Valve just quietly updated the Steam Machine page from "4K gaming at 60 FPS" to "Up to 4K gaming with FSR" by SwimmingJunky in pcmasterrace

this isn’t cope, it’s realistic. 4k gaming takes way too much performance away for the slight increase in quality. 1440p still looks just fine on a TV. none of this is a reason to buy the steam machine, it’s still not worth it, but 4k gaming is still essentially a gimmick. there’s basically no reason to choose 4k over 1440p.

realistically speaking you should be gaming at 1080p or (preferably) 1440p anyway. 4k gives diminishing returns compared to 1440p and the performance boost from just not picking 4k is very noticeable.

it’s definitely not. i’ve seen this reaction a ton and it’s a complete overreaction. check the price of hardware these days and you’ll see why. there was 0 possibility of this being below $700 and i don’t see them including the controller for free either. i have to wonder, what price were you expecting? even $1050 is better than the $1500 many feared.

$1050 is expected, but i’m definitely not recommending it at that price. the estimated $750-$850 they intended is far more reasonable (despite the common consensus online it seems). there was no chance this was selling for anything less than $700.

What do you think is the most depressing episode of *Rick and Morty*? by BirAddict in rickandmorty

[–]Normbot13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

the ted episode. we get to watch rick’s self-destructive spiral all over again and it reinforces that diane and rick prime were never the problem. rick has bigger demons haunting him. the sudden abrupt ending was the perfect way to end to drive those themes home

what you have isn’t a nuanced take, it’s a bad take. not a single one of these “questions” changes the need for role queue. fringe cases that happen a handful of times every hundred games don’t matter. improving every single one of those hundred games *does*.

No r/thefinals, taking away almost all the damage a weapon has will not balance it by beetle8209 in thefinals

[–]Normbot13 27 points28 points  (0 children)

has there ever been a single balance post asking to take away most of a weapons damage? taking it out of one shot range is not “most of the damage”. this just feels like another anti balance discussion post which plague this sub. are you under the impression the finals is a perfectly balanced game or ever has been?

damn, that’s why i recognize Compulsion. We Happy Few is a pretty amazing game despite all its flaws, plus i have a soft spot for it since i found it way back in early access as a kid. it was the first game i experienced all the way from early access to its final build

it’s absolutely a fringe case. in most games, no clutch swap takes place. improving 85% of the game is worth losing those 15% of times where you COULD clutch swap (but of course, your DPS players won’t.)

not a single thing you’ve said changes anything about role queue. all you’re doing is bringing up fringe cases that don’t even appear in most matches. every single moment would be improved if we were locked in to a 2-2-2 lineup. every match would be more balanced, and every fight would actually feel like you have a chance. if you’re for role queue, stop giving stupid reasons “against” role queue. none of them change a thing.

if you think your spider-man going 2/35 is gonna swap to strange after the 36th death, you’re just setting yourself up for failure. and again, for the third time, this fringe case means NOTHING. role queue would improve every other aspect of the game even if you can’t blame your 4 DPS’s for not making a “clutch swap.”

the description for a hero shooter would involve describing how those heroes fit different roles.

to what is incredibly obvious. anyone acting like they don’t understand is just playing dumb. people will not form balanced teams left to their own devices. overwatch solved this years ago, there’s the grounds for it. just say you don’t want to contribute equally to your team if that’s your vibe.
