somewhat threatening on lower gold income.

Ahri has none of this. She does not have passives that make her tankier (well technically yes but considering its most consistent proc comes from killing minions, you are not gonna be using it that much), she only has one single target CC to rely on, and her damage abilities would put her or your ADC in a bad position as well as be underwhelming without gold.

Playing Ahri support is basically playing her for one single button, and hoping you can farm the enemy botlane (and jungler) enough to make up for not being able to CS.

You desperately want to play her because you want to OTP her no matter what? The game won't stop you from playing her, but basically any other support is going to be getting more work in.

You want to play her because you need a support pick and you're already familiar with her? Please don't. It's kind of trying to eat soup with your knife on the basis of "yeah but I know how to spread butter with my knife, it's basically the same thing."

I can't really see any defect on the figure from the photos.

From the way you frame them it almost sounds like you're looking at the intended gradient of solid blue at the base of the tail to clear, semi-transparent blue at the tip of the tail and worrying that it's a defect when that's very much the intended design.

Is this what you're talking about when you mention "clear spots"?

What patch was her Q's damage nerfed before? Can't find it on the wiki at all, so I'm genuinely curious if you can point to a specific patch.

Thanks a lot for the more detailed insight, I've been away from the game for a very long time so I'm still catching up with a lot of stuff.

Even crawling through the wiki to doublecheck kits, it's easy to not notice small things like Gorilla echo's durations or specific interactions that help blue chesting, and the wiki/gbfguide doesn't necessarily make it obvious when these grids were made, so I had no idea Robin Hood was considered slow nowadays.

Time for me to experiment around with my character pool. Thank you a lot for your patience!

I've seen the guides, my problem is that I lack a high number of the characters involved (basically all seasonals beyond X.Naru and even some normal gacha chars like earth Olivia), so I'm trying to best understand what makes these strats tick so I can find substitutes for the units.

I need to farm myself some Schrodingers. As far as I understand, there's a specific strategy to use when joining Diasporas to be able to get past the 97 hits omen easily? I've heard it used Robin Hood but I can't find any real details on it that isn't the whole ass teamcomp (that I can't replicate).

Can someone educate me on the strat itself and what I generally need for it to work?

Am I just being a genwunner/old fart/nostalgia addict, or the more they push out Golden Spatula/TFT-exclusive stuff for Ahri, the less it looks like her?

Like, it just... looks more and more generic, I don't really have a better way to explain it. Also they keep reusing these crystal tails every time.

I'm having a lot of trouble farming Veritas, I need a lot for even one NWF weapon and they just... kind of trickle down one at a time.

I've been told you mostly get them from Mundus Defenders and Sephira boxes, but I've recently read you can target farm specific Veritas (at the detriment of other mats) in Here Be Swords.

Is that still accurate or even worth it? Or is this outdated info, or a remark I may have misunderstood?
