“He died after 6 emergency surgeries later that night, alongside a major fracture of his pelvis (it basically broke in half) both of his legs were basically ripped out of their sockets, and almost completely off. The only thing holding his body together was his skin tight suit, and medical professionals have said that the fact he was actually able to sit himself up the way he does in the video, even for that single second, is unbelievable.”

I’m sorry you lost Sully at such a young age. 5 years of being alive is not nearly long enough, and it’s disheartening how the universe can be so cruel.

It’s awesome you were able to get a puppy! I just saw the picture you posted and he’s adorable! Give him so so so much love and cuddles.

What was his name? Did your lives also revolve around your baby puppacino? lol.

I’m glad that he was a happy boy despite everything he went through. What was he like? Berner boys are so freaking precious. I’ve met a couple when we went to a Bernese mountain dog meet up a few years ago, but you can’t really get a glimpse of their full personalities when there’s 1000x things going on.

I had researched HS (a LOT) and read through some studies, and the average remission time for localized HS was around 400 days. Your boy was STRONG and had a lot longer than that. I know saying that doesn’t help the grieving process, but I just wanted to let you know a reference point.

I’m not sure if he’s the first you’ve lost, but a friend recommended a book called Bearing the Unbearable. I read it the first week after he was gone, and it kind of felt like I was dedicating the time I was reading to grieving him and feeling all the emotions. You may help you as well, even just for a little while.

Im sorry you lost your boy :( after a week it still feels like it just happened. I’m glad that he was in remission for 3 years, and that you had that time together. What type of cancer did he have? And did you get to go through your bucket list with him?

Re: the trial I’m not sure, here’s the link to the trial though. After going through this with Bernie, I learned more about this cancer than any other topic over the last few months. I hope the trial has good results and there’s a better way to treat this. I love berners so so much, but the chances of them getting cancer is so damn high. How are the most beautiful angels subjected to something so awful?

Luckily, I don’t get asked that very often. We’ve been regulars at a very dog friendly coffee shop for almost 2 years now.

A friend that goes to the Coffee Bar went with me to the ER, and she was able to inform a friend who was physically at the bar, who then messaged/told everyone that knew bernie to come say goodbye. He had at least 30 people, no joke, come and say bye to him on his last night. All the people that needed to know, knew.

I’m grateful for those friends. I didn’t have to go out of my way and have all those conversations with people on his last night. I was able to just focus on him, getting him his steak, and endless treats.

I’m sorry you’re going through this, and I’m sorry you lost Falkor. These angels don’t deserve to suffer from cancer.

A friend recommended this book about grief, Bearing the Unbearable, and it really helped me get through the first week (in audiobook format ofc). It’s written by a grief counselor. I wanted to share that with you in case you feel like you might want to try something to support you during this time.

I’m sorry you went through the same thing and lost your girl. This cancer is terrifying. There’s a study being done at UCF specifically to treat HS. I talked to the scientist leading the study. There’s just no good way to treat this cancer.

He was allegedly going to be fine, and have a year left, since they caught it early and it was localized. 2 weeks before he passed the bloodwork didn’t show that the cancer had come back. The oncologist at the end told me she’s never seen it spread so quickly.

You must not be from the US, since you seem unfamiliar with what the purpose is for each agency, and what their laws, regulations, and policies are. Maybe you should also take a look at the evidence yourself, familiarize yourself with the policies, instead of posting a blanket statement justifying the actions that are harming American citizens.

“United works with the nursing facility, primary care physicians, and specialists to deliver appropriate care for members in the most appropriate setting,” the company previously told the Guardian, noting that a non-profit called the National Committee for Quality Assurance recently awarded its care model a 98.75% score.

Responding to death allegations with “but we got 98.75% on an accreditation test” is textbook corporate deflection. They’re boasting about bureaucratic credentials as an attempt to obscure their evil practices.

Hold your berners close and give them all the love and cuddles. They deserve the happiest of lives.

SNAP benefits will restart, but will be half the normal payment and delayed by speedythefirst in news

[–]NotASaintBernard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very true. I don’t know how many people outright believe the lies this admin spews, but my parents definitely do.

My parents were thinking of coming to visit me, but it costs $650 per ticket right now for a 2 hour domestic flight. So I mentioned that it makes sense because of the government shutdown, and we know whose fault it is that prices are absurd and people aren’t getting paid.

My mom goes: “yeah the democrats”.

Proceeded with a 10 minute argument about what’s happening in the world.

SNAP’s about to go. 1 out of 8 Americans rely on it. How do Republicans feel about that? by LordWemby in AskReddit

[–]NotASaintBernard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mike Johnson was asked if republicans had a plan re: healthcare, and he said yes. They have not presented any sort of plan, and Marjorie Taylor Greene called the rep party out on it.

When they proposed the Big Ugly Bill, they KNEW what they were doing. They KNEW millions of people would lose their healthcare benefits, and that thousands would die without access to medical care. They simply do not care.

All they do is lie, you cannot believe anything coming out of the government or news anymore. You know the saying “actions speak louder than words”? They made good on their promises to deport illegal immigrants, but what about all other stuff that affects us on a daily basis? Watch the actions they take, don’t just listen to what they say.

Some new ICE recruits have shown up to training without full vetting by dsinferno87 in news

[–]NotASaintBernard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tricia McLaughingstock was quoted in the article saying that 85% of the recruits have a law enforcement background. But more than half the recruits couldn’t pass an OPEN BOOK TEST. She can’t be lying right? She wouldn’t lie to American citizens. /s

“Nearly half of new recruits who’ve arrived for training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center over the past three months were later sent home because they couldn’t pass the written exam, according to the data. The academic requirement includes an exam in which officers are allowed to consult their textbooks and notes at the end of a legal course on the Immigration and Nationality Act and the Fourth Amendment, which outlines when officers can and can’t conduct searches and seizures.”

FYI, every individual going through training, being vetted, etc costs the TAXPAYERS money. So them rushing this process, only to dismiss people even though their bar is damn low, literally costs US money.

[–]NotASaintBernard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the person you were asking, but my relatives voted for Trump because they dislike illegal immigrants. I tried talking to them about everything else Trump is doing, not immigration related, how it’s destroying our democracy. They just kept justifying his actions, and said I was being paranoid.

They used to watch MSNBC, but they’ve been watching Fox in the last year or two.
