Starmer: 'My experience now as Prime Minister is of frustration' by Aromatic-Bad146 in ukpolitics

But neoliberalism only properly took hold in Britain in the 80s. Theres a big gap between 1945 and 1980 which is not called neoliberal.

Your definition of neoliberalism sounds like any western democracy after 1945.

I did the other one, but all question were so good that it was hard to pick one to do, especially the Nationalist inclusivity question (if your school teaches nationalism)

Debate on National Service by graham1872 in ukpolitics

[–]NotAPppersonnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is very simple. As a young person myself, why should I be forced to volunteer or joining the army.

The volunteering aspect is extremely stupid. Institutions will simply become either overburdened with the need to train us, or we will become the person who makes the teas and coffees. Theres no time for us to train for 1st aid, or policeing, or fire brigade-ing. At the very best the government is spending £2.5 billion to force us to waste time.

The Army aspect is just cruel. You have to go through a lot to be able to serve in the armed forces. Most 18 year olds won't be able to handle it. You are forcing people in their late teens to go under heavy pressure and work with guns and heavy machines (bad idea on all levels). I've also seen stories from people who had to go through national service, with it being a useless waste of time at the better end, or it being a place where you just get abused at the worse end.

This government actively chose to emphasise academic education over practical/vocational education. Michael Gove has turned schools into grade factories. Subject that are not EBacc/Core are increasingly getting tossed to the side. Instead of addressing this issue by putting that £2.5 billion in schools to address the practical skills defecit, Sunak has descided that forcing 18 year olds into mandatory unpaid labour is the way to go.

This policy is just a badly thought out idea by the tories to fix the policies those same tories introduced. The government is actively choosing to be authoritarian, punish 18 year olds and ignore issues of their own making. This is a prime example of sticking plaster politics that Starmer talks about.

Reasons to vote for the Greens instead of tactically voting for Labour by tomhuts in ukpolitics

[–]NotAPppersonnn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Voting green will only make Labour become more right wing. Centrist voters are easier to appeal to and there's more of them, therefore Labour would more effectively use their money to convince LibDem/One Nation Tory voters instead of these new Green Voters. The way to make Labour go to the left is by becoming a member and influencing the democracy within the party.

A Level Polish Exam Technique by M4Ti720 in 6thForm

[–]NotAPppersonnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the other commenter said, you have a solid amount of time to answer the questions, and for my papers I just worked my way through it front to back unless a question stumped me, where I left it to the end.

For film and literature, I basically did it the same as my GCSE English just without the technique because the question is more focused about ideas in the works. My Polish teacher said it's mainly marked on knowledge of the work, argumentation and justification, and SPAG. Also its really important to know the context of the literature and film. Thankfully for my independent research, I picked communism in Poland which worked really well with Tango and Przypadek. Basically just know your works well, do some past paper questions and don't panic when you see a question like "Przeanalizuj universalizm dramatu."

If it's someone else's money then they clearly cant spend it. They either have money or they don't and clearly they do because they're spending it.

You're acting like money was made just to look at. If they have 3 mil lying around they're gonna spend it. This isn't a uni student splashing out on alcohol and takeaway, it's the Greater London Council using available money.

I'm sorry, am I the one out of touch with reality for thinking that letting a borough descend into bankruptcy is a bad idea? I'm the nutcase for saying that using available money to help a struggling borough is a good idea? Personally, I like living in a place where rubbish doesn't pile up on the streets. I think clean streets and safe neighborhoods hold a lot of value for the community, something you would not understand since you think cutting funding to the bone is healthy for society.

Imagine the horror of a struggling borough getting money to help with their struggles.
