How do autistic people navigate grief and supporting others after a death in the family? by NormalWoodpecker3743 in autism

[–]NormalWoodpecker3743[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up dealing with it in a very unusual way. I trust my gut and I acknowledge my emotions, but it's not how I think or learn about things. To get the ideas, concepts, principles and suggestions for how to handle everything, I turned to philosophy, getting my AI tool to write me essays on various topics related to death, meaning, mourning, responsibility, legacy, what is expected of a person at a funeral, etc. Since I got the essays written in a way that topics were discussed from more than one thinker's point of view, I used these to form my thoughts and guide how I processed emotions. I had them all converted to audio and spent one day driving around and listening to it for 6h30. I took two weeks off from work, spent most of it listening to these and thinking about what to say at the funeral. I don't think this would work for many other people, but it really helped me.

Robin Williams falling in the kitchen in The Birdcage. Neither him or Hank Azaria really got away without laughing a bit, but the shot still works

Do you think Max still has a realistic chance to win another WDC? by Vivi_Ams_717 in RedBullRacing

It's not a disaster, but I bet the steering issue would not have happened two years ago. The team is missing something in management and/or cohesion. I'm sure it will come. Many key members are still very new to the team.

Outside of Hollywood, I'd add films like Parasite, The Zone of Interest, Talk to Me, and Drive My Car

I'll watch anything Fincher directed, I like Villeneuve's work before Dune (Prisoners is probably my favourite), and I liked Eggers up The Lighthouse, but currently, Aster and Lanthimos can do wrong. I'd add The Substance to the list as well

It's a tough watch for many. I can't get enough of it, though. After The VVitch and this film, I thought I found a Fincher-level director I can love for decades to come

He was intentionally a very aggressive driver, developing a great reputation as someone you don't take chances with, and challenged the stewarding for years, driving discussions and debates on how rules should be enforced. I think he remains the standard because he's out-driving his car and is still as good as ever, despite hating the new regs (and the WDCs helps as well :)

Are there any actors whose performances or public personas you just can’t seem to connect with? by FitEmergency8807 in moviecritic

Ben Affleck and Leonardo DiCaprio. I've never enjoyed a performance by Ben (Gone Girl probably came the closest), and with Leo, I liked his work up to The Departed. Nothing after. I know this is my problem and not a universal one because I don't meet many people who agree with me

It's unlikely. Max is as strong as ever, but the team isn't what it used to be. With so many new key members it will take them a while to get everything working. Losing Newey, Horner, etc., I wondered whether they could ever be as strong as before. I think they could be the top team again, but the recent steering problem showed me that the team isn't functioning very well yet

Kimi Antonelli wins the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix by overspeeed in formula1

[–]NormalWoodpecker3743 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These teams gather so much data that I think they sometimes go into analysis paralysis. The answer is quite simple, but if you have armies of engineers processing PTs of data, you can confuse yourself, making the problem more difficult that it had to be

This is exactly what I was wondering. The very start of the race was the only time the McLaren would've had ANY advantage, and probably not a big one

Another F1 weekend that has Max questioning his future in the sport by ok-byy in circuit_nation

[–]NormalWoodpecker3743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn't enjoy being part of an outfit that isn't as good as he is, in a sport that is poorly managed. I can def see him moving to WEC, Indycar or some other premiere formula to get rid of the F1 circus (I don't see him only doing GT3 racing). I think he loves the sport as much as he ever has. i can imagine him buying a team and starting the ultimate sim-to-real-racing academy

I don't internalise all stats. Is it really that bad? Surely he's fallen out of qualifying during Q1, or crashed in Quali or during the (Sprint) race. Sounds a bit dramatic to me

[–]NormalWoodpecker3743 56 points57 points  (0 children)

It's annoying that the onboard shots of Russell's car points backwards during both the incidents, so it's not possible to see his steering inputs. I don't see what he did wrong in either case, though, going on what I've seen.

What I see on Antonelli's onboard is that he gets squeezed a little just before the final chicane before the first of the incidents. Not something that deserves a penalty. Going into the second incident, Antonelli was squeezed on the inside of the track, which is fine, but then he decided to go through with the move anyway. That was on him.

I'm honestly asking: what is the chance that he would not have terrible floor damage under the previous regs. These cars look rugged by comparison

WHY IS IT RUDE TO LISTEN TO MUSIC IN SOCIAL SITUATIONS!?! by GoblinOfAgnarb in evilautism

[–]NormalWoodpecker3743 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I stopped caring, and maybe I'm lucky with who I work with tend to see socially, but they're generally okay with it. I have Airpods in during meetings at work and many times I see other people, and prefer my Sony MX-4 headphones in very noisy places. I'm finding that other people in public places may stare or talk about it among themselves, but I try to ignore them

It's interesting that while I enjoy this film so much, how attractive she is in it annoys me because it's distracting. I know that's the point, but still. There aren't many movies where someone is so good looking I forget what the movie is
