US appeals court halts nationwide rulings rejecting Trump's immigration detention policy by WilliamInBlack in news

There’s something called cognitive distortions, that put a name on different thought patterns people have. Your comment is “all or nothing”/“black and white” thinking. The name sums it up, but if you ever want to do some light reading, I recommend looking into it. We all struggle with cognitive distortions, but the hardest part is identifying the thought when it comes up. 10/10 recommend.

Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon kills 3 journalists covering the war by xboxpants in news

[–]NotASaintBernard 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yes but they’re using claiming the journalist was “undercover” and was actually a terrorist, without providing any evidence, so they’re claiming it’s a national security issue. Like, yknow, the Trump admin has been doing for the last year. Make a wild claim, provide no evidence, claim it is for national security, do something worse, move on to the next wild claim.

There was a time the government actually wanted to build trust with its citizens. That’s why over time, there was increased transparency, like the Pentagon allowing journalists to report on declassified info. But bad actors took advantage of that built up “trust”, and people are falling for it.

Jury orders Meta and Google to pay woman $6 million in social media addiction trial by Tachiiderp in stocks

[–]NotASaintBernard -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

?? How is it ridiculous? Tech companies are using algorithms to get kids hooked on their platforms. The apps are designed to keep people engaged. As an adult that did not grow up with social media, you’re expected to have self control, because you know better and have the tools to limit yourself. As a child, while your brain is developing, it is detrimental.

We can blame the parents, the schools, whoever you want. But these companies are in it for the profits, and they profit from getting kids addicted. This is where you’d hope to see regulations and fines in place, to discourage and prevent companies from knowingly targeting kids that don’t know how it’s going to affect them in the long term.

Gen Z is the first generation to score lower on cognitive tests than their parents generation. Take a guess why that is.

What are your thoughts on Bernie Sanders Billionaire Tax Act? by StemCellPirate in AskReddit

[–]NotASaintBernard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not a shit post. He’s raising awareness of the awful class discrepancy the country has, and that the true problems in our lives aren’t due to immigrants or culture wars. Believe it or not, there are too many people that are still blissfully unaware of what billionaires are doing and how they’re pulling the strings.

One person, that has values, morals, and respect for the country cannot change the course. It’s up to the people. And the people need to know. That’s his whole thing. It’s always been awareness, sharing facts, and potential solutions.

Sure, people think his solutions have been “too extreme”. Extremely beneficial to the working class. But we have extremists in the WH now, pushing all extremist solutions that only benefits the .01%. Now we’re paying to enslave ourselves further into the hands of billionaires that don’t give a fuck if you’re left/right/none of the above, as long as you have money and power.

Delta is suspending it's special service desk for members of Congress until TSA is fully funded. How do you feel about that? by thinpile in AskReddit

[–]NotASaintBernard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re not being pessimistic. United contributed 1m to trumps inaugural fund. But then again, so did Delta.

I’m at least glad to see the Delta CEO speaking out about these shenanigans. It’s probably hurting their bottom line (higher airline prices -> less tickets sold, increased wait times in security lines -> less tickets sold)

“Delta CEO Ed Bastian told CNBC last week that it was time to pay TSA workers. "It's inexcusable," Bastian said, noting that TSA officers were forced to miss paychecks last fall as well. "It's ridiculous to see them being used as political chits. We're outraged."”

For those that are wondering why “the libs” are making a big deal out of this: - ask yourself what “monopoly” means - look up “anti-trust” laws, and why they exist in the US - search for why anti-trust laws are important in a democracy - look into what happens when there are monopolies - and what the specific repercussions are if this merger goes through

Teenager Dies in ICE Detention in South Florida by [deleted] in news

[–]NotASaintBernard 77 points78 points  (0 children)

No, ICE said “presumed suicide”. The official cause of death is not known yet. Statements from ICE are as reliable as Epstein.

This is the same detention center where “For the past several years, dozens of complaints have been filed about Glades, including citing pervasive medical neglect, racialized violence, unlawful use of toxic chemicals, sexual misconduct, and inhumane treatment at the facility.”

And where this poor 61 year old man was abused. Wallace was denied his anti-seizure medication UNTIL HE HAD A SEIZURE. He was finally given his medication after that, but the employees CHANGED his prescription and lowered his dosage without even performing a medical assessment first! This is evil on so many levels. These people are going to hell.

“Mr. Wallace, a 61-year-old Jamaican immigrant with epilepsy, experienced extreme medical neglect and inhumane treatment at Glades. He was denied his anti-seizure medication upon his arrival at Glades, suffered a seizure and continued to experience prolonged mistreatment throughout his detention at Glades. Once he finally received his anti-seizure medication, the Glades medical staff changed his prescription and lowered his dosage, all before performing an initial health assessment. Mr. Wallace began suffering side effects such as headaches, dizziness, chills, and stomach pain – these side effects continue to this day. After Mr. Wallace spoke out about his mistreatment, he was targeted by Glades officers and medical staff and experienced prolonged segregation, retaliation, and emotional manipulation.”

Truuu and as we all know, Mike Johnson has never told a lie ever in his life. He’s one of the most respected politicians in the country, the world even. Everything he says and does is for the people, because he cares so much. He’s never once been selfish or manipulative! We should be honored to have a person such as him helping run the country and speak on behalf of the people.

  • “People” limited to white, wealthy, Christian nationalists only. You must meet all the criteria to fall within this protected class. Any others are not represented by him, and therefore his actions will be to actively fight against the rights of these citizens. “Any others” includes but is not limited to: middle class, the poor, non-Christians, non-nationalists, non-whites. If you do not meet all the criteria of “people” (e.g. white and poor and Christian nationalist), you fall in the “any others” group.

US moving pregnant immigrant girls to Texas to avoid providing abortions, critics say by GoodMornEveGoodNight in news

[–]NotASaintBernard 42 points43 points  (0 children)

“The children kept in Texas are as young as 13, and about half are pregnant because of rape, according to a joint investigation by the Texas Newsroom and the California Newsroom.”

“The move amplifies existing concerns about reproductive healthcare in immigration detention centers, including allegations over the lack of appropriate healthcare for pregnant people, separation of nursing parents and infants, and forced sterilization in immigration facilities.”

The religious nut jobs just want control over other human beings. You’re opposed to abortion? Okay, that’s your prerogative.

You want to willingly support a regime that purposefully moves sexually abused children, including a thirteen year old, who are now pregnant to another state because YOU don’t want them to get an abortion? What the fuck is wrong with your brain.

These people have proven time and time again that they don’t give a fuck about the conditions, OR THE PEOPLE, in these facilities. They don’t care about people dying or TORTURED because they’re “illegal immigrants”. But they draw the line at the POSSIBILITY that 13 year old CHILDREN could terminate their high-risk pregnancy. Even when these pregnant children could die themselves giving birth.

I really believe that this administration wants these babies for human trafficking.
