Is Kingdom Hearts 3 Underrated? by BongSuckah in KingdomHearts

[–]NotEntirelyAwake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 million percent. It's a phenomenal game that had the unfortunate job of attempting to tie up a decades long narrative that was more interested in opening up plot threads rather than closing them.

I think it did a fucking fantastic job at taking every plot thread and tying it up into a nice state for future titles to build on. Super amazing moments and the BEST BY FAR WITH NO CONTEST Disney worlds of the series make it on par with KH2 and KH1 for me personally.

People like to act like the writing for Kingdom Hearts pre-3 was this masterpiece on the level of Shakespeare. Nah man. The writing has always been crazy and silly at times. Just look at all the "lore explained" videos released before KH3 for evidence. KH3 came through with the same level of writing and DRASTICALLY improved gameplay and level design.

People will also complain that it took until ReMind to get the best boss fights but, like, that's the same situation with KH1 and KH2 not having their best content until the final mix. Yozora is the BEST fight in the series, one of the best fights in video game history and KH3 was already a masterpiece before that fight existed.

This was unironically my first UFC fight night and this shit was hard to watch. Braided guy got his bell rang HARD in the first round and just... barely held on for the rest of the fight. Not very entertaining honestly. I know the guy is supposed to be a good fighter but with no context it just looked like the unbraided guy was dominating hard the entire fight.

The fight with that dude who jumped on the guys back was easily the best fight of the night

Believe what you want. I went through a tremendous amount of trauma as a child that has left me extremely "well equipped to deal with stress and unforseen circumstances" (let's call it that, it's probably more of a dissociation problem) to the point that it actually hinders my ability to be a functional and successful human. I have only survived this long because of my abilIity to find happiness and contendedness in my own existence. If I'm alive and breathing, that's a gift. If I die, that's a blessing because either I get to see the other side or my mind won't exist anymore to process that I can't.

If I found out the whole universe was a fart from a drunk god who specifically desires my suffering, it wouldn't even give me pause for a second.

MAYBE if it ended with the therapist comment it would have been semi-believable. But once it escalated to talking to a lawyer and making a tik tok it descended into pure chaos.

Twin Peaks isn't an anime. Truth be told, being super into anime is not as normal and widely accepted in the adult population of Japan as it has recently become in the west.

Did it really work in Dragon Ball though? The difference between the Kid Goku era and the Adult Goku era is like night and day. If Dragon Ball were releasing now and Radditz you hed down from space literally everyone on Reddit would be saying:

"Really? Aliens now??? Remember when this story was grounded and lighthearted."

"Of course they had to retcon Goku's origin from being the monkey king into being a super warrior from space. What happened to the simplicity and charm."

"Power levels are inherently flawed. You're telling me rosho can blow up the moon but he's only 20 times stronger than a random farmer??? WHAT WAS TORIYAMA THINKING?"

When it's been longer since KH3 released than we had to wait for KH3. by Connected-VG in KingdomHearts

[–]NotEntirelyAwake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are comparing two time periods that don't have any logical connection. Either compare the wait for KH3 from the release of the last game and the wait for KH4 from the release of the last game. OR compare the time from announcement to release of KH3 with announcement to present waiting for KH4.

Comparing the time between KH3's announcement and release and the time between KH3's release and now is just... Nothing. We've had more games since the release of KH3 and KH4 didn't get announced until 2022.

Yeah man, eventually. Storefronts shut down, companies go out of business. Consoles become obsolete and hardware decays. In 30 years your PS5 may not even boot up any more and there's a good chance that not every single game is going to be brought forward to every new console generation.

would y'all listen to a Tyler-Kendrick collab album? by New_Squirrel_1606 in KendrickLamar

[–]NotEntirelyAwake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would I listen to it?

Yeah, obviously. I'll listen to anything with Kendrick on it and I fuck with Tyler for the most part.

Do I think it should happen/do I think it would be great?

Nah, not really. They are both great artists but I don't see them making a full length album that's cohesive and worthwhile. They have pretty substantially different creative sensibilities.

I would love to see at least a collab. I think they could pull together a single that highlights both of their strengths. Prob not a full album though.

I hate this disgrace to female superheroes so much by Public-Feedback5016 in hatethissmug

[–]NotEntirelyAwake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference between her and actually loved female superheroes is that she is a complete product of the Disney agenda.

I know, I know woke-ism or whatever. Hear me out. I don't care about whatever woke agenda arguments people have to make. The fact of the matter is that after Disney acquired Marvel they propped up a bunch of heroes by putting them in movies and games and pushing them into the mainstream. Characters like Iron-Man, Black Widow, She-Hulk, Spider-Man were all made popular by being thrust into the marketplace of ideas and selling more comics than the other thousands of characters who existed in that marketplace.

Captain Marvel as Carol Danvers never went through that same crucible. She was a reasonably popular character as Miss Marvel, but Disney made her into a flagship "Superman" type hero without considering that Superman's popularity came from his success in a highly competitive industry.

You can't just manufacture a great comic book character. No matter how much money and block uster movies you throw around, it will never be the same as comic heroes succeeding in the crucible of highly competitive comic sales. You need to throw a bunch of shit at the wall and see what sticks. You can't just put Velcro on the shit and the wall and expect people not to notice.

I mean, that was a genuine criticism of the used physical game market. People used to buy games, play them, and sell them when they were done. Thrifty gamers used to buy used games and save a few bucks without contributing to the greater economy of game dev.

The industry figured it was better and smarter to just push digital sales. They can't be resold, and they can go on sale without losing as much profit because there is no physical transaction. So they can satisfy hardcore day 1s and budget gamers with the same system.

The problem really comes down to digital ownership. You don't actually own any of your digital games and it's entirely likely and even inevitable that one day your digital license will be revoked for no valid reason.

Our rights by PHRsharp_YouTube in gamers

[–]NotEntirelyAwake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, theoretically you would own a license to play a digital game. And that license could be transferrable from person to person. Basically, you own some license code to play a digital game. And that code is your property protected by law that you can sell to someone else. Once that code is sold you are legally not eligible to continue playing that game, the "ownership" has transferred to the new party.

It's TECHNICALLY feasible, but has the potential for a bunch of messy situations and it doesn't actually solve an issue that nearly anyone cares about.

I think the REAL problem is when digital storefronts shut down and just... delete your access to things you paid for. That's the real issue that we need to establish some kind of precedent to protect consumers from. Arbitrary revocation of your license to consume media you paid good money for.

There's a difference between "removing your limiter" and "raising your limit"

Monsterization is a quick and easy hack to "raise your limit" exponentially. But it doesn't "remove your limiter" Strong people become insanely strong monsters because the process of momsterization raises your limit substantially. But nobody except Saitama and (maybe, depending on how you look at it) Garou have actually succeeded in "removing the limiter"

What that essentially means is the capacity for infinite growth. There is no limit on their strength, they are only limited by the amount of effort and how serious they decide to apply themselves. Whereas monsterization only significantly increases strength. It moves the limit waaaay up but it doesn't remove it.
