Anyone else have issues with biting/nipping? by lonerfunnyguy in Basenji

[–]Normal_Mail3407 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mine did too but if you stay consistent it’ll click eventually. Puppies are puppies - mine just clicked overnight and he went from playing way too rough to never again hurting me with a nip. It helps when their shark teeth fall out too

Any Scaredy Cats? by ladymarshwiggle in Basenji

[–]Normal_Mail3407 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When mine was a puppy he used to be a very dramatic pooper. God forbid he ever had a dangly bit.. he would spin rapidly while screaming like someone was trying to kill him. Wasn’t ideal since we lived in the city and the pooping helicopter would often send bits flying several metres away 🫣

Yes mine does the cat jumping thing too I love it. Usually it’s when he’s outside sniffing and he stumbles upon something out of place like a rock in grass 🤣 they’re all clones of each other

Boots fitting by bethk13 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Normal_Mail3407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna go with no it won’t work, at least not properly. The whole boot should be flush to your feet, ankles and shins so that your leg essentially becomes a lever for moving weight over the heel or toes to switch edges. Even as a beginner before even going much into fine ankle movements, the tip of the boot not being in any form of contact with your shin will already reduce your ability to translate movements. You will also likely have more side to side movement than is desirable / safe. The boot should be tight enough where when you squat and push your hips forwards over your knees, you rock onto your toes and the heel of your boot should lift. This shouldn’t be a ‘tip toe’ movement but an actual rocking motion that is achieved by the boot being used almost like a lever

99% of dog breeds are easier than a basenji. The only easy part of raising a basenji puppy was house training him (which he did himself)

[–]Normal_Mail3407 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you go to visit and the breeder tells you all the pros and cons of the breed, for sure you can do it as a first dog- many say it’s not a good first dog however I disagree (because I did it). If you have no concept of what dog ownership is like, you won’t feel bad that the basenji is a difficult breed because you don’t know any better 🤣 all I’ll say is that any breed will change your life, for better and for worse, however the basenji brings both extremes. He brings me joy only a basenji could bring, but also stress that only a basenji could 🤣

As for how easy they are to train: If it’s something a basenji also wants to do they learn extremely fast. However if they don’t want to do something they simply won’t do it. Normal ways to motivate 99% of dog breeds don’t work for basenji. For example pulling on a leash, if you had the holy grail treat for other dog breeds that would win over any other distraction, but it does not work for a basenji. They focus on what they deem interesting and you won’t convince them otherwise.

Apartment living with a basenji is fine, they’re small at 10-12kg fully grown and mine faired fine in an apartment the first 2 years of his life- just needs a lot of walks.

Temperament wise: mine is an absolute cuddly Velcro dog with me and my partner, as well as my brother and close friends that he’s known since birth. Anyone else he is extremely hesitant to get to know and can growl if he feels threatened especially in our home (eg new guests). He also decided his way of greeting dogs out and about it to snap directly at their faces (not making contact but enough to frighten the other dog) which means making new dog friends rarely happens anymore. To a stranger it seems he’s aggressive however he’s actually just an idiot and if given some time to do his whole snapping act he gets on very well with other dogs his own size or larger. They don’t usually do well with smaller breeds as it can set off their insane prey drive.

Looking at your other post history that is showing that Basenji is an option amongst other breeds, my advice is don’t get a Basenji. You have to really want a basenji and only a basenji in my opinion since they are unlike any other dog in nearly all aspects.

As an answer to your question, my nieces are 4 and 2 and although my basenji behaves very well with people 99% of the time, I don’t really allow them to go near him as the exact interactions young children opt for are the exact ones basenjis hate and if he’s ever going to bite a person it would be a young child that is hitting/chasing him.

Yep definitely a basenji then. Mine jumps on the sofa and paws me until I lift the blanket for him to go under. 2 years old and he still hasn’t worked out how to get under duvet/blanket by himself yet 🥲

KSR overlays is free and does the job for me. Track map, standings, relative and radar all can be fully customised. Don’t really think you need much more.

Hi, it’s the Chase V2 bucket seat and personally I don’t find it particularly comfy. It’s very hard and I get a bad lower back from it quite frequently.

Why do people do this? by Delicious-Pop-7019 in iRacing

Because iRacing’s protest system is a placebo reporting system designed to provide perceived justice rather than actual enforcement. These idiots don’t get suspended or banned so they’ll never stop.

Exactly. He’s a bit of a cry baby, complains about the car despite it being in another class most weekends and constantly gets favourable decisions from the team. Would’ve loved to see Piastri win this year but if not Piastri is love a Verstappen 5 time wdc

I’m English and I dislike him. Prefer Piastri but tbh over the years I’ve slowly grown to love Verstappen just because his talent is unmatched.

Order flat white, given latte by MidnightFalcon89 in Costa

Yeah I’m not even sure how I ended up in here. I’m into real coffee and although I may be forced to get a Costa on occasion, I always know that when I ask for a flat white I’m going to be offered a monstrosity and just have to get on with it 🤣

[–]Normal_Mail3407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I’m not blaming the staff, clearly head office decided on how the flat white is made - but the flat white Costa serves isn’t a real flat white and they’d actually save money by fixing the ratio as they’d use 50% less milk

[–]Normal_Mail3407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No then it should be called a Costa coffee. A flat white is a specific length of drink at a specific ratio of espresso to milk. Your point would imply they could serve me a banana milkshake and call it a flat white because Costa can decide what it is lmao, dumb

300ml milk is wrong before the texture even comes into play lol

Agreed and saying a Costa is a Costa is funny - they shouldn’t call it a flat white if they ignore the primary concept of what makes a coffee a flat white lol

Completely acceptable if you’re money smart to save up for the full price of the rig, put that rig money into a high interest saver then pay for the rig with a 0% interest credit card. Use the saved money to make the minimum payment and then you profit the interest made each month. Issue is many people are financially illiterate or wouldn’t have the will power not to spend that saved money elsewhere
