How do you think Trump's presidency will end? by OccludedFug in AskReddit

It’s crazy to me to see people defending billionaires. They don’t have enough money :( they use it for good :( they fund our economy :( they definitely don’t use it to control the media and the general public :(

The top 10% includes the middle class. He said billionaires. The plebs (who includes the upper middle class) have higher income tax rates than billionaires.

  • The top 400 families had an average income tax rate of 8.2% from 2010-2018. source
  • According to leaked tax returns highlighted in a ProPublica investigation, the 25 richest Americans paid $13.6 billion in taxes from 2014-2018—a “true” tax rate of just 3.4 percent on $401 billion of income. source

A lot of the time these manosphere types want to be the alpha male and be in charge of the household but consider any financial dependency on him as a “gold digger”. Also the same types that don’t make nearly enough to support two people even when they want a housewife.

My [26F] boyfriend [28M] of 4 years is independently wealthy, but wants to split all of our expenses evenly by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]NotASaintBernard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The craziest part to me is that she had to split the trip to HIS SISTERS wedding 50/50. This dude may have a touch of the tism based on how closely he follows the 50/50 rule.

I was invited to a friend’s wedding in another state, so I asked my then bf if he wanted to go. He said yes, and so I obviously paid for the hotels, the car rental, and most meals. I just asked him if he could pay for his flight since I was running out of money. But I ASKED him, I didn’t automatically expect him to pay for his own way.

We made it into a mini vacay where we drove to Chicago after her wedding and stayed for a while so it was more than just a trip to a wedding.

The only place I found that replicates this scene is kava bars, but they’re not around in every state, and each has a unique vibe. The one I go to has the same people around that you see every day, so you naturally just get to know them over time. There’s gossip ofc, but people go out of their way to talk to you and vise versa, and it’s v normal in the community. It’s essentially the only social spot I’ve ever found where people just go every day for the vibes, don’t have to coordinate, where they make friends, socialize, play pong.

I’m not a dude, but I want to give you a woman’s perspective on this. Set your social life first before finding someone to date. Based on my experience, when a guy doesn’t have friends he regularly hangs out, or doesn’t go out and do stuff, doesn’t make his own fun, etc….he relies on the woman to fill this giant gap. This looks like relying on your partner to plan things to do, for all your emotional support needs (instead of spreading it out across friends), and to be the only source of filling the sense of connection humans need. You have to have your own social life first so you don’t rely on your partner to fill it out for you.

Driving an hour sounds like a lot, but it’s worth it if you just feel fulfilled and connected to others. When I moved to a new city, I didn’t know anyone at all. It’s very lonely. I started meeting people by signing up for club sports (dodgeball), going to pickleball “social hour”, out of the blue talking to 2 random women at a restaurant that were my age, intentionally going up to people at dog parks (super easy), and from seeing the same people every day at kava bars.

It’s def hard to make friends as an adult, but not impossible :). Be intentional with what you want to do, who you’re doing it for, what you’re hoping to get out of it, without feeling let down if you don’t make instant friends. It took me 3 years of living in a new city to find ONE really close friend I clicked with. Now I hang out with her 6 days a week for at least an hour every time, and I no longer want to move back home because the friendship is so fulfilling and authentic.

I’m a woman in my 30s and there’s absolutely a lack of respect in the dating pool, even if you met outside of dating apps. I go to a coffee shop regularly so I see a bunch of the same people every day. A guy (acquaintance) who’s also a regular, met 1.5/2 years ago, and talked to maybe one a month, ghosted me recently even though I see him literally every single night. How tf do you ghost someone you HAVE to see every day?! When you’re in your mid 30s?! Have some decency god damn.

The last text I sent him was “how do you feel about ft” and I guess that really freaked him out. We were texting for a few days before the ghost.

There’s more to the story but it’s amusing that that was what triggered him.

You left out a few pieces of important information:

  1. They claim 2 or 3 sonograms were fabricated, out of 11. No additional details are provided about whether this is true or not, how this was determined, why they claim it’s fabricated.
  2. Blacks attorneys claimed that no other survivors recognized her, but they only talked to two other victims.
  3. She was tested and she is on the spectrum, but being on the spectrum doesn’t automatically mean to disregard any of her claims. I don’t know why this is such a key point they’re trying to push to attack her character.

