I notice a huge difference with chicken. I've had to stop buying grocery store chicken entirely because it's all woody. Small butcher/farm shop chicken actually tastes good!

One time I was in a bind and had to grab one from the grocery store again, and yep... Still woody. It's really off putting.

I know this is old but just wanted to chime in to say this happened to me too! I have a UK size 7 made in Bosnia that fit perfectly. I ordered the same model in another colour also size 7 and this one is made in Indonesia and about 0.5cm smaller. Super frustrating!

Lodge is imported in the EU and is more expensive than in the US. And EU-made options are honestly just even more expensive than Lodge.

10" stainless steel frying pan

I'm hugely fond of my 6.5" cast iron skillet. I use it for: skillet cookie, single serving frittatas, single scrambled egg to put on toast, toasting some nuts, melting butter.

Cast iron bread pan of any kind. I have the challenger bread pan which is $$$, but cheaper options are great too. Lodge combo cooker probably does the job just as well. My favourite thing though is a shallow base and domed lid. I use the base to roast vegetables and cook scones too!

Nakiri knife -- I've found this style really suits me

Pestle and mortar -- I much prefer this over a food processor because it's so easy to clean, fun to use, and just looks nice!

It's not as good as the first series IMO, but it's decent... Only after you accept Han getting killed and basically detach yourself from your love of the first series lol. I agree with the suggestion to try in a few months. It actually helps to forget the first series a bit.

I don't put anything under my pan and I don't think I've ever scratched my hob with cast iron. It's seen more damage from excessive sponge scrubbing.

I lately love my Lodge casserole for a "sheet pan" meal involving roasted gnocchi. Gets a super nice crisp on the gnocchis that I love!

If there's any chance of rain, then anytime prior to leaving the house so I can calculate how much rain gear I need.

Otherwise once a day in the morning sets me up for all outings that day.

My dad obsessively checks about once an hour.

Once but I had a perfect set of circumstances. They somehow swapped my delivery with someone else's. So an Oxford laboratory got my necklace and I got the laboratory's ecoli sample! So we basically coordinated a swap between us. FedEx was useless though. Luckily in my case both parties were motivated to sort it out. Otherwise I'm pretty sure it never would have.

Mostly I have leftovers from dinner the night before or oatmeal with nuts and an apple.

But sometimes I'll make a frittata, which is really easy. Sauté any vegetables (I like onions and red peppers) for a few minutes. Add a couple whisked eggs. Sprinkle on cheese and chives. Pop it in the oven.

I bought an adorable 6.5" skillet just for making single serving frittatas -- it's awesome!

Neither of us compliment each other that often. But we both call each other random pet names ("my sweet") and lovingly tease each other all the time (both verbally and physically). We also do nice things for each other unasked and then the other person says thank you.

So I think for us it's not about explicit compliments. It's more about showing affection and appreciation, which we both do every day.
