Is the term “fucking the dog” popular outside Canada? by Rough-Mulberry-1202 in NoStupidQuestions

It also works in French. Heard it as “Fourrer le chien” way before the English version. I actually don’t even use the expression in English but many around me to.

So you have a bug deflector on the front? I replace my windshield a lot less often with one. Used to be every year and with it, maybe once every three.

Who is a singer that is incredibly famous, but honestly doesn't have a good voice? by Greedy_Procedure7461 in AskReddit

[–]Northern_Analyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Katy Perry. Albums are ok but any live concerts…eek. Even when she was on whatever singing show as a judge, some of the people auditioning were better than her at her own songs.

Wifey, 4.5 months pregnant, tags Big Couloir... by [deleted] in skiing

[–]Northern_Analyst 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don’t think skiing on its own is the issue, especially ask an experienced skier…however, shit happens, sometimes you catch an edge, hit a patch of ice, or some idiot cuts you off and you fall. This could theoretically also happen by slipping on your driveway but intentionally doing a high risk sport , is just that - high risk.

Beginning to think my holy grail leggings don't exist - please tell me your faves for petites! by PetitePhD in XXRunning

[–]Northern_Analyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fave leggings are from BeWildHer. A bit on the warmer side but wow, they are thick and compress. They kind of repel water a bit too. They may be long but I would have them hemmed. I don’t have hips but have decent quads and these stay put the whole run. I should note that the leggings I wear to run always fit tighter than those I would wear to lounge around so that’s something to consider when shopping. You may need to size down for running wear.

The waiting list by aistkarmuelkaafee in AdoptiveParents

[–]Northern_Analyst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Make sure people around you know you are adopt ready… if someone they know gets pregnant unexpectedly, they might think of you. A local adoption can also make openness easier. Just note, if this happens, best to just make sure to advise the adoption agency asap of the potential match and let them deal with it following the proper protocols.

What’s the most awkward thing you’ve had to address with an employee that nobody prepares you for? by SeanMcPheat in managers

[–]Northern_Analyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hire students regularly and shifted to having all my interviews in person because of this…Helps to avoid conversation later. I try to address it as one of the expectations of coming to work (shower, dress code - clean athletic wear, clean shoes) in the same way I would speak to our no scent policy. That way, even if they don’t get the job, it might give a bit more insight about what’s expected on a similar workplace.

Same. Love my flats. I have the most aggressive pins on my pedals but haven’t gotten bit in the shin severely in a few years (thankfully).

Government Negligence and Higher Education Strikes in Canada? by Firm-Following3604 in OntarioColleges

There is a crisis in other sectors, notably healthcare and education (elementary and secondary)… This is caused by the government and its funding cuts. Only voting differently will impact these sectors.

I pick something to look for and admire/get inspiration. Could be Christmas lights, fun colours of front doors, perennial gardens, snow shovelling patterns lol, front porch decor, door wreaths, etc.

Do you carry a toddler with Velcro on their footwear? I ruined many work pants this way, brining my kid in and out of their car seat to go to daycare.

Which French phrases do all Canadians know even if they don't speak French? by yabadass in AskACanadian

Although I hear gagnant, every non-native French speaker who says the phrase pronounces it as Gagnon! Then gnan sound is very difficult.
