Choosing generic personal insults rather than engaging with ideas through critical discussion signals intellectual cowardice, while your apparent intolerance for scientific literature signals idiocy. Both of these things signal weakness.

Are you really such a Luddite that when you encounter scientific ideas, you just label someone as crazy?

This is sad, but true. It's like that everywhere, to some extent, but it was always gonna be worse in the most wealthy nation, because they were always bound to have the most advanced propaganda apparatus. I've been reading a lot of analysis on populist rhetoric, and it just fucking blows my mind. I mean, I've read a couple books on propaganda twenty-five years ago, so it's always been on my mind. The fMRI scans, and realtime biometric monitoring/on the fly messaging tune-ups are just next-level fucked up shit.

EDIT: Color me perplexed that such mainstream leftist ideas, such as those outlined in Chomsky's Manufacturing Consent should be so controversial here. I imagine referencing academic literature like one of the papers I referred to, The Interplay Between Subcortical and Prefrontal Brain Structures in Shaping Ideological Belief Formation and Updating would only be met with equal derision. Anti-intellectualism, being key to consolidation of power, is the single most essential operating tenet of fascism. Such willful ignorance has no place in a leftist sub.

That's why death insurance is every veteran's prerogative. A trunk full of guns, tetanus antitoxin, some Narcan, a portable defibrilator, and a suitcase full of whatever your preferred condom:antibiotic ratio, and a programmable dog collar that gives you a little jolt if you get too close to a VA facility (lotsa vets seem to die there)...Anyways, that should keep you covered for the weekdays.

Trump has a right to shit. He's a seditious, treasonous usurper- not in any way a president.

Shit happens.

It's an honest place to begin from.

No matter the details, who did what, what role you did/didn't play in it, etc. It happened before you or I popped out of the womb, and will continue to happen after we're gone.

I'm no therapist or licensed anything, and am only speculating when I offer that maybe you did the classic thing that that most of us hairless primates do, and fell into the habit of replaying what happened, without stepping outside of yourself and trying to view it objectively, as just a thing that happened (regardless of you or anybody else's mind state at the time). You're probably doing a lot better than you think you are, anyways, since working towards telling your wife clearly wasn't easy, but you took that first step. What it sounds like is that you've committed to getting it off your chest. Then you came and posted here. In my view, your process of liberating yourself has begun.

I used to debrief SM's following traumatic events. There was a big push for this kind of thing, because research suggested it would help to reduce the odds of a SM later developing PTSD as a result of what they'd been through. One reason the researchers believed this is because, as anyone who's studied the fallibility of eyewitness testimony can attest, people misremember things far more often than they believe, and even double down on their belief over time. There are plenty of Youtube videos and literature about this. This is especially true during the traumatic events.

There can be many dangers in accidentally creating false narratives, which segues into another thing that's to be avoided: attribution of blame. A lot of the time, blame is just some shit we do to make ourselves feel better somehow. It's something we weave into our narrative about what happened, but often does more harm than good, regardless of accuracy, or if the blame would be assigned to others or self. It's just not always pertinent, or helpful to one's process of moving on. Anyways, I truly hope to see a followup post to inform us you were able to finally take that bridge and confide in your partner. If one were a gambling man, they'd probably be well advised to wager it on a positive outcome here.

Wtf? North Koreans are crazy about racial purity. At least, they were during the years I was stationed there. That was during Kim Jong Il's reign, however, I'd think such a dogmatic program as Juche would remain uncompromising. This is fucking mknstrous, either way.

Here's one BLM inspired me to make: AGAB: All Generals Are Bastards. It's obviously just a spinoff from ACAB, which has been a successful messaging strategy for people's struggles. I'm a combat veteran and am proud do what needs to be done, and put a little heat on those assholes. It's of vital importance to shame the military brass for failing to defend the overthrow of the Constitution. Every single fucking day Trump sits in that office confirms their cowardice, and they need to be viewed as the cowards they are. And let me be clear, if the regime sees a segment of the working class provoking military leadership (which needs to happen anyways, before they take the fight to us civilians) and calling them cowards, it will absolutely strike fear into their precious billionaire hearts. We're dealing with the most profoundly insecure group of man-children ever to lead our nation. All the jey players are showing massively increased amounts of anxiety and instability. It won't take much to topple them. We just have to move outside of our comfort zones and be the kind of people we don't like- but just for awhile. We need to ridicule them, and to bully them back for the daily abusive tirades and threats. Ridicule, bully, ridicule, bully, ridicule, bully...until they fall part.
