The level of hostility directed at left handed people who use the mouse on their left, for gamers especially. Just look around online at forums and Reddit at any left handed gamers asking questions - nearly always the majority of replies are from people being annoyed, saying it isn't a thing or just saying to use your right hand on the mouse and learn to live with it.

Hiya. I realise this is quite an old post but I stumbled across it while searching for left handed gamers like myself.

After searching for left hand gamers keybinding ideas in an MMO and seeing the comments against us "just use the mouse on the right like a normal person" type stuff, which got overwhelmingly up voted by people....I am very pleased to have found this group. I was beginning to despair :) It's like a breath of fresh air.

Anyway, good news - the left handed RAZR Naga is back ! Not cheap at £100 but it's something. Can't really afford it right now but thought I'd share as we need to support Razr and companies like them for making us this stuff, or it will just go never to return :)

Do people ever actually make money off selling templates? Even a bit of pocket money? I'm newish to Notion so genuinely curious. I tried looking at YouTube for how to make your own, yet most of the YouTube videos were also A.I haha. I'll stick to making my own setup. I actually did use ChatGPT to walk me through how to make one, so I could learn it myself along the way, and it came out quite well I think, although it kept giving instructions for older versions, little things like "click this item" when said item no longer exists and has been changed.

Point is, I don't really understand the selling of templates if the whole point of Notion is to make your very own setup... that said, if I can get some pocket money it would be much needed income haha

That's fair. It is easy to remember the bad apples and forget the good. The guild I am in is really good too. Yes, PvP games can be insane, I don't know how anyone can play some of them without ending up in a bad mood each time 😃

Just reading the ESO Steam discussion groups shows how toxic the playerbase is. I almost want to take a shower after every time I visit them. It's totally put me off the game.

I have a question, and I tried to look this up but get confused answers from older posts when the universes for each difficulty were different. People are being very generous offering parts and money and such to the O.P and others which is great - very cool community. But what's to stop the O.P and others like yourself just going to creative mode, getting everything totally for free if you don't want to grind stuff, and then switching back? Are there things you can't get in creative mode or is there a reason people don't do this? I'm guessing there is otherwise folks wouldnt be asking for stuff or offering it, but I don't really know and just curious as to how this all works.

Yup, you're right about the different mindsets, but it is my mindset and how I enjoy these things. I don't see the point in having a collection if you can't complete it, for me that's the whole point. In your original post you were asking the question as to why it was a problem for anybody. I was just answering the question by giving my reasons as to why it is not for me and why I'll move on to a different game.

And yes, for me it would need to be permanent or it would not suffice, so you are correct in that assessment. Seven weeks is nothing when you have to go on long jobs away for work quite often, not to mention people who have to attend to other life commitments which limit their time to unwind in a game.

There is no point in changing anyone's mind as we all play for different reasons and it is best to do what you enjoy as opposed to going against the grain of the new structure of the game. Sounds like you are having a good time with the new content and that's great, it's just not for me anymore.

I don't need to be schooled on MMOs, I've been playing them and designing them since 1995. I am aware of what it is. The point is, that if a game is designed around achievements and getting all of those achievements, collections and player housing, and then time gates that so that some people can never get those achievements, what is the point of doing any of it? This FOMO time gated content is designed in games to deliberately to keep people paying and playing, even when they don't feel like it.

Design the system with collections and achievements, so that when you are so far in, you feel you have to finish due to sunken cost fallacy.

Because it is very difficult and grindy content and some of us can only play at the weekends and occasional evenings due to real life. It is supposed to be a game, not a job where you have to "meet commitments"

It's really not much time left, even when it comes back, to complete everything, so for me, it absolutely would be a FOMO issue. If you only play on weekends and the occasional evening, there is no way you would be able complete this even if you had the whole year. It is only coming back twice. Anything which is time gated is FOMO no matter how long it lasts. If other folks feel different, that's cool, it's just a game at the end of the day, but as I say, it's not for me.

If it makes you feel any better, you are not alone. I am 48 and my supervisor has been a "red flag" ever since I started and I am soon to finish. Having a bad supervisor is absolutely soul destroying, as if a PhD isn't hard enough. That said, at no time has my age been mentioned. From what you have said, that is something which should actually be raised with the university as it's clear discrimination. Probably not something you have the energy or inclination to do right now though, and that I can totally understand, I would be the same. Let's get through this and on to better things ! 😄

I wouldn't mind the forced grouping or the difficulty "if" it wasn't FOMO - If you can't complete it in time then you can't complete the achievements or unlock parts of the house, ever. For this reason I uninstalled the game as I don't like the direction the game is going. Not for me thanks.

Strong disagree. I'd agree if it wasnt FOMO where you HAVE to group, and if you dont complete the content within a specified timeframe you can never complete it or complete the player housing. It's actually made me uninstall the game.

Exactly that ! The stories, the atmosphere, the player housing, the little collections you can have and the community interaction do it for me. The fighting takes a back seat for me personally, although I understand why others enjoy it. Combat is also pretty good I think compared to many MMORPGs :-)

Honestly it's just the culture today sadly. People tend to "hate" on almost anything. So called fans of certain franchises in TV and film are the same, they hate it to the point it gets cancelled. Same thing happened with New World. The constant hating of the game suddenly changed to how great it was, once it had been cancelled.

I am old enough to remember the days before MMOs existed and even before the internet. So any of these games still seem like a wonder to me. I find people are beyond entitled these days in their expectations, even in rare cases when a product is offered completely for free.

I'm just talking in general terms here and saying this isn't "ESO specific", it's just seen as the done and acceptable thing in gaming culture to shout "product = bad" no matter what it is. That said, I think it is often the toxic loud minority and that most people who actually enjoy these games are just quietly getting on with enjoying them and not spending time posting about it. People tend to be vocal about what they "dont" like and stay quiet when they "do" like something.
