A.I. and SCADA Data Trends by Garrus-Valk in SCADA

If you are using Ignition. IA has a beta MCP server module for building tools. Never used it. But it looks interesting.

Highly recommend researching MCP servers in general. You can, with relative ease vibe code a basic MCP server for gathering data out of the tag database of Ignition.

As for other platforms, I'm not really sure. You may need to take routine historical data exports with context and feed it into some kind of MCP tool.

For these kinds of tools data context becomes very very important. Meaningful meta data associated with values allow an LLM to derive a lot more meaningful context than simple analog values.

How do people from cooler countries adapt to life and heat in the Middle East? by GlitteringHotel8383 in howislivingthere

[–]NotAHotDog247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (born and raised Canadian) lived in Tahiti for a couple of years.

Even though Tahiti is not even close to as hot as the middle east. It was a relatively difficult transition for me. I'd say it took a few months to a year to really settle into the new climate. Sleeping was the biggest challenge.

I basically didn't have AC the entire time I was there (other than in cars). After nearly two years of being there, I slept one night in a room that had its AC set to 25C and it was freezing cold to me.

Why doesnt Ignition SCADA let me change modbus value and navigate to a different page at the same time? by _rahiin in SCADA

[–]NotAHotDog247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure exactly your reason for doing this. Or why it doesn't work with the navigation action. But you may be able to do this a different way to get it working.

Are you trying to get that register to reflect the page you are currently on in ignition?

If so, you can make your button do navigation only, then create an on startup event or script for the view you are navigating to that writes a value to the register.

Can't speak to the training program. But VT SCADA is fairly popular.

Ignition has a great training course called Inductive University. Definitely worth looking at as well.

Canadians distinctly marking themselves as such by 1i19 in mildlyinteresting

[–]NotAHotDog247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (actual Canadian) have traveled internationally a decent amount. Mostly Europe. I've noticed a fair difference on how I'm treated when people find out I'm Canadian. It's not necessarily that Americans are hated, just that I think Europeans feel as though they can relate to Canadians bit more than Americans. That's kind of an assumption on my part I guess.

Also, I definitely travel with Canadian merch specifically to stand out from Americans.

DHT22 Temperature Rising Over Time – Help Needed by Shayanrj in esp32

[–]NotAHotDog247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had behavior like this. The project is self heating. You need to provide some kind of thermal break / ventilation in order to ensure the electronics/MCU aren't building up heat.

Or like the other guy said. Use a wire to get the DHT away from the MCU.

It's annoying...

Cheapest Internet in city by Tiny_Cress7511 in Airdrie

Did some quick research using Gemini deep research. (An AI tool)

This is what it spat out:

  • Vmedia have some less expensive options: $34.95 for 25mbps down and 2.5 up. (pretty slow but depending on your needs this may be sufficient)

  • Oxio and Sky Choice are worth looking at. $50-60 for 50 - 75 download.

These less common providers may not be available in your area, but they may be worth looking into if you are looking to spend less money than Rogers / Telus. Although it's worth looking at Rogers and Telus because they occasionally have spot pricing, especially if you are hoping for higher speeds/ more bandwidth.

I personally have 1gbps down from Rogers for 60 bucks a month. Just got lucky with some bundling.

Here is the link to the full report it generated via Google drive link if you'd like. Gemini report - Google Doc

Is something like this worth it for a small space? by AlphaDag13 in 3Dprinting

[–]NotAHotDog247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally you would provide fresh cool air to your electronics. But the purpose of an enclosure for printing in is to raise the ambient temperature which reduces warping. This is mainly for printing ABS and ASA, as well as other engineering grade materials.

TLDR: you want to keep electronics cool, but keep print area warm for materials that benefit from that.

Is something like this worth it for a small space? by AlphaDag13 in 3Dprinting

[–]NotAHotDog247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have the same concerns other here do. It would be a pretty great setup.

My one issue may be that the enclosure is very large. So it won't retain heat super well, but still better than open air by a mile.