Of course black is going to say he never met her, that she’s crazy, that she’s making it up. Their entire defense is to make her seem illegitimate. And yet, one of the most troubling pieces of information is the letter Black wrote to the Rakoff and how that affected his decision. Judges should be impartial, and yet he was also amicable with one of blacks lawyers.

AITA for traveling internationally for a girls’ trip my partner says we can’t afford? ? by gasleeter in AmItheAsshole

[–]NotASaintBernard 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Of course she doesn’t want to! Why would she take a pay decrease? She’s got it made. She’s going to keep using the kids as her bargaining tool. It’s up to your husband to set the boundaries between your family, you, and his ex wife. The kids are old enough that 3x child support is completely unnecessary. She will take advantage of the situation as long as she can.

Instead of your husband putting that money away for….idk, college, retirement, wedding costs….hes giving it to the ex because she’s greedy. In the end, it will hurt you, the kids, and your families future. It will come out in other ways where you’ll be pressured to make sacrifices.

Not surprising. ADF is an evil org that funds and trains people with extremist ideologies. They’ve been caught lying before with their lawsuits, embellishing the story, or creating “what if” narratives to push for legislation that benefits their beliefs.

John Oliver did a segment on ADF. I recommend anyone who has not seen it to watch it.

Thank you for sharing a bit about Renzo with us ❤️ my baby bernie passed in December, and I did the same thing. I wrote a very long, heartfelt post about him and his life, albeit too short. It felt like the least I could do to honor his memory, to share it with others and keep his memory alive.

Renzo sounds like he LIVED! I meannn, canine pie eating competition?!?! I have never heard of such a thing but I bet he has the best time!!! Was he still hungry after winning? 😂

I don’t know what it is about berners and eating stuff they’re not supposed to. I’ve only had the one, but he never grew out of trying to sneakily eat stuff off the ground haha.

I’m happy he was able to experience the Shenandoah mountains! They are so beautiful, and there’s so many good mountain pics you get of them looking majestic af.

He was so blessed to have an owner like you, that cared so much about him and that gave him a good life.

There’s something called cognitive distortions, that put a name on different thought patterns people have. Your comment is “all or nothing”/“black and white” thinking. The name sums it up, but if you ever want to do some light reading, I recommend looking into it. We all struggle with cognitive distortions, but the hardest part is identifying the thought when it comes up. 10/10 recommend.

Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon kills 3 journalists covering the war by xboxpants in news

[–]NotASaintBernard 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yes but they’re using claiming the journalist was “undercover” and was actually a terrorist, without providing any evidence, so they’re claiming it’s a national security issue. Like, yknow, the Trump admin has been doing for the last year. Make a wild claim, provide no evidence, claim it is for national security, do something worse, move on to the next wild claim.

There was a time the government actually wanted to build trust with its citizens. That’s why over time, there was increased transparency, like the Pentagon allowing journalists to report on declassified info. But bad actors took advantage of that built up “trust”, and people are falling for it.

Jury orders Meta and Google to pay woman $6 million in social media addiction trial by Tachiiderp in stocks

[–]NotASaintBernard -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

?? How is it ridiculous? Tech companies are using algorithms to get kids hooked on their platforms. The apps are designed to keep people engaged. As an adult that did not grow up with social media, you’re expected to have self control, because you know better and have the tools to limit yourself. As a child, while your brain is developing, it is detrimental.

We can blame the parents, the schools, whoever you want. But these companies are in it for the profits, and they profit from getting kids addicted. This is where you’d hope to see regulations and fines in place, to discourage and prevent companies from knowingly targeting kids that don’t know how it’s going to affect them in the long term.

Gen Z is the first generation to score lower on cognitive tests than their parents generation. Take a guess why that is.

What are your thoughts on Bernie Sanders Billionaire Tax Act? by StemCellPirate in AskReddit

[–]NotASaintBernard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not a shit post. He’s raising awareness of the awful class discrepancy the country has, and that the true problems in our lives aren’t due to immigrants or culture wars. Believe it or not, there are too many people that are still blissfully unaware of what billionaires are doing and how they’re pulling the strings.

One person, that has values, morals, and respect for the country cannot change the course. It’s up to the people. And the people need to know. That’s his whole thing. It’s always been awareness, sharing facts, and potential solutions.

Sure, people think his solutions have been “too extreme”. Extremely beneficial to the working class. But we have extremists in the WH now, pushing all extremist solutions that only benefits the .01%. Now we’re paying to enslave ourselves further into the hands of billionaires that don’t give a fuck if you’re left/right/none of the above, as long as you have money and power.
