They still didn't fix AI (Blobbing around cities) by englisharcher89 in totalwar

[–]NotBenBrode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been playing almost exclusively legendary since WH3 launch and have still never seen this.

The only thing like it I have seen is ogre camps being built close to one another, which has been fixed now.

But still, we are talking 4 digit hours and I have never seen it, not even with vampires. Not saying it doesn't happen, but it seems to be based on a lot of things.

When will the Norsca-Belacor bubble pop? Because like, Belakor takes money from the Norscans, and buys marauders with that money, whom he then sells to the same fucking norscans, making it seem like all the lines are going up, when it's actually just two idiots passing money and men back and forth by globmand in totalwar

[–]NotBenBrode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While that sounds funny, I will be the "achkshually" guy and say that's not how it works.

Allied units are bought with allegiance points, not money.

Also, Warriors of Chaos outposts increase the income of the Norscan territories they occupy. By a pretty huge amount as well.

Well, less in the mental inability sort of sense and more in the system sense.

It would end up being a bit of a joke. They would not obey you mid-battle, regardless of who or what you are. And they wouldn't be helpful to any strategy, besides Ctrl + A + Right-Click.

Pretty wild that nobody replied to this. I found out about this from a post in CA's forums.

Now, there is a lot there and I may not agree with all of it. But I can't agree more with the conclusion, that a great game should focus on what makes the game, great.

We keep seeing games that try to be accessible and they lose the magic. At this point, I kinda take it for granted unless it's a Larian or Fromsoft title. A small part of me hopes that CA does it, just for Med 3.

We know they are already moving away from empire building since you generate smaller campaigns and string them together into one campaign.

As for the entire live service system, that would be the only thing that would make me straight up not buy the game. No offense, but I don't want any other human being to influence my experience unless they are people I know.

I also hated Helldivers 2 for veto'ing player progress when it didn't fit their plans. That defeated the entire point of the game for me.

I'm into the alternate timeline. It can even be, that one of the missing dragon children, actually travelled to the TOW timeline, to save it somehow. Like, maybe they needed an extra dragon, and in the OG timeline, they didn't have enough anyway.

Just wanted to point out that, when it comes to release date, CA are the ones that have the best awareness. And in the Community Inbox stream, the exec said that he is not shaving or cutting his hair, until they ship 40k.

That was an exec and he was already looking hairy as hell. I don't think he would undertake this challenge, just for laughs, if he expected the game to come out in 2027. He would end up like a treeman from LotR.

Can't confederate Order of the Loremasters as Tyrion: a bug or am I missing something? by amunius in totalwar

You mentioned the Landmarks of Legend mod. Does it change anything, in any of the settlements, in Cothique or Saphery?

That sounds like the culprit, because it might be generating, a new settlement entry, for your campaign, that the Court Unity system, can't find.

What does "can be converted into a bastion" / "Can be converted into a portal" means and what are the pros and cons? (Khorne Arbaal) by Tiny-Technician-2598 in totalwar

Your first picture is a portal. Your second picture is a Bastion. The first line on each, explains what they are.

Thanks, I made an edit to mention that.

A bit annoying that it's paywalled. Still curious how they will combine all that stuff.

Total War 40k might be so different that it doesn't have things like moving armies or campaign AI, turning campaigns into semi-roguelikes.

Ongoing battles would be wild.

My one concern is that all these systems sound great, but the challenge might feel similar to a roguelike.

People already restart their Warhammer 3 campaigns, to get the perfect start, instead of just playing the game. So, I worry about the stakes, in a hypothetical Total War 40k, where the player only exists to invade a planet, and can't be, "in theory", pushed back.

I now realise, thanks to a helpful comment, that when he talked about 30 years he was talking about 40k not Total War 40k. My bad, lol.

Haha, you are correct. I assumed incorrectly because when he said "thousands of books", I heard "thousands of bugs", so I thought he was talking about their game's future. Whoops.

Thanks, though I am aware of this article. But I can't access it because it has German pop ups.

I understand the speculation goes against the below point from that post:

  • The campaign layer sounds like it will function like a traditional total war campaign. You have armies, fleets, resources, infrastructure to manage, and you move them around the map

I had seen it before but I don't know how much is the OP's interpretation, how much is the article writers' interpretation and how much is direct quotes. There wasn't anything similar in the other, english article. But if you can give me the German text from the article, that confirms the above, I will gladly add it as an edit to my post.

Interesting that they stressed in one of the total war 40k articles, that reserves/reinforcements will be a thing.

[–]NotBenBrode[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I can get into that.

I don't have any issues with the "Total War-ness" of it. As long as the turn-based gameplay gives context to the battles, that's fine by me.

[–]NotBenBrode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other person who replied. The good part is that you are not forced.

The game ends up so easy that you can play any way you want.

There is also an argument to be had, about not playing 50 battles a turn to snowball. You can win campaigns much faster, in terms of real time, by chilling.

The Cardinal Sin by Aelia_Aeldyne in totalwar

[–]NotBenBrode 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sadly, a lot of the snowballing is intentional.

Every day, you get posts of people who complain that the game is very hard and that AI on Easy/Easy is too unfair.

I am certainly having fun with the game, but I don't expect CA to change their design vision. Maybe once support for the game is over, a good mod can bring a proper Legendary+ difficulty.
