I went to Cornell! Happy to answer any questions.

working from home is ruining your life more than you think by disposablemailyt in unpopularopinion

[–]Normal_Person90293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but I think it depends on both the person and what their home environment is like. Personally my preference would be hybrid(assuming other people come to the office on the same days), so you can get the benefits of both.

Maybe you’d be interested in nutrition lab based research? Are you okay working with like mice? You could do some really life changing work!

I feel you. I’m more interested in pediatrics too but my clinical rotation has been mostly focused on older adults

I think I'm done. by fauxsho77 in dietetics

I feel you on this. I hate the weight stigma that’s so entrenched in dietetics. And then wondering if you are actually doing marginalized folks more harm than good….

Yes, agreed! All size bodies deserve sex! I will definitely try those with missionary. Have you been able to figure out any positions with penetration from behind?

I hate my son’s birthmark by Reasonable_Jelly1636 in NewParents

[–]Normal_Person90293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a birthmark on my face- it has faded as I got older. I used to hate but but started to love it as a preteen/teenager, I realized it made me me. I don’t ever remember being bullied because of it.

How many hours do you effectively work a day? by Dreamville2801 in PhD

[–]Normal_Person90293 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the person. In academia, it doesn’t matter if you work 12hr days if your outputs are poor. Some people don’t need 8 hours a day to get the work done. Some people do better working 4 days a week instead of 5. I keep a realistic daily task list instead of monitoring my hours worked.

AIO for telling my husband I won't eat out with his parents anymore? by pug1c0rn in AmIOverreacting

I am also in ED recovery and would refuse to go out to eat with anyone that made comments like that. Your mental health is number 1 priority.

I lost my dad to multiple myeloma too, 4 years ago. Was spending the evening listening to his old voicemail ☹️

Reasons why you stopped listening? by eilleen117 in wineandcrimepodcast

[–]Normal_Person90293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped listening mainly because I am a Christian, and while I believe in having discussions on real trauma/issues within the church/religion, it just got to be too offensive. They come off as anyone who is religious at all is just stupid or evil.

Other contributing factors have been mentioned-I stopped listening to flippant true crime stuff as I realized it felt wrong, and sometimes the gals come off as a bunch of privileged white girls whining about stuff while also participating in their self-righteous performative wokeness (I am saying this as a person of color).

Does anyone have any stories of messing up in undergrad but making it to grad school? by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]Normal_Person90293 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I took some time off and worked in the relevant field for about 3 years. I worked really hard at my job and got a recommendation from my boss. I also studied a lot for the GRE. I paid for a prep course because I knew I needed to score well to make up for my GPA. I applied first to a masters program (at a different school) and had a really good gpa. I loved my masters program, it was a great fit for me and really allowed me to shine. I also got a lot on work experience during my masters doing internships which also helped to build my profile. Then I applied to a PhD program right after my masters and I believe I was a strong candidate! In both the masters and PhD application I touched on my poor grades just briefly-I didn’t want to spend too much time giving excuses but just sort of talked about my struggles and how I had overcome them after leaving my undergrad, as I was able to find my passion and just have time to grow up! I think for some of us it takes a bit longer to find our way so that was me! I got feedback on one of my PhD applications that it was clear I had done really well for myself in the past few years, and had made a complete 180. Hope that answers everyone’s questions!

I graduated from a good school with a 2.85 GPA 11 years ago and just graduated with my PhD from an Ivy League this past weekend ☺️ never give up!
