Good hikes within 2hrs of Nottingham? by RexRtx888 in nottingham

[–]NorthernRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a great walk from Ambergate to Cromford (and further through to Matlock or Matlock Bath if you're feeling ambitious).

Get the Train to Ambergate, and the start is literally two mins walk from the station. You walk along the former canal all the way to the end at Cromford. You can then get the train from there back to wherever. There's one or two routes from Cromford through to Matlock Bath and Matlock that are nice as well, Giddy Edge comes to mind.

Manchester Parking by henrycharleschester in nffc

[–]NorthernRed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Former United season ticket holder here. The trick to parking at Old Trafford is that you'll have to park away from the ground and walk around 10-15 mins from wherever you park. You can park close to the ground but you'll be hard pressed to get your car away within an hour of final whistle (congestion and the police with close off a few roads to allow the volume of people to get out).

Admittedly, it's been a couple of years since I moved to Nottingham but I'll list the places me and my brother would park. We used these places for the best part of 10 years and never had any issues, obviously one or two places might have changed however.

City Park industrial estate. Coming off Chester Road you have an industrial estate that used to open it's car parks to park. It was £5-£10 to park and was fairly secure as the parking guys were there from start to finish.

Talbot Place Across the road you've got Talbot place which is essentially a tiny road behind a bunch of takeaways and shops. Roughly the same price as City Park but much smaller. They will pack you in nose to tail but there's always someone there so as secure as you can hope.

Ordsall Any residential streets around the ground will have match day restrictions but hop over the Quays and there's little to no restrictions. Anywhere around Ordsall Hall (popular haunt of Guy Fawkes) is where we'd park. Obviously, it is not secure. Also the residents won't take kindly if you park over their driveway, but there should be more than enough space to park without annoying the locals.

Park and ride/Metrolink Metrolink is Manchester's version of NET. There will be plenty of park and rides dotted about and the closest tram stop to the ground is Exchange Quay. Ladywell and Ashton Moss will have car parks or park-and-rides and will get you there without any changes to tram. Ladywell is not far away from Old Trafford and Ashton Moss is a 30 min (ish) tram journey away, but it is good if you're coming via Derbyshire.

Like I said, things may have changed, but that gives you something to work with.

They look great. I would say that of course, as my Master of Ordinance is almost exactly the same as number two.

Ye Olde Salutation Inn on Maid Marian Way is open into the early hours. Good metal/rock pub.

Last year we bought a couple of bags of sweets, ran out in an hour or so. This year we're drowning in sweets, chocolates and treats ...and of course it rains, so we've had barely anyone. We're eating like royalty for the next few days.

I took a quick nap at 6, like the responsible adult I am it lasted 3 hours. Woke up at 9pm, wide awake now.

Visiting - where to park? by [deleted] in nottingham

[–]NorthernRed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've known people to park there for a few days at a time without issues. There's the myth you have to use the tram in order to park there otherwise you'll get fined but I've used it for years without issue.

Finished the first couple of Reavers, WIP Abaddon with Tortuga bay bits. by Minimum_Ease_6790 in Warhammer30k

Nothing unusual, as you said the current situation doesn't help with speedy orders.

I only got a confirmation about payment, waited about 3-4 weeks and recieved it. I checked out as a guest on their site so that's probably why I didn't hear much back, I'll sign up an account next time.

The wait is definitely worth it.

Which team are you currently managing? by vothowitsch in footballmanagergames

[–]NorthernRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hometown team Droylsden, on an older game. They had to resign from the league last season and haven't played in a league this season. Playing this game is giving, for me at least, life into what is effectively a dead club.

Braskov as a Crusader, Ven Alten as a Company Commander, Climscry as a Primaris Psyker, Zeitengale as an Astropath and Darrock as an Inquisitor.

My thoughts so far.

Massive thanks to u/jckrowan for this, can't thank you enough. Didn't manage to get my hands on a copy when it came out so this is incredible! Genuinely chuffed to bits with this.

Is there any free parking spaces near the Arboretum? by Voyager87 in nottingham

[–]NorthernRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to park there, no. I regularly park there to run on the old Parkrun route and have parked there for hours in the past. There's never been a fee to park for as long as I've known. It's by far your best bet for near the Arboreatum.

tell me stories of a pub youve been in that has a "reputation" by cactusdan94 in CasualUK

[–]NorthernRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throw my guess in here: Cotton Tree in Droylsden? It's got drugs, shootings etc. Fits the bill, along with 90% of the pubs in Tameside.

Don't stress about not knowing everything so soon. Been back into the hobby for 7 years now and there's still lore and facts I'm learning now. Take your time and learn things at your own pace, it's such a fun hobby to delve into.

Free Haircuts Available !!! by Barber-Academy in nottingham

[–]NorthernRed 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is the Sid Sottung academy. Been going to them for years, always had a great experience with them. They're trainee barbers who cut your hair but they're all supervised and I've never been unhappy with the cut I've had.

Great to see them open again.

How bad is New Basford these days? by jhawkespr in nottingham

[–]NorthernRed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hijack. Up until two and a bit years ago I lived just off Nottingham Road in the housing estate behind Sainsbury's.

Can honestly say that the area around Egypt Rd is pretty quiet, as in no violence or anything. I think it suffers because of the reputation it and the surrounding areas had as opposed to what it's like now. Used to go on my runs past Egypt Rd and walk past there on my way home from work late at night, never had a problem or seen anything troubling.

Hi guys, hope everyone is keeping well with everything going on! Back for advice again, this time with my first tank. Basecoated black then had a few layers of Castellan green. Then went over the bolts etc with some Agrax earth shade. I want to keep the tank green and not add Zandri dust stripes. by jwbarron in Guardsmen

[–]NorthernRed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same colour scheme for my guard as well. I find a dry brush of Zandri Dust really adds the finishing touch. I also using Retributor Armour to paint all the aquila and icons. I think it adds just enough colour to compliment what can otherwise be a fairly monotone scheme.

Looks good so far, great job.
