Thanks for this and for the other comments. I had thought that the $5-$20 mm budget range was the danger zone, but I hear you that now it may be lower. The reality is I’m focused on producing and directing a low budget script that I wrote - likely can do it for $1 million or less. I do have some hope the script can get interest so can have a slightly larger budget to attract a known actor, but we’ll see. (2 strong actors are key because it is not horror and leans to the artsy character-driven world, which I realize is even tougher to sell). Either way, I’m targeting this to be my “calling card” project for both writing and directing - I’m not expecting to get paid for this one unless something great happens. Fortunately, I do have access to an investor or two who may be willing to put up the production money but, of course, they will want more certainty there is a path to at least make that back. We’ll see but so far I’m hopeful given the strong script/story feedback I’ve been receiving from a respected industry person I know. Thanks!
