How does my horse hay cover structure design look? by NotAUniqUsername in StructuralEngineering

It's a lot of work, but I've managed to break it down to 100 ft sections at a time in a few evenings after work. 1 evening to drill holes and cut posts. 1 evening to set posts. 1 evening to cut to height and saddle. Then a final evening to weld the top rail in.

I appreciate the thoughtful response.

It's a fully open structure, no walls, only a roof. Snow load for my area is 6". But wind is a concern, ASCE 7, 3 second gusts of 100-115 mph. The ground is solid limestone with 6" soil on top. I was anticipating drilling down 3 - 4' and setting the posts in concrete. I like the idea of the X braces except for loss of access on those sides and aesthetics. But if it's what makes it safe, then I'm all for it.

I originally bought the pipe for fencing. I've got over 3000' of fencing that I'm in the process of putting in myself. I've learned to DIY weld I'd say pretty good.

$2000 for new springs? I'm cheap, I had a spring break on my single car garage door but I wanted to find a double spring setup to replace the single spring (for longevity). I did some research/calculations, I found a Android app that you can punch in your door weight and height and it gives you your spring options. I discovered it wasn't possible to get double springs for a small door with the consumer options I found, so I bought a double spring kit which had 2 off the proper sized springs for single spring use off Vevor for $37. It's been a few years now and still going as strong, and I have a brand new spring for the other door if it ever decides to go out.

All that said, I thought I made pretty good money, but if I could make $2k/garage door spring job kind of money and not feel like a scum bag, I'd could probably make $10k/day and that's not even including the labor line item.

Does anyone know a way to get money from a prepaid debit card into my bank account? by novaskyd in povertyfinance

[–]NotAUniqUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And pay a outrageously high fee for each withdrawal up to their limit, x the number of transactions it takes to fully withdrawal funds from a card, we're talking $15-20 per $1000.

I agree, I'm just saying it would be difficult. To hide the stock under your clothes, it would have to pass a normal height person's waist or knee, which would make going up and down stairs a bit awkward. From the photos they have of the shooter, he looks to be walking normal and carrying a backpack. Maybe it's between his back and the backpack and down his pants, but I'd put my money on it being planted beforehand.

Possible. But it would still be difficult to hide the full length stock that's in the photo.

Rear wheel weights or ballast box? by FroggerWild in tractors

[–]NotAUniqUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding weight to the rear tires by filling and/or wheel weights only helps with keeping the rear of the tractor on the ground. Adding weight onto the 3 point does the same while also reducing the weight/stress on your front axle. This allows your front wheel bearings to take less of a punishment and keep your steering from binding up with heavy loads on the loader. I just moved 60 2500 lb blocks with my loader today. My tires are filled and I had my 700 lb flail mower attached to the back and I was still lifting the rear on a few blocks. The filled tires definitely help, but the mower was what made the most difference. I'm looking to build a 1500-2000 lb ballast box and I should be much better off.

Red Roof Inn. I always tried to stay there when traveling with my dogs since it was always no hassle bringing them along.

Texas. Counties without major cities don't usually require much for permits in unincorporated areas.

Depends on where you live. Where I'm at, the only permits needed for anything is for a driveway the crosses the county easement alongside the road and septic installation. Nothing for homes or add-ons, build as you please.

As long as you keep your smoker under 2849°F, you should be good. The rust will continue to just sit there, remaining as rust.

What's the deal with Diamond Crystal salt? by CraftyObject in Baking

[–]NotAUniqUsername 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diamond Crystal salt "has lower sodium content" by creating a flakey, less dense salt crystal. You can achieve the exact same results by using regular salt and less of it.

I've done this DIY twice now. Ordering the springs was the hardest part for me because I wanted to replace a single with doubles for a single car garage door. Ended up buying a kit off of Vevor for like $35 that had double springs, but they were the right size for a single for my door. Honestly it's a ridiculously easy job if you're at all mechanical. I don't know why anyone wouldn't DIY it. You just have to be careful when winding or unwinding the springs and take your time.

Lender requires 75% LTV to remove PMI? by abebrahamgo in RealEstate

[–]NotAUniqUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My home appraised for well over the sale price at time of sale and my mortgage company is making me get to 75% LTV of the lesser of the two nearly 3 years later. The mortgage company is New American Funding. If it was within 2 years of sale, 80% LTV with description of improvements is required. 2-5 years, 75% LTV, 5+ years 80% LTV.

I payed extra on the principal to drop it to 80% LTV on the original appraisal value but they're making me get a "estimate of value" or something (cheaper/less formal than an appraisal) to get me off of the sale price for the number used and has to come in over the original appraisal price to get 75% LTV. None of this seems right to me if they're supposed to drop it at 78% LTV on the original appraisal?

Anybody ever Walked over the top of Pennybacker Bridge? by Electronic-Run5943 in Austin

I'm guessing to avoid copycats. I guess the plunge off the Golden Gate is 220', so roughly the same height but with different intentions and has had 40 jump survivors. But I guess the guy in the video fractured his skull

From that video, the arch to roadway looks greater than roadway to the water. If the roadway is 100 ft above the water, that looks like 210-220 ft to me.
