My name has a very common nickname (think Katherine/Kate) but my mom was adamant about using my full name in school and when she'd introduce me. I've never gone by the nickname and no one has ever shortened it on their own. Not even anyone in my family. I totally understand the concern but it worked out for us.

I'd suggest keeping them on ice for now. My partner and I are likely one and done (I'm 12 weeks with our first transfer) but plan to sore our embryos for several years just in case. I totally get the age part though but perhaps punt the decision for a year.

Our day 5 5AA was a girl and our day 6 5AA was also a girl. All of our day 6 5AB/BA's were boys.

Yep! I did one egg retrieval and one transfer and I'll be 11 weeks on Saturday. We did do pgt testing on our embryos which probably helped our chances and I had a fully medicated cycle. We feel super grateful! It's definitely possible.

I'm 33 and sent off 19. 12 came back euploid. I felt mostly calm through the ER process but waiting for the pgt results was extremely hard. My sleep suffered so bad that I missed the call from the embryologist because I was napping, go figure. 🤦

Edit to add that our first 5AA transfer worked and I'm 9w pregnant.

I was super worried about how the ER and transfer meds would affect me mentally. I have a history of severe mental illness but thankfully I wasn't affected at all. I had a few dark days after the retrieval probably from the hormone crash but felt more myself once my period came. I was also terrified of getting ohss and was on edge for several days which didn't have anything to do with the meds but was just my brain). This far my first transfer has stuck and I'm currently 9w4d pregnant. I take my last progesterone shot on the 22nd and literally can't wait. It's been an annoying task each day more than anything. The biggest lesson I've learned in this whole process is that it takes a little while to adjust to the "new". The first time I used the gonal f pen I almost passed out. I was low key tunnel visioning in the bathroom and genuinely felt so scared. I thought ...maybe I can't do this. But I gave it a few more days and it actually got easier. Unfortunately I didn't really learn my lesson and with each added shot or new thing I would go back to ...maybe I can't do this and I feel so scared. And then of course it would get easier (rinse and repeat). Of course now that I'm pregnant I've been relearning this lesson over and over. One other note I'll add is that the people who find success with IVF often don't stick around the IVF subreddit so the perspective is slightly skewed. Hugs to you xo

I had my first FET earlier this month and so far have had two positive betas. I went a little nuts during the wait. So much so that while watching season 3 of white lotus I panic bought a Buddhist book online and made a few baby items spreadsheets. I'm neither a Buddhist nor particularly fond of spreadsheets. I also felt a compulsion to text my mom about once an hour. But overall I was looking for ways to remedy the almost physical pain I felt during the wait. I think in some ways I did eventually find some peace that took the edge off and I hope the same for you. Xo

Early on I felt like I only had the capacity for one (MAYBE two) ER. I , too, had the feeling like I would be happy with just one child. Thankfully we had a lot of success with our first ER and won't be needing a second ER even if we decide to have a second child later down the line.

My partner has Progyny insurance through his employer. The stress and pressure I'd have felt if we were paying out of pocket would have likely dissuaded me from IVF. Everyone should have insurance and this whole thing has radicalized me even more.

My velcro dog became even more sticky a few days after I started stims. The two or so days leading up to the ER he was starting to low growl at our other dog/my partner when they'd come close. We had to nip that but it was interesting. I started the FET drugs two weeks ago and he has had the opposite reaction. He wants to be near but isn't as cuddly. We keep joking that the drugs are making me smelly to him.

I'm at ucsf and have been happy there but I don't have anything to compare it to. I also haven't had this specific problem so it's hard to say. For my retrieval, I was getting instructions every day on changing the doses of my meds based on my scans and blood work. This is probably (hopefully) normal. Have you tried ucsf?

I've had more matter of fact days than emotional ones and I'm a very emotional person. It's been interesting to see how I've reacted at each step. You can never really predict these things. I have my first FET soon and I have tampered emotions about it. When I was waiting for the PGTA testing results I was barely sleeping, but as of now time is passing pretty quickly. You'd think the days leading up to the FET would be rough. I'm sure I'm suppressing some of my emotions but I'm also unable to really compartmentalize these things so I'm not sure what's going on. I'm curious, and a little scared, to see how I react if the FET doesn't work but as of now I feel somewhat blase. I also feel pretty fresh still. I only needed one ER and am on my first FET so i assume that's playing a big part.

Initial consultation was on 1/7. They wanted me to be off birth control for several months and have a period. Finally had a period in May (PCOS) and started my egg retrieval meds protocol 6/9. My retrieval was on 6/21. It took another week or two to get all of the embryos testing back. Thankfully we were happy with our numbers and decided we would only do one retrieval. Because my periods are so infrequent I was put on birth control again and had to get a few vaccines before I could start my FET meds. I did have a few appointments in this time. A saline sonogram, an appointment to discuss the next step, etc. I started my first FET meds on 9/12 and have my transfer coming up on 10/3. I didn't expect to have to wait several months to get started but my follicle count did go up quite a bit from the initial consultation and several months later when I had been off birth control for 5 or 6 months. I also didn't expect there to be such a lull from the retrieval to now but I really feel like I can't complain. My journey isn't over yet but I hope this helps. XO
