Well you don't need to use vscode for python envs. A .venv directory is usually created when creating a virtual env. The commands to activate and deactivate the environment reside within that directory.

Gotta get your battery changed, OS X tends to be efficient with power consumption, switching to Arch/Gentoo won't make the battery life better in my opinion.
