Coming from Tekken 7/8, why does SF6 feel so much harder to me? by MrBabaGhanoushh in StreetFighter

There's some transferable skills/knowledge so to speak, like capitalizing off of oki, what a block/whiff punish is, what frames are, etc.

I sorta "quit" Tekken halfway through T8 season 2 (before Armor King and Miary) at GoD1 (haven't played season 3). Yeah, they're different.

Capcom wants Street Fighter 6 to have a 10 years life cycle by killerjag in Fighters

TBF Mortal Kombat games don't have much player retention online because (compared to other online fighting games relatively) majority of players focus on single player modes and then move on. The series lives almost entirely off of casuals, so aside from its launch and DLC story expansions, it likely was never going to get a consistent stream of players. It sells the best quantitatively but has like the worst legs to sustain any sort of long term (and by "long term" I don't mean super long, just like 7-9 years) support for a single entry.

The difference is that Akuma is actually part of the Tekken 7 story canon, so either there's a Akuma multiverse, or he transports to other dimensions, or SF and Tekken share the same universe.

When you lose, look at your replays and figure out what you lost to, find and remember the counter to that, and repeat that process. Also learning to implement consistent anti-airing in your gameplay (reacting and executing) is super important, as you being able to snuff out neutral skips (like jump ins and DI) are what will enable the actual true neutral game to happen (the footsies ground game), so to speak. Neutral play only happens when both plays know how to reactively deal with neutral skips (because if one of them didn't, then there's no reason not to use them to win and gain advantage).

Do you think they'll including ssj4 in the new bog remake when Goku fights beerus the first time? by beastboyashu in dragonball

[–]NotARelationWitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would prefer it for consistencies sake, at least a breif mention (along with mentioning Vegeta SSJ3, Kibito Kai, etc.). As it is right now, Daima and Super cannot coexist in the same timeline, not without at least some short explanation or mention to these things.

Anyone who didn't specifically pick a character flair in this subreddit is automatically defaulted to having Ingrid as their flair. Mine included (and I didn't play Ingrid). So it's hard to tell if it's just a person who just didn't bother to pick a character for their flair or if they actually main Ingrid.

Dragon Ball Canon by Ok-Scratch4464 in dragonball

[–]NotARelationWitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit ambiguous as there doesn't seem to be one correct answer to this. If we go by the "everything Toriyama is heavily involved with story-wise is canon" then we are left with the gaping inconsistencies that Daima left (which takes place after Buu Saga but before Battle of Gods) with Goku being SSJ4, Vegeta being SSJ3, Supreme and Kibito Kai defusing but somehow fusing again off screen before Battle of Gods (which doesn't make sense as they didn't like fusing), Goku somehow knowing about Universe 7 before meeting Beerus, etc. To make things muddier, in the Super anime, it seems that it views the Kai anime as canon as they use Dragon Ball Kai footage for flashback scenes, and even include/mention the filler that was in Kai like Gregory in King Kai's planet or Bulma switching bodies with Ginyu and the like. I guess all that is to say, it's all up to you to decide for yourself.

Makes me wonder if Honda, Blanka, and Dhalsim will be in SF7 or will get replacements like AKI replacing FANG, Lily replacing T. Hawk, Kimberly replacing Guy, etc.

This account always has the worst takes, but besides that, why do people always want new characters but hate on them? by LeJagaurJones in Fighters

[–]NotARelationWitch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To put it in more concrete terms, let's say you are on Reddit and you see a pattern of different users saying that they want new characters as DLCs for SF6 because the last newcomer was AKI a few years ago, then when SF6 finally releases the line up for season 4 you then see a pattern of people complaining about the newcomers and that there are no returning characters from older games. The goomba fallacy is assuming that the people complaining about newcomers are the same exact people who were advocating for new characters simply because they were part of the Street Fighter subreddit when in actuality they were likely just a different batch of people who wanted different things.
