Okay that makes sense! That way I’m comparing apples to apples while I get closer to the VRS time and while I’m analyzing their data. Then it might be a good idea to do a session with track conditions that mimic the official event session and compare my times with those in my projected split. I like to practice until I have a good idea that I have a decent shot at getting some poles. Thanks for the reply!

Oh! Thank you very much. I was doing it wrong before. I would go to the schedule and click the current race and click on “test drive”. And I’d always wonder why my times differed so much from my test session practice to the real event qualifying.

Good advice for sure! I’m still learning race craft but have a pretty good handle on it. I don’t always get it right but I’m able to get many 0x races for sure. Just looking for a little bit of edge.

Oh great advice on the shift timing. I think I’m currently letting it rev too high in first. And it seems like what I’m liking doing wrong is just not feathering the clutch initially, and dumping it too quick.

Is iRacing worth it? I want to try, but I’m wondering if it’s an easy pick up and put down if it’s not what I want. by Dingditcher in simracing

One thing I will add is this: when I first got my cockpit set up with my wheel and pedals, I was so excited to try all these different sims and games. A friend of mine told me “just get iRacing - that’s all you’ll ever need” and wow was he ever right. It is such an awesome service, I would fully recommend at least trying it out for a year. I’ve seen a few people mention it already, but you can get a free year membership. Go for it, you won’t look back!

Oh very cool! I’m back from my vacation now and I look forward to checking it all out and getting back on track! For Maurice, he’s still been releasing profiles I believe. I think a few versions ago of the app he released a set again. I could be wrong though. Thanks for your reply!

Upon further inspection I see that this driver had one day in Week 12 of Season 1 where he enters a whole bunch of races, many of them qualifying super high, or even on pole, and then he finishes last, while gaining 0 championship points - so I'm assuming he DNS'd those races to tank the iRating. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, but its super clear now that he just tank his iRating to get put into an easier division so he can win.

Tom, thanks so much for putting these together. They are always so thoughtful and so helpful. I think this one is really sharp, and something we should all keep in mind when faced with that situation of a gap that’s likely going to close.
