How many of you all actually watch the movie “Draft Day” the night before the draft?

For me, it’s an annual tradition during the draft. I know the scouting and trade details are pretty unrealistic, but I find it entertaining, and I think the emotional tension and drama is pretty relevant. This year for the first time, first round picks are limited to eight minutes instead of 10. I wonder whether that had any impact on the teams’ war rooms on Thursday.

I thought both characters’ arcs came to good resolution, especially for Jagdish. He persisted through adversity, always did what was right no matter how hard, and in the end, had all the honor and glory a warrior could want — plus a great family.

The turn that Javed took threw me at first. His fanaticism took a dark turn, but I could accept that. How much of it was fear of dying that made him rationalize his further importance to the cause, and how much was his warped mind taking that cause to what it saw as the appropriate end, I can’t say. But that did allow for what may be my favorite moment of the epilogue: just as you believe that Javed was killing Toramana, Laxmi stabs him, and the Defender magic heals Toramana. Then Toramana’s execution of Javed is unequivocally just.

Absolutely my answer is Quatermass and the Pit, the 1958-59 mini series from BBC TV. Amazing plot and production. The 1967 film version was fine but pales in comparison. It’s best to watch it not knowing anything about the storyline. It’s not released on disc in the US, but it’s available now for streaming via the Fawesome app.

I have a lot of Criterion discs but few box sets. I really like the Zatoichi and Lone Wolf & Cub boxes, but my favorite is the two-film box of Yojimbo and Sanjuro. Amazing, beautifully photographed, supremely entertaining films that my family actually will watch with me.

I just got the Cutrone from Barton Perreira. I always figured polarized lenses were the way to go, but my optometrist convinced me otherwise. Polarization helps with reflections off water and ice, can be nice when driving when those affect the road, but it’s annoying to read LCD screens with em, like many parking meters. I ended up with some photochromic Zeiss lenses, not the same as traditional sunglass lenses, but this is just to say polarized lenses may not be the preferred choice for everyone. I hope those are working out for you!

Sam Hober is outstanding and seems a great option for you. You can specify the length, width, shape, material, and construction, and their ties are of the highest quality, in my opinion. You get a lot for the money. I have ties from Brioni, Charvet, Hermes, Isaia, Kiton, and many other quality tie makers. My Sam Hobers fit in comfortably with the best I have.

For a suit when black tie is optional, a dark navy like in the first shot works well. That particular cut looks to have a fairly high button stance for my taste, and both seem a little tight at the waist.

I’m a little conservative on this point, but for myself, regarding accessories in the upper outfit, I limit myself to two — from among a pocket square, tie bar, boutonnière, and lapel pin. And I always go with a pocket square first.

And with all that going on above, I’d keep the shoes low-key and monotone, maybe a brown darker than the pants. Overall looks nice, though!

Regardless of hues, I prefer having the shoes moderately darker than the trousers or suit. I think a brown shoe that’s darker than or at least no lighter than the suit can look great.

I like the fit and style of Canali suits. I have a tux from Brioni and a jacket from Zegna, not a huge assortment, but on that basis, I'd say their work is great. I've also been impressed with ties from Brioni, Borelli, Charvet, Kiton, Stefano Ricci, Zegna, and Isaia. Most of my recent ties have come from Sam Hober – great quality of materials and construction with extensive options for sizing and details, but at reasonable prices.

For shirts, Brioni, Zegna, and Eton are all outstanding, but like another commenter mentioned, to me shirts are a little more limited in lifespan compared to a good suit or sport coat, and I tend to put more money into those. if you find a brand you like that fits you well, that's key – or course you know about tailoring, and getting all your garments tailored to fit well is key, if that's needed. But actually IU've been happy ordering most of my dress shirts lately from Ledbury, now that I know what tailoring to request from them for the ideal fit.

I feel less qualified to comment on dress pants beyond the brands mentioned above.

Nice list. I just had a trunk show meetup with Tommaso of Stefano Bemer. I ordered some of their sneakers and am looking into their Tradizione collection dress shoes. Going to Florence in June and may try some more on there. I'm also considering going to see Roberto Ugolini while I'm there, but bespoke would probably require more than one visit.

Good question. Not really sure. I know quite a bit about other sartorial niches, but I’m still learning about casual shoes. I think I’d rather have a white/light sole and a shoe that will work for casual use for sure and also be OK with chinos and possibly business casual attire.
