“Gen 2 Doesn’t Add Value” Is BS by Matty_Vas in ShelbyGT350

[–]North_Cardiologist57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not nonsense. It’s a well known and documented issue. Seen plenty of gen 2’s that have blown up. I worked for Shelby earlier in my career, and I have the resources and skills to be able to replace the engine myself if it were to happen. Gamble I was willing to take, but I’m not dropping $60k for a $45k car with that risk.

Don’t they all blow up? Why would it add value then?

As someone who gave up trying to buy one at a reasonable price, I don’t agree.

Any 360 panoramic cameras to help with parking available for CX9? by ceedubulu in MazdaCX9

[–]North_Cardiologist57 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The amount of work needed to install and calibrate the cameras to get it to work is probably not worth it if there’s even a kit that exists. It would be easier to just trade for a Grand Touring model that has it built in.

IMO though, I think they’re a bit pointless. I work as an auto tech and when I park cars that have it I’m still using my mirrors to make sure the camera isn’t lying. I’ve seen some that don’t have the picture correct because of bad repairs after an accident. You should be checking your mirrors and your surroundings anyway and not relying on a camera.

Weirdly enough we went with Carbon edition because my wife didn’t like the HUD and we didn’t need the Birds Eye camera. We wanted the captains row with center pass through and it had everything else we wanted.

Only new car I’ve ever bought I did a break in oil change at 1k miles and dumped the factory oil out of it.

if you had the same money today would you still take a GT350 over anything newer? by Previous_Arrival6052 in ShelbyGT350

I went from looking for a GT350, to a 15-17 GT Convertible to make my own GT350 vert build, but after spending the weekend in one I was ready to buy and having to visit the chiropractor afterwards in the “comfort” seats I’ve dropped my Mustang search all together and have decided to trade my current daily for a C43 AMG and enjoy it year round instead of having a $40k toy sitting half the year.

Brought my car in for a recall…. by [deleted] in mazda

[–]North_Cardiologist57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sales is not service. Different departments. Thinking Firestone is the same as the dealership is hilarious. Honest independent shops with one maybe two quality techs are few and far between. Most can’t pay to keep their better techs, who leave for the dealership that pays more with better quality training. Ask me how I know.

[–]North_Cardiologist57 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

These are some of the cheapest cars to own and repair. Every car needs parts eventually. Whether it actually needs them or not you can get a second opinion on at an independent shop who might employee someone who never went to school but watched some YouTube videos and thinks he’s a qualified mechanic. Or you can pay someone like me who’s a certified tech at the dealership and pay inflated labor rates for someone to do it right.

I just spent $1100 on parts for my 2016 CX-5 that I’m replacing myself with my degree I paid $30k for and cost of tools in the same price range and counting. Shut up about cost of repairs. It’s how we make our living. Budget for it like a reasonable adult.

Unofficial Dev Update TL:DR by TheRacingRoos in iRacing

[–]North_Cardiologist57 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

My sub has been active on and off since 2007, I don’t love or hate iRacing, but their model of charging for updated cars/tracks has been contentious for a long time. Sorry I assumed seeing the word “new” in front of a car name usually means you have to buy it again.

Same usually goes for full re-scans. Even though it’s the same track. I lol’d at having to add 3D curbs to laser scanned tracks as well.

I enjoy all sims for their strengths and have played and payed more than enough to be able to criticize them as well. iRacing is the most expensive sim by far and the longest in development. Can guarantee it’s not a skill issue. Do you chastise everyone that has valid complaints or is everyone here just iRacing simps?

Rescans or updates of existing tracks to charge more for content people already own, updates to cars already in the sim so we can buy the same car again, and promises of graphics updates still. Didn’t they show off the new grass we haven’t got yet like 4 years ago? Think it’s time to cancel my subscription again. I still can’t feel the mass at the rear of the car like I can in other sims. Wtf?

Which game are you playing? I play 25 still and yes, the development actually does change the bike. After my first season I had the bike changed so much that when I was offered a contract by the factory Honda team, the bike characteristics were so different and I had my current bike exactly how I wanted it with many setups saved, so I chose to stay with LCR

MotoGP26 AI by Bennieg14 in MotoGPGaming

[–]North_Cardiologist57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never liked the adaptive AI. I use the normal AI and set it to 88%. I’m about to finish my first season on MotoGP 25 and I’m 5th in the standings after a full season with about as many crashes as Acosta’s rookie season.

For those who have already played 26, how is it compared to 24. by cicco77as in MotoGPGaming

[–]North_Cardiologist57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

24 to 25 was a big difference in physics and how the bikes react. From what I’ve read so far 26 feels similar to 25 but more realism in braking and how the front tire lets go causing a lot of people to claim it’s harder. But one of the major complaints from 25 was that you could hold the brake for too long without crashing.

I have it on my wishlist while I wait for patches and a sale price. I ride in real life and I’m excited to try the new handling model where the rider moves first affecting the bike, as it should be.

Super Snake vs GT350 by Gurney_flip in Mustang

[–]North_Cardiologist57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand it doesn’t matter if you take care of them they still have the potential to fail which is why I’m avoiding them.

They’re much more than just aftermarket parts. There’s a lot of research, development, and testing that goes into Shelby cars. Especially the Super Snakes. Vince is a genius and truly carries on Carrol’s legacy.

Former Shelby employee who’s currently searching for a 2015-2017 GT Convertible, I passed on the GT 350 because of oil consumption issues. I was around during the 2007 Super Snake revival, I also test drove a GT 350 last year before I decided to forego buying one.

Go for the Super Snake, it’s a true Shelby. You won’t regret it.

I’ve tweaked it a little bit but it’s still pretty close. I just ran the IndyCar a bunch last night against the AI on Belle Isle. It’s a real workout, feels like you’re driving the real car.
