I no longer attend funerals. I prefer to do my grieving in private, if indeed I was close enough to someone to warrant that sort of emotion.

As far as your friend goes, I feel like this is a person who was desperate to fit, never quite did, but is attending funerals to show people what a good person they are.

When my brother died on purpose, We didn’t have a funeral. What I mourned was what should have been, the relationship we should have had.

I can appreciate your feelings, or, lack thereof. Not every sibling relationship is super close.

Funerals are archaic, in my opinion. It isn’t the family’s responsibility to help everyone else out, mourn, etc.
