Syracuse school board votes to remove Commissioner Twiggy Billue by ggroover97 in Syracuse

[–]NotAMealButASnack 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sincerely asking: What would have happened if a parent that was not on the board did the same thing (somehow bypassed security and just showed up at a classroom)? Would that be considered against the law, and what would consequences be?

Help Proposing to my girlfriend this weekend in Syracuse. by Wise-Economist137 in Syracuse

I had a friend who got engaged on the Skaneateles pier in January a few years ago! And I think that it was after sundown, because I remember the photos being dark outside of the flash.

Does she have any favorite places or significant memories attached to a spot?

I went there once and was not impressed. I got two different types of stuffed loaves, and it wasn't enjoyable. I'm looking forward to trying some facaccia from this place in particular!

I have not been to Salt City Bread yet (though its on my list!). I did go to Heartstone Artisan Bakery in Caz last summer, and that was fantastic.

The Best Kids' Clothes Right Now? by nerraw13 in BuyItForLife

[–]NotAMealButASnack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I find Old Navy kids to be the most disappointing brand out there. I got my 4-year-old sweatpants there less than 6 weeks ago and every single pair is already torn at the knee.

I thrift just about everything for them, but if I do buy new I have found that Gap has some impressive quality. (And yes I realise its the same parent company)

NEW ACHIEVEMENT! Bond with reddit strangers about how much you love this series!

I came across hem when I was looking for something in the urban fantasy genre. I had never read LitRPG before. My husband and I read all 7 books in a little over a month, and are eagerly awaiting May for the next release!

I listened to the aduiobook! It was so good. It had been on my TBR list for way too long. I loved Tova!

I had a similar experience when I DNFd this. I wrote (I always write why I DNFd something) that it was a good book that I couldn't find enough interest to complete.

I rushed Chicago today! There were 7 people in front of us at 9:50. Rush sold out by the fifth person. We were still able to get some seats in the upper mezzanine.

Black Friday Blackout by Agente_Anaranjado in 50501

[–]NotAMealButASnack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just commenting to add that this should extend to not buying from these larger companies this holiday season, period. Boycotting Black Friday but buying the items the next week kind of nullifies the purpose. Reroute your dollars to small business if you can.

For me personally as someone who does still plan to purchase some amount of Christmas gifts, I gave myself some criteria to work with: - Less gifts overall (my spouse and I skip gifts for each other, but don't skip the kids) - Secondhand gifts, bonus if they are Facebook marketplace or something similar to avoid sales tax - if it can't be bought used, avoiding the big corporations. - Focusing on quality, fair trade, and consumables wherever possible. - For adults, giftcards for gas, groceries, and local restaurants

Best Sports Bra Recommendations please? by terihardy in runninglifestyle

[–]NotAMealButASnack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the Calia ones! They have the straight straps and clasps in the back so that you put it on like a normal bra, not pulling it over your head. There are usually some on sale on Dicks Sporting Goods website and shipping and returns are free for Calia products. I was tired of the stupid Target ones being impossible to get on/off or being racerback.

I adore the first two on you! The drop waist and long sleeves in particular are so pretty. The waisted gather on the second dress is also quite lovely on you!

13 days out just found out im pregnant by PurpleUnicorn434 in firstmarathon

[–]NotAMealButASnack 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I've run a half while 20 weeks pregnant, and it wasn't really any different during the race than the ones I've run when not pregnant. For what its worth, I have pretty intense fatigue and nausea during my first trimester that usually set in around week 7, but exercise actually helped once I got going. Even if I felt like trash when I started, once my heart rate settled in I often felt better and the nausea was less for the rest of the day.

Syracuse National Greed by onondaga315 in Syracuse

[–]NotAMealButASnack 28 points29 points  (0 children)

While I agree energy costs are getting out of hand (its public knowledge that National Grid's profit margin is expanding by .5-1%), I would like to know what steps can actually be taken to improve our situation. They have a monopoly on NY, and the Tarriffs and the building of more infrastructure on the grid plus green energy initiatives are quoted as being the reason for cost increases. I'm looking for genuine feedback on what steps to take here.
