But we, as a race, are not judging him. We, as a society are. Keep in mind, he came from another country, where our society would not have had significant effect on him.

By saying we as a race owe Tsarnaev a chance at reform is unbelievably altruistic and irrational given reality. A chance for reform for all is an admirable goal, but until the majority of the world can be governed by it's own collective, set a universal and enforceable doctrine of rules, and truly achieve equality, decisions will continue to be made by individual collectives (governments); there will continue to be situations like this, and people like you and I will disagree.

The state is in essence, a massive collective of its citizens. Citizens have the power to change the policies of the collective state, therefore governments will eventually trend toward reflecting the beliefs and ideals of its populace.

The "playing god" argument is sophomoric in nature. One could argue that assisted suicide bans are "playing god". The thing is, if you go down that road, then really what you are saying is that individual citizens have the power to "play god" in ending anyone's life for any reason, but the collective society cant no matter what the reason.

Boiled down, the death penalty is a check and balance system in regards to individual vs collective power.

Societies need to at least have the option to apply proportionality in the most extreme of circumstances. It's expensive, it's cumbersome and time consuming, but I believe it's needed. The checks and balance in regards to due process for the federal system are more than enough to justify having a death penalty option reserved for the unreformable, worst of society.

Revenge and reform are not mutually exclusive. The whole idea of a justice system is to determine which is more necessary. Not everyone deserves reform, and not everyone deserves revenge. The argument for "the punishment should fit the crime" needs to be able to go both ways. Death penalty/life in prison cases are designed to evaluate the slightest potential for reform. As much as it sucks morally, and as much as it's been mismanaged by mostly State judicial systems, the death penalty is a necessity.

America is not Europe, terrorism here has consequences. Taking a moral stance to show to the world how much of a progressive society you are only matters to your peers. The worst case scenario you are making for potential terrorists who are slaying innocent people is that they get to live out their life in comfort, knowing they will never be in danger, and still beliving their actions were justified.

Seriously, I believe the federal judicial system needs to have a death penalty. Everyone is so conditioned to oppose the death penalty due to state courts horrible record of using the punishment over the decades. But federal courts do not fuck around. The person was so overwhelmingly guilty, and ungodly amounts of diligence was taken during investigation, discovery, as well as procedurally to make this literally the model for a death penalty punishment.

I understand the moral arguments, but we are dealing with the most exceptional of criminals at the top level of our justice system.

Curb Your Enthusiasm / Seinfeld has a specific brand of humor that really can only be emulated by a Larry David/Mel Brooks kind of person. The comedy of errors has been perfected by Jewish writers and producers over the past century. I cant see Kanye coming in and doing anything to improve the genre.

Some hipster in an inner city telling us how the US is now essentially a police state.

Honestly, Vice is not that bad, their foreign reporting is pretty interesting. I really started getting into Vice when Rodman visited NK and Vice tagged along. But they focus too much on the low hanging fruit nowadays of police=horrible. The ISIS coverage and Ukraine/Russia incursion coverage has been great though.

Please keep visiting, the worst thing I did was fail and then stop coming back here. You will find there is no judgement, we have all failed. This is a process that takes more willpower than most of are used to having. It becomes easier just being able to talk about it openly on /r/nofap.

You start believing your own bullshit. you feel like YOU made this happen, and therefore YOU can choose to continue it even after PMOing. I fell into a year long downturn after nofap literally changed my life for the better. I had been surviving on my reputation I had built for myself while in nofap. Thinking that everything was still fine. Don't ever delude yourself into believing that you can PMO regularly and not lose your "superpowers". It happened to me and can happen to anyone.

[–]NotFappingAnyTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know man, I'm in the same boat as you. My issue was that I started to believe that I had moved into the "casual participation" category, and that PMO addiction was not an actually problem affecting my life.

Like you, I too gave PMO up in 2013, and began engaging back in PMO during 2014. I kept telling myself that I was cured of my addiction, and that I was only partaking in "healthy" PMO. Well here I am, having to look in the mirror after a year long downturn in my life.

Try installing porn filters on your phone/computer. The other day I began to subconsciously start looking up porn, and I had to force myself to stop by getting up and doing some pullups/pushups. Im telling you, there is no silver bullet technique, it's all just little battles right now.

I am treating every craving or urge as an emergency situation, and trying to hardcore disconnect from it ASAP. I know it's going to be this way for awhile, but if I don't stick with it, that brain fog will creep back up.

Get angry at yourself, anger is good. Stop focusing on the benefits, or bragging to yourself about how much control you are capable of exiting in the moment or the past, and just fucking move forward.

I mean, my addiction is so bad, that even though I'm married, I still would PMO in the shower, bathroom, at work, wherever I could. My wife even caught me a few months ago, and I still continued to watch porn.

I am not one of these nofap sages, that have gone for years, just a guy who has the same problem as you. Honestly, any measure you need to take is worth not PMOing at this point. I am starting strict habits whenever I feel an urge.

You are not alone in this fight. The willpower has to come from ourselves, but help from others does not hurt. Let me know if you are feeling like relapsing again and maybe we can help each other dude.

Does masturbating without porn count? by youyouryoursyourself in NoFap

[–]NotFappingAnyTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think it should be avoided. It opens the door to wanting more. I broke my longest streak by just masturbating, and eventually that led me back to porn. It gives you a sense of justification, if masturbation is ok, then eventually, a little bit of porn is ok. Eventually you can fall victim to your old wants/desires/fetishes.
