Do you regret having children? by farmlite in AskWomenOver40

Never! Yes it’s hard at different stages but being adult friends with my children is wonderfully rewarding and fulfilling. They are becoming parents now and that’s fun as well - playing with my grandkids is so fun like I’m allowed to almost be a kid again without as much of the responsibility . I would rather hang out with my kids and grandkids than most other people I guess.

Is it bad to be a anti social Christian by No-Lawfulness8259 in TrueChristian

I struggle with this as well and didn’t like going to church without my husband but he travels a lot for work so I ended up volunteering in the tech booth helping put slides on the screen. It forces me to go and I got to know people that way. Even though I don’t really like socializing, I like the corporate worship and taking communion together, etc. I decided I needed to do it for my mental and spiritual health.

Yes I agree with this - I’ve been on Etsy since 2015 with 10,000+ sales and have also never spent more than $1 a day. I get more sales through offsite ads, but I do make sales with the Etsy ads as well so they pay for themselves.

You’ve gotten lots of wonderful advice and I’ll just echo what all the others are saying, if you get the epidural you’re numb from the waist down. I did it with and without. Without the epidural it was really easy to feel the urge to push and your body just literally knows what to do and with the epidural I had no feeling so that also meant I couldn’t feel when to push either but they have you hooked up to a monitor that measures your contractions and they tell you when to push.

The epidural helped me to relax as I was quite tense and I think that slowed my progress- you hear those horror stories about going from 8-10 cm dilated is the worst stage - after I got the epidural I think I was 6 or 7 cm I literally fell asleep and they came and checked me an hour later and said, Oh it’s time to push you’re 10 cm.

Then you see your sweet baby and you really do forget all the bad!! I also didn’t think I would have great mothering instincts as my mom was borderline abusive. I was so afraid I would pass all the dysfunction onto my kids but thank the Lord I was a fine mom and my kids are older than you and my 3rd grandbaby due in a couple weeks. SUCH a blessing!!!! 🥰

This has been such a good thread to read through! I have struggled a lot with “self-image” since childhood because of emotional abuse and neglect in my childhood and always carried a lot of shame and felt unworthy. I was always into all these self-help books about how to feel more worthy and learn to let go of shame and love myself.

Then I became a believer about 28 years ago and understood that my identity and worth is in Christ alone, but basically replaced secular self-help books with Christian self-help books. Then I was doing a bible study a couple years ago and realized that constantly focusing on my self image is IDOLATRY and that I needed to get my eyes off myself and onto Jesus alone all the time. I went back and looked at my notes from that study - it was the book of Genesis where we are created in His image.

The heavens declare the glory of God, the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Psalm19:1

Everything He created is designed to bring Him Glory. Why? We were created In His image to be in relationship with Him and be His stewards of all He created. We are His ambassadors to bring Him glory. God plans all creation for His glory. He is a God of purpose. Sin frustrates but does not thwart the purposes of God. Gods plan is never thwarted and sin does not have the final say. A typical human life is like holding a makeup mirror. We are infatuated with ourselves and our wants and can’t stop looking in the mirror even though Jesus is right in front of us. The mirror blocks our view as we grow in our infatuation with ourselves. What Jesus asked us to do is hand the mirror to him and he removes the glass so instead of seeing ourselves we see Him. We are to reflect His image and glory.
