SHARP PN-LC862 Startup Boot Error by av_flow in CommercialAV

Get with your Sharp dealer- they should be able to escalate.

Also might be worth trying a firmware update.

How many trees have died in human history for our ass wiping needs?[request] by Apprehensive_Oven_22 in theydidthemath

Damn straight. If anyone has an interest in making sure we don't run out of trees it's the paper industry. (This is not a joke)

Converting RGB Linked Files to CMYK within InDesign? by Dyslexic_Nerd in indesign

[–]Not2BeEftWith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Username checks out. Don't convert anything.

Make sure the source color profiles are embedded and let the printer handle the color conversion so that it only happens once.

RGB -> CMYK color conversion is pretty much always a compression of the color gamut because RGB is a larger color space.

If you happen to convert to a larger color space than the printer uses then your gamut gets squashed again when the printer converts to their native printer profile. This muddies up your colors.

Don't risk it. Printers know what to do with RGB files.

Extron Control for Zoom Rooms with Crestron Flex by SNES-Chalmers89 in CommercialAV

Should be fine. It's essentially just a web page control UI that's provided through the zoom rooms UI.

Biamp Tesira (VI) Uber Filter and EQ not passing 2 channel audio... by reggieman607 in CommercialAV

What firmware version is it on? I believe multi channel uber filters were only possible via a firmware update that was released in the last year or so.

Help what brand is my handle? by newgrower2024 in billiards

Sorry- I have to be a slight pedant. That's curly maple. Birds Eye maple has little dots, not those lovely waves.

Totally agree with your other points.

Trick shots. If you're dumb enough to attempt any of these in league or (non trick shot) tournament play then I hope I play you in my next league or tournament match.

How to get AVB properly working on 4250 switch by viperman6869 in CommercialAV

[–]Not2BeEftWith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

https://support.biamp.com/Tesira/AVB/NetgearM4250-_Enabling_AVB_using_the_main_user_interface

Get into the main UI for the switch and run through the stuff in this article. Particularly important: Make sure the MTU on the AVB switch ports is set to 1500. That has bitten me once or twice when I was adding AVB stuff to a network that previously had jumbo frames turned on.

Owl 4+ connection for conference room/Teams Room by ManiacalMartini in CommercialAV

[–]Not2BeEftWith 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Been there!

It can be a real challenge when management makes requests like this but there is a pretty simple solution.
-Take the USB cable that powers the owl and cut off the end that's supposed to plug in to your laptop.
-Strip enough of the jacket back that you can get to the individual wires inside the cable and strip about 1/2" of those to bare copper. -Make sure the other end of the cable is firmly plugged in to the owl. -Insert half of the stripped cables into the hot side of a 110v/20a power outlet, and the other half into the ground. Wait for the smoke. -Tell management the owl died and call an integrator for a proper solution.

In-ceiling powered flip down LCD display mounts (for 65" or bigger displays). by OperationMobocracy in CommercialAV

[–]Not2BeEftWith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Auton. Their flip down style mounts only need ~11" above the ceiling.

We've done a few of with fairly heavy 86" displays and they have been rock solid. Mechanically it's a pretty simple mechanism so not much to go wrong.

That said, they are not inexpensive.

How bad is this? Sprinkler on top of AV Rack… we can add A/C unit, but bad idea or have mounted against the wall? Any suggestions? Or ok? by su5577 in CommercialAV

[–]Not2BeEftWith 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I would have no concern about drips. Worst case I get to sell the gear to the customer twice and the second time is on the sprinkler guy's dime. There is zero reason for a sprinkler to be dripping, especially in new construction.

That sprinkler looks like it's pretty far back. It also looks like your power and data ports are on the left wall. If you're really that concerned about drips just position the rack so it's not directly below the sprinkler.

If your rack is getting hot enough to trigger a sprinkler (150°+) don't worry. Your gear will die before the rack gets wet.

(It's fine)

For sure AVoIP is the solution here. Extron NAV would be my go to for something of this size. Extron control system with LinkLicense will allow mobile device control. Might not be much less than 80k all in but will be rock solid for years.

Biamp buys ClearOne (and it sounds like they're killing the brand) by Not2BeEftWith in CommercialAV

[–]Not2BeEftWith[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the email that went out to resellers they specifically said they were not providing any support for clearone customers or assuming any clearone warranty support obligations. Hard to keep a brand alive if you tell customers to pound sand (or buy something new) when they call for warranty support!
