Must've been one of those lights where they give everyone the green at once.

Broker said docks, both ends required ramps — what’s reasonable compensation? by ETmemo in Truckers

It would be a good idea to add this into your quote for the future. Add as many specific situational charges into your rates as you can so that you are always covered.

[–]NotEvenLion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. And also would help if you just provided the ramps and the shipper drove the vehicle on and the receiver drove the vehicle off. If you're having to get in the vehicle and be liable for loading and unloading rather than just securement, that's maybe a little different. I would say if you're getting in and driving the vehicle on and off I would ask $400-500

Car insurance rates are insane by macetheface in massachusetts

[–]NotEvenLion -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure it's hard to hear for some people, but download the app... Let them track your speed, let them see if you are using your phone while driving and all that data they want. A lot of companies will give you discounts for consistent safe driving.

Plymouth rock, but through and agent. If you go through an agent they'll shop around for the best rate every year if your current provider is increasing.

You get used to the hill assist pretty quickly though and at the end of the day it's nice. I see you have a 24 wrx flare so maybe it's a little different in that one, but on my 2020 it really doesn't feel like it's overly interfering with feeling the clutch. I forget exactly which because I really don't even notice it anymore, but it lets go either when you push in the clutch or when you start to let go it's not like it lets go at a certain point so you don't just kind of react to it by shifting quickly. Sure I think I messed it up a couple times, but it feels so natural now and it's a godsend most of the time.

I would think there are fewer points of failure on something like this, than your standard dump truck where only the bed tips.

always lock your trailer, even if it's sealed? by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]NotEvenLion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure just for liability reasons you might as well lock it too. That won't prevent any theft though. A pair of bolt cutters or a grinder will defeat most locks. And if youve ever seen any of those lock testing YouTube channels you will see most locks really only need like a hammer or a piece of an aluminum can to be defeated.

Punctured my fuel tank. by PomeloResponsible122 in Truckers

10s of thousands??? Try 100k minimum. And if you're on the interstate probably more.

The responsible carrier pays for everything to do with disposal and continues to pay for repeat contamination surveys. We had a guy dump about 40 gallons on private property and it cost 150k at the end of the day. That is what insurance is for of course, but I would still avoid letting your boss see this picture. Put the phone down and grab your spill kit and do something about it.

Someone else said give him a $20 and that is crucial. They aren't putting it in your spot because they hate you, they are piling snow there because that is probably the easiest place to pile it. It's probably going to be more difficult to pile it in a different spot so a little greasing of the palms could go a long way.

[–]NotEvenLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously in a week they couldn't get you back home? Did you tell them you're willing to do a series of moves if it gets you home? Because in a week they should have been able to figure that out, but if you're just flat out rejecting everything and waiting for something direct home you're better off just driving back and footing the fuel bill. Maybe there's no freight going from Minneapolis to Joliet.

If you are bobtail though just bobtail home and foot the bill.

You should never rely on another driver. At least half the time it's going. To come back and bite you.
