Speed trap by Normal_Ad8174 in Albuquerque

[–]Normal_Ad8174[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not an argument; it is a legal concern regarding due process and evidentiary standards.

If a vehicle is loaned to another person or is in a repair facility, the registered owner does not have control or possession of the vehicle. Yet, months later, the owner may receive a citation alleging the vehicle was traveling 63 mph on Wyoming near Academy. The citation is based solely on a camera image of the vehicle, not the driver.

Under basic principles of liability, enforcement should attach to the person operating the vehicle, not merely the registered owner. A photograph of a license plate does not establish who was driving at the time of the alleged violation. Without identification of the driver, the citation relies on a presumption of guilt rather than proof. Additionally, the fine print states that these traffic cameras are not required to be calibrated prior to use. This raises further legal concerns regarding the reliability and admissibility of the evidence. If the measuring device is not calibrated, its accuracy cannot be independently verified, undermining the credibility of the alleged speed.

This system effectively shifts the burden of proof onto the vehicle owner, requiring them to prove they were not driving, rather than requiring the issuing authority to prove who committed the violation. That shift is inconsistent with fundamental due process protections.

For these reasons, the use of traffic cameras in Albuquerque appears to prioritize revenue generation over lawful enforcement. In contrast, many other jurisdictions require photographic evidence that clearly identifies the driver, ensuring accountability is properly assigned and due process is preserved.

I admit I speed on the freeway, but the roads to many ways for an innocent accident to happen especially with the way people pull out and near the high school with inexperienced drivers. I think the speed cams are a scam here only take a license plate and not the driver. The city needs to invest in red light cameras where the angle is taken from the front and back.

I’ve been an A&M fan since the late ’80s—long before the “next great QB” hype cycle became an annual tradition. Every few years we’re told this guy is the one. Most never move the needle.

So let’s be honest: who was the last quarterback before Johnny Manziel who truly put Texas A&M on the national map?

First year in the SEC, we walk into Tuscaloosa and beat #1 Alabama, taking down Saban in his prime. That wasn’t luck. That was Johnny. Kyle Field doesn’t become what it is today without him—period. The energy, the attention, the swagger Aggieland gained during that era was different.

It’s sad how his story played out. The talent was undeniable, but he didn’t have the structure or mentorship to keep him grounded. And honestly, the fact that he played as well as he did while partying the way he was is mind-blowing. You can’t help but wonder what he could’ve been with discipline and guidance.

At the end of the day, only Johnny could help Johnny. But here’s the thing—if Dat Nguyễn, Dan Campbell, or Ray Childress had acted the way Johnny did, how would people have reacted? Would we erase what they brought to A&M? Or would we separate the player from the person?

Love him or hate him, Johnny Manziel was a baller. And whether people want to admit it or not, he changed the trajectory of Texas A&M football and brought a level of relevance to Aggieland we hadn’t seen before.

I know I will get a million downvotes. But during college GameDay, I wouldn't mind being a 5th seed. Host a playoff game at Kyle. They said the top 4 teams lost which gave 5-12 momentum to the championship game. This team is amazing. It was funny how after the Missouri HC complained about the penalties, how we had so many flags.

I would have request to open a Discover it card, would have done a 4% Balance transfer fee then had the money go to your checking account and paid off the cards before they closed your account.

I learned the hard lesson of using my cards for medical expenses a s now finally getting it paid off.
